After you have a nice dinner at Chaplin's Seafood, come down the stairs and get a scoop or two of ice cream at Sweet Spot. They have some very unique toppings and it's made in-house, which you can taste in every bite. We got the Dirty Grasshoppa and Pistachio, which were both delicious. Maybe because it was opening season - but this has to be the worst ice cream. It was supposed to be hard cream, it was more like hard/ soft ice cream or melty ice cream. This is my go to breakfast place went taking the ferry out of Point Judith to go to Block Island. The two young teens that work there are always friendly and quick to take your order. There's an array of baked goods to choose from, and coffee is always hot and fresh. I always enjoy the breakfast sandwich that I get. You get your option as far as bread, then you can choose a type of meat if you'd like. Overall, nothing special. Everything is heated up and toasted in a mini oven. Seriously like what's wrong with these young girls? My 60 year old aunt will wrap circles around them. Literally a Saturday night huge line and waited 20 mins just to get ice cream. And there were three girls huffin and puffin working like it's a Monday morning with no line. We timed each couple and person ordering and every goddam order took more then 10 mins to make. They wrote down orders slowly and made each ice slowly. Everyone was so agitated and they just didn't care. Working like turtles. No actual adult around to tell them to move! Not worth it. The staff was helpful and friendly, the ice cream was delicious, and the location is awesome - picnic tables let you watch the fishing boats come in and out of the canal, there's a beach nearby, a huge jetty to walk out on. When I think New England coastal town/city, this is the kind of ice cream place that comes to mind. Well all the delicious and creative pastries here are made on site. All the fantastic, smooth and rich ice cream is also home made. Mud pie, chocolate chip, cookie dough, all the flavors are great, the biggest problem is which one to choose and then how the hell to burn off all those calories. They also have coffee and tea but who the cares about that. With incredible hot fudge sundaes that rank with the best I have ever had and pastries that can make you fleshy just by looking at them who wants coffee. Of course once you get your treats you take them outside on the deck that over looks Point Judith Harbor and enjoy fantastic views of the ocean. You can sit and experience the water and watch the fishing boats go by. After making a special trip to get ice cream at this store ( and passing several other ice cream stores), we were excited about trying the ice cream. We even shared with the young lady that we found their store because of the Yelp reviews. It seemed as though the positive comment had fallen on deaf ears. Though the ice cream was ok, the service was less than desirable. It seemed as though our business was not wanted. It's homemade, decadent and wonderfully flavorful. All staff was helpful and couldn't be nicer. I didn't try ice cream at George's across the street. I have nothing to compare it to. The girl who helped me was super nice and patient about my questions, and the ice cream tasted so good! I got black raspberry chocolate chip, plus dirty grasshopper based on the other reviews. The black raspberry wasn't particularly sweet, so they actually worked really well together. Knocking off a point just because their freezer seems to be too warm - I think other people had this problem, but the ice cream had half melted by the time I sat down a minute after ordering. I would not go here again. When we got to the store, there was us (my husband and I) and a family. The server was preparing a sundae for the father, and we waited for several long minutes before she even acknowledged us. There were two other employees in the store, but they didn't seem interested in acknowledging us either. The blonde girl who prepared our order didn't seem too bright. It was obvious my husband and I were together but she tried ringing me out without even asking if he wanted anything. Our two small cones came to $6.02. She counted out .98 as change. If she were smart she would have given me $4 back and could have gotten a $1 tip. As far as the ice cream, the flavor was good (I ordered mint chip) but the ice cream had not been kept cold enough. it was running down my cone before I even sat down. Hard ice cream shouldn't melt that fast. My husband had ordered cookie dough brownie but was served plain cookie dough. The cones were dry and stale. Very mediocre and disappointing. Best freakin ice cream I've ever had, and I'm a mother freakin picky ass! As good as Ice Cream Machine in Cumberland but better. Flavors are innovative and texture wise perfect... the chocolate peanut butter was just like reeces peanut butter cup except the ice cream version. My gf had orange peach that was to die for. I can't find anything wrong with this cute place and it's little wooden signs hung everywhere... all popular quips. You must experience before he closes for the year! I love their handmade ice cream, especially the pistachio! I am in Galilee throughout the summer, and service is always wonderful, but I happened to be in the area during their last weekend this year, and our server was downtrodden and told us that there were no waffle cones left, even though we just saw her make one. Instead we ended up with soggy sugar cones.. I only nicked off one star because this was the only bad experience we have ever had. read more
