Visiting Denver Colorado for a conference, my colleagues and I were walking around Denver during the evening after eating at Rioja on a Monday night. Kilwins Chocolate & Ice Cream is located in the central business district in downtown Denver, Colorado. Current hours are from Monday - Sunday: 11:00 A.M - 10:00 P.M. As soon as we walked in, you could smell all of the amazing sweets and desserts! I should have bought some chocolate caramels to go!! Instead, I ended up getting two scoops of ice cream in a cup! They offer a wide range of sweets such as Kilwins chocolates, handcrafted fudge, ice cream, caramel apple, caramel corn, and brittle! You can buy the chocolates in boxes, or you can select them from the counter! Current Ice Cream offerings Apple Pie Pumpkin Pie Cookies & Cream Sea-Salt Caramel Chocolate Chip Vanilla Chocolate Coconut Mint Chocolate Chip and a few other flavors! I ended up getting a scoop of the cake batter and sea salt caramel! The cake batter ice cream was smooth and rich. It was a yellow cake batter mixed with pieces of cake and chocolate frosting. It was delicious! The Sea Salt Caramel had a vanilla flavor base with salted caramel and chocolate covered caramel candy! It was sooo yummy!! I ended up bringing the ice cream back to my hotel room!

After driving around forever and waiting out a parking space, I finally got close enough to find wherever this was at the 16th street mall area. I was eager to seek this out in Denver since I had just had the best experience at their downtown FoCo location! I had also just literally walked in and walked right out of Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory at the other end of the mall which was very disappointing. So I was hoping this would not be the same way. Fortunately the displays and products in this Kilwins location did not disappoint! The vibe inside did feel a bit dated and it was not easy to get to location wise and they had all of their ice creams which are so delicious! It was nice to discover that they had ice cream cake! Definitely have my eye on that for my December birthday! The service was great and I spoke to the young person that worked there and he told me how he learned to make all of the fudge and some other candies and such. Pretty cool! I originally went there to get one of their delicious caramel apples so I got the praline one, a scoop of delicious cappuccino chip ice cream and a toffee piece dipped in dark chocolate and almond. Their candy is dreamy!

Stopped by for a treat before heading into my shift. Mmmmmm......I don't know, but lately I've been on an ice cream kick! Lol This place also sells chocolates too! Place is clean and the staff was friendly and nice. I got the toasted coconut ice cream. Light and refreshing. Made me feel like I'm on the beach, strolling, and eating ice cream. Where is the man of my dreams?!?! So I can have ice cream on the beach! Lol Definitely stopping by here again.

Stopped here for just a bite of chocolate after lunch. Lots of options. I chose one of my fav, a dark chocolate pecan cluster. $1.64 for the piece. It was delicious. Staff was nice. The shop is cute and colorful. The caramel apples looked amazing.

Very amazing ice cream and honestly the hot chocolate is my favorite! Very creamy and the flavor is very bold! Absolutely amazing and so very glad my wife and I tried this place! Service was amazing and very cheerful! The only thing I wished they had was a seating area but other than that everything else was perfect!

So many added charges (state, city, RTD, Cultural District, and .10 for a bag for my 1 piece of loose chocolate)! 07-04-2022

07-04-2022 I was out exploring Denver and the thing I was looking for was not there. My friend had come here. It looked so inviting, so I saved it to my collections. It wasn't on my radar initially when I came looking for that other thing, but when I saw Kilwins, I remembered and just had to go in! It is on 16th Street Mall between Welton St & California St. You will need to park on any of the outlying streets because the are of this street this shop is on is for pedestrians and the bus. There is a free MallRide Bus that goes up and down this split set of one-way streets Sweet confections everywhere! It is a pretty large shop with fudge, caramels, chews, Caramel Apples, and Popcorn created in-house! At the back part of the store is the Ice Cream area! I perused all the offerings and was quite tempted to buy a lot! But, I decided to get only a Tuttled Nut Caramel (yes, a Turtle, but they don't call it that) and a scoop of ice cream. I was surprised to see that I was charged ten cents for the tiny paper bag my one piece of chocolate was put in. Yes, I was asked if I wanted a bag, but not told that it would cost me a fee! Well, they call it a bag tax. I live in Los Angeles, CA and we're charged for bags at grocery stores and I never buy any! I can't recall being charged for a bag at a restaurant or a food place. So yes, I was a little perturbed when I saw it. Please tell your customers so we can make an informed decision... it just seemed sneaky. I really wished this place had indoor tables to enjoy purchased treats. I took my chocolate and ate it at home later. It was very good. As for the ice cream, I took it to a nearby area with a few picnic tables. It was so hot on July 4th and there was no shade at the tables. I tried to eat my ice cream quickly rather than slowly savoring each bite. I chose the Marsh-Mallow S'Mores. I really liked it, but probably not enough to return unless it was a cooler day.

Stopped here as I was walking past and ended up buying a few chocolates from here. They weren't too die for and even the dark chocolate pieces were too sweet for me. The staff is the best part of this shop. I appreciated the piece of caramel they gave me, but I could only eat a small amount as it was hurting my teeth. Expensive chocolate for not special quality. I'd rather go somewhere else for my chocolate needs next time.

    Cookies and.cream was delicious

What great ice cream. I haven't had this good in a very long time. Pretty decent price and great service.

Amazing service, fantastic treats, will be back again! they have sooo much stuff here to eat and they're sooo so tasty! Very helpful staff and great ambiance. Andres was dope and super knowledgeable

We found Kilwins in New Orleans and were excited to try the Denver location. It did not disappoint. My kids loved the ice cream. The handmade marshmallows are delicious, and the caramel apples... yum! The one guy working was phenomenal. He noticed I couldn't speak and he used sign language. That rarely happens and made me feel seen. Amazing service! The store itself is cute. Can't wait to go back.

I was greeted by one of the owners, Gonzo Jimenez (he was on Netflix's Bake Squad reality show) when I approached the counter. I ended up purchasing the following: White Chocolate Strawberry Swirl, $8.50 prior to tax and fees- Of the two bars that I purchased, this one was my favorite. I love white chocolate, especially when combined with fruit or peppermint or dark chocolate. This was a nice creamy bar that really complemented the strawberry flavors. I would purchase this bar again. The only down side is that this bar is thin and I think this bar is pricey for what it is. Pistachio Milk Chocolate Bar, $9.85 prior to tax and fees- According to Gonzo Jimenez, this bar is their take on the trendy Dubai chocolate. I was definitely disappointed with this bar. There really wasn't that much pistachio and a higher ratio of chocolate. This bar was just average for me and wouldn't purchase it again. ------------------------------------ (Total= $20.10 after tax and fees) There are numerous of chocolate desserts, chocolates, bars, etc that one can choose from at this little boutique. But they are a bit pricey, but that's because these are artisan chocolates and some are very pretty. Gonzo Jimenez did tell me that you can also purchase some of their items online, including the bars I purchased (shipping is extra but if you feeling extra spendy, if your order $150 then you can get free shipping).

When I found Bibamba while I was at Edgewater Food Hall to get me a plate of Ethiopian food, I stumbled up it by accident. The kind lady who was manning the register inside was above and beyond while I was sampling different types of chocolate barks along the window shelves. She explained to me that the store opened about three years ago. Really? I am pretty sure I had come here within that time frame at least once. I guess I had missed this place out of ignorance. Well, I, at least, discovered it. This is a Colorado store which imports cacao beans from Cameroon as the owner runs/owns a farm in the African country. Per the information board on the wall, the farm sustainably sources everything. I certainly appreciate businesses that focus on social responsibility. The chocolate bark samples I tried were all exquisite. After tasting, I walked around a bit to take some photos of the interior. Yes, this store is quite different than other typical chocolatiers for sure. You'll have visit it and see for yourself. The glass showcase upfront had truffles, cakes and parfaits all nicely displayed. The decadent looking cake or the parfait were tantalizing. Unfortunately, however, they were a little too big for me. Hence I decided to go with several pieces of the small chocolates as they all were of a good size. I got me two truffles and one chocolate piece. And they were.... -Black Forest Buzz Truffle -Cinnamon Roll Truffle -Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel Including tax and tip, all came to less than $14. Quite decent, I thought. I enjoyed all of them but my absolute shout-out goes to the Black Forest Buzz Truffle. It was so good where I wanted to go back to the shop immediately to get me another one. Yes, I agree. As the store name says it all, this is an artisan chocolate shop. The skills and techniques they use to create those outstanding chocolate pieces are high-quality, one-of-a-kind goods that are distinguished from others. You won't taste something like this in those mass-produced ones sold at the store we go to daily. Bibamba simply became my absolute favorite chocolatier that day. The only complaint? It's not very close from my southeast Denver house!!!

Took a chocolate truffle making class and learned all about chocolate production and chocolate making. The owners are passionate about their chocolate, and it shows. First, we started with a presentation with photos of their farm in Cameroon and how they harvest, ferment, and dry their cacao beans, followed by roasting, winnowing (removing shells), and grinding into "cocoa liquor". Then bagging in 150-pound bags and shipping directly to their warehouse in Colorado. From here, their employees mix with sugar/milk and make the most organically rich and pure chocolate. It takes about a week in the melanger (mixer) for the cacao and sugar to blend into smooth, rich and creamy deliciousness. In the hands-on portion of the class, we took some of their 50% cacao and made dark chocolate truffles, rolled in a large variety of toppings--dried strawberries, pink sugar, pistachios, cookie crumble, peppermint. Of course, we all went home with lots of tasty samples to share of (eat alone.). Very interesting, tasty and fun. Their store is worth visiting as it is absolutely beautiful with numerous products on display. If you like chocolate or have a chocolate lover in your close circle --then you need to stop at Bibamba and get some chocolate love. Fun fact: Bibamba also provides their special chocolate confections to the very best restaurants in town. Finally, this class was brought to us by Slow Food Denver, a non-profit, committed to the enjoyment of local food, and who seeks to create a more just and sustainable food system. As it gets later into the day and through the weekends, I know it gets very busy, but there is plenty of random seating throughout the hall and even some outdoor spots if you prefer.
