Delicious, absolutely delicious! Presentation is cute and the custard is very smooth with great flavour. The vanilla custard in particular just has a very nicely done taste. I ordered the banana split without nuts or pineapple. I was offered to substitute the pineapples and got extra strawberries. The banana felt fresh and the custard mixed well with the flavours of the strawberries. The only thing I would ask for next time is light on the whip cream. They added quite a bit and it felt as though a few spoonfuls were just of the whip cream! I dropped off the family to go order and after 15 minutes waiting to find a parking spot, I was able to join them at a picnic table right in front of the order windows. They have 3-4 more picnic tables to the right of the building, on a grassy area. Unless you plan to go with a blizzard-type treat, the custard is vanilla, chocolate or a specialty flavor. This day it was coconut. Super rich and delicious for sure. Just not the type of place you expect when going out for ice cream. Their seasoned fries were amazing. They have plenty of other seasonings to add too and they were piping hot. Boardwalk fries and they had a NC vinegar that was even better than your typical malt vinegar. So glad we made the stop. I have great memories of Kill Devil's Custard from coming here as a kid, and I am happy that the place holds up after more than fifteen years. Best custard in OBX. We drive 20-30 minutes just to get it several times a week. The staff is friendly and the line moves quickly. Food is good too but we rarely eat anything other than custard there. The only complaint I have is that they are closed Monday and Tuesday! read more

The waffles on the wicked waffle were a little sad by the time I got a bite - soft and cold. For those that have never experienced Kill Devil's, you are in for a treat! Think like ice cream, but creamier, and smoother. It's got yolks in it, and in return a thicker, luscious, velvety treat. They've always got Vanilla and Chocolate (both of which are incredible), but have a rotating third flavor added in advance. Regardless, you are going to have an incredible experience. Now, Kill Devil's also has burgers, BBQ, fries, and more. The burger is delicious, and perfectly seasoned. The fries, well, they're fries. You can mess them up easily, but they don't mess up here. All in all, Kill Devil's is a treasure. Sadly, they're closed on Mondays (but hey, that incredibly hard working staff deserve time off to unwind), but for the rest of the week, it's Frozen Custard Heaven!
