Kids size scoops. (Popular toasted coconut in the back)
Edna C.

...so I'm going to be that snobby west coast tourist who whines about ice cream not being artisan enough. Kilwin's is more of a dessert shop staple, with a wide variety of standard flavors, an enticing display of freshly made caramel apples, and the slightly nostalgic vibe of a classic ice cream parlor. Tips: *Prices are reasonable *They do have a kids size small scoop available, though it's not listed on the menu (and it's not just for kids) *It's okay to ask for multiple samples *Can't go wrong with toasted coconut *The shop is heated up to comfortably toasty temperatures so that you can enjoy ice cream during the AA winter While Kilwin's ice cream is more sweet and less flavorful as I'd like, it's a cozy shop in Downtown with all the dessert essentials.

I most recently tried the fudge and it was really delicious. It was also shockingly expensive--about $5 for a chunk the size of your average brownie, but it was so good, I guess I would call it a worthwhile indulgence. They make their own chocolates and candies, fudge, dipped fruit and other things that probably aren't good for you. They have ice cream, but I haven't tried it.

Awesome cake batter ice cream in d house made waffle cone

Nice place for ice creams n they make their waffle cones in house!!!! The ic creams selections were not very unique or different. The usual ones. I tried the cake batter and it was yum!! They evn make their own caramel candies. I think i like Stucchis better. They have better flavors and different too. But Kilwins isnt that bad. Njoy!!!!

If you like spicy & chocolate, you must try this!

Liked the selection of off the beaten path stuff that I don't find everywhere--especially the dark chocolate with habanero. Also, they have dark chocolate covered orange wedge and a raspberry jelly wrapped in dark chocolate--a number of fun items. Beats the hell out of South Bend Chocolate Co, that's for sure!

Wow it's packed in here!

I also got the double dark chocolate, which was decent but a little more lackluster than I expected. They have a huge variety of flavors though and it definitely feels like the kind of place you need to come back to multiple times to really explore the menu. Every time I walk by there's basically a line around the block, so clearly people love it. Thankfully when I actually went, the service moved pretty quickly. Definitely somewhere I'd come back to try more flavors.

I might actually buy coffee and tea as holiday gifts for my coworkers. The reason for the 4 star instead of 5 is because the women's bathroom was not clean, customer service can be improved, and some music can really make the cafe more inviting. I made coupe of orders, one included dessert. I was handed the cake with no fork, had to ask for one. Wasn't given napkins and didn't bother asking. I might sound petty, but honestly the product can be great. However, customer service is what brings customers back. There needs to be proper training. If I'm going to spend money and do everything myself and ask for everything that should be the basic/ standard, then I might as well make my coffee at home. It terms of music, I think it would amplify the space. When I stopped by the cafe, I was the only one in the main space and it was dead silent and all I can hear is the buzzing of the cooler that had the water and pop/ drinks. Some light music in the background would've blocked that noise. I only share this because I would love to see this business thrive.

The case of macarons was beautiful , multicolored rows of well labelled flavors. We each made some selections and ordered some drinks. Our hosts ordered a large French press pot to share. I had time to speak with staff about the last k of space for baking and how they arrived at so many flavors. They do not bake onsite but receive frozen shipments from the main bakery in Grand Rapids as handiest the Holland, Michigan store. They defrost enough each for each day so they never run out of flavors. They were some of best I have ever had. Nothing like what you might find in the bakery section of a grocer. It's so appealing. The macarons displayed in the case were equally appealing. I don't recall all the flavors, but I had a tough time picking out flavors for my friend and, of course, something for me. I chose three macarons to enjoy at the shop: blueberry, coconut, and strawberry cheesecake. I liked the delicate crack of the macaron shells and the creamy, flavorful centers. Each sported a design to distinguish itself from the others further. I also had a piping hot Earl Gray tea along with these treats. Espresso, French and Italian sodas, and lattes are also available. Customers stopped in throughout my visit for a quick purchase or to savor their macarons at nearby tables. Service was disappointing.
