It was a windy Wednesday in the middle of August. This ice cream joint opened just before 11:30. Me and the 3 kids were stopping for a quick ice cream fix to tide us over until a late lunch. Over 20 flavors, many exotic sundaes listed on the menu. The service was friendly and quick. Mint Oreo 10/10, black raspberry chip 10/10, Cookie Monster 7/10. Portion sizes decent for the price. Why would you have on your website that you close at 10 when you close 20 minutes early?? I walked up to the window at 9:40 on a Saturday night and was ignored by the workers for like 5 minutes until one of them told me they were closed. I told them at the website stated it closed at 10 and asked them when they actually closed and she told me whenever their manager tells them. I just can't understand why anyone would put on their website a time they're supposed to close and have customers drive there 20 MINS BEFORE it closes just to deny them! ??? read more

Eek. I want to give Aunt Carrie's Ice Cream a higher rating because we absolutely adore the restaurant proper, which is right across the street, but after waiting in line for forty minutes tonight for a simple scoop of ice cream, I can't in good conscience look forward to coming back here anytime soon. We came here last summer after dinner across the way, and it was awesome. They had a great sundae special that was like "worms in dirt", with rich chocolate ice cream, gummy worms, crushed Oreo cookies, and fudge sauce, but that didn't make a repeat appearance on the menu for 2019. Oh well. On the positive side, they do have a great variety of flavors, including an interesting and refreshing ginger ice cream that I tried tonight, and I will say that once we finally arrived at the counter, the service was prompt and cheerful. There's also a small gift shop adjacent to the ice cream stand that sells Aunt Carrie's T-Shirts and other Rhody memorabilia. It's fun to browse around, but leave someone in your party behind to hold your place in line! There's also ample seating at picnic tables once you finally get your frozen treats, but be forewarned - it could take a little while! read more

After visiting Point Judith Lighthouse and before driving back home to New York, I went here today with my sister for dessert. I got the strawberry ice cream with a cone and my sister got the vanilla ice cream on a small cup and we definitely seem to like and enjoy it. The service there was also quick and friendly. It's fine. To the people complaining about the line: it's summer, in one of the most touristed spots in New England. And in RI in the summer, every little corner shack has a line! I don't think you can make money while being open for 4 months of the year without a line! Also, it is a beautiful spot, so one person can stand in line and the others can go off and enjoy. It's probably not as good as Brickley's, but it's good enough, much better when the waffle cones are fresh, though I say this as someone who's not a huge fan of American-style cream-heavy ice cream in general (wish they had gelato). Sometimes the ice cream comes out a bit melty, which I'm not crazy about. Kidde serving would be a medium in most other places. Unless you are a voracious ice-cream consumer, it's probably enough, especially in the hot sun. read more

Ah, Aunt Carries. A love hate relationship. It looks like an idyllic ice cream spot in Pt Judith. But the line here is excruciating. Don't bother going when it's 10+ people deep. When it wraps around the building? Forget about it. Truly don't understand why they can't hire more people here. Take the trip up to Brickley's instead. Much better. You'll get your ice cream in seconds, no matter how long the line is. Overall, Aunt Carries isn't bad, the ice cream is decent and you can walk to the ocean to eat it which I enjoy. well I didn't really like my ice cream but I asked everyone there what they would give this place on a scale from 1-5 and the majority of them said 3 stars, there aren't many options of ice cream but you add add toppings and things like fudge I would recommend theis place if you are looking for ice cream after going to the beacg but do NOT get the blueberry cheesecake flavor I ate most of it before I fed it to my cousin and they give you your ice cream pretty quickly it took as long as it takes to tie my shoe for the ice cream ti be ready (4 minutes) and I would have given it 3 and a half stars but I don't know how to and also the small version is quite big so get the kiddie version if you want a small amount of ice cream read more

Got a medium cup with two flavors (butter crunch & chocolate chip) that cost $6.30 (including tax). Portion was just "ok". The BIG PROBLEM was the ice cream (both choices ) is DE-void of flavor - no better than super market ice cream. Maybe on a super hot day/night it would seem better, but it really wouldn't be better. Stopped here a few times during out week in Narragansett. Ice cream selection is top notch, the prices aren't bad, there's ample seating even when it's a beautiful day, and there's also a restaurant across the street if you prefer regular food to ice cream. I was so looking forward to trying this place after seeing Aunt Carrie's Restaurant featured on Dine-Ins, Diners, and Dives. Since one of the restaurant's desserts was featured on the show I thought this place would have good ice cream. I went across the street to the "Aunt Carrie's Ice Cream" to get some cold dessert. I decided on the mango sorbet, and it was possibly one of the worst sorbet I had. This is a great spot to grab some ice cream close to the beach. As mentioned, parking is off street and in a big lot. It's a quick walk across the street, down a path and you're on a very rocky beach. It's worth checking out. They have a number of picnic tables set up out front in area covered with mulch. The service here was very good. The staff was friendly. And was very patient as our group "ummmm...hmmmm...well..." placed our orders. There was a line when we got there, but it moved quickly. The ice cream here is good, however, it's not a standout. But you're near the beach, it's most likely summer, so it's more about the experience vs. going for amazing ice cream. read more

I'm a really biased ice cream eater- and am often disappointed. Not so here. The staff was friendly and funny despite the heat and crowds. The sample sizes were large enough to really decide if you liked them. Now, the ice cream itself: creamy, rich, varied textures AND superior sizes. I'm so sick of the itsy bitsy sizes from the BIG elite ice cream stores- you know who I mean. If you compare prices, I would have only gotten a single medium cone for the same amount we spent on two massive three scoops plus free whipped cream. Between us we got: mocha chip and mint chocolate chip (me) and salted caramel, butter crunch and something else that I can't recall- (JP always gets ice cream flavor that I don't understand like jalepeno and white tea or ginger- so forgive me.) Now I believe the best mocha chip is from the Ice Cream Smuggler in Brewster, Cape Cod, MA- but wow- this was just as wonderful while being very different. It's ice cream near the beach/beach houses. Prices are what you should expect for the area. Not sure if they make their own ice cream or not. They do have some flavor a you've never seen such as cow tracks or dinosaur crunch but they are just rebranded flavors (moose tracks and cake batter, respectively). They do have lots of parking and the girls hustle the best they can for the unrelenting waves of dairy seeking tourists flocking from the 2 clam shacks across the way. read more

This place is in a great location, right across from a couple of seafood establishments. There is a large parking lot and what seemed like enough picnic tables for a busy Saturday afternoon. But speaking of busy Saturday afternoon in August - there was a long line of customers, but only one person taking orders and one person making the cones and sundaes. Fortunately, it wasn't particularly hot or sunny that day, so the waiting wasn't too bad, but, still. There was a lot of waiting. My hubbie went across the street, got clam cakes and chowder, came back and we had barely moved. Eventually, another employee showed up and a second window opened. Things moved along much more quickly after that. There is a great variety of ice cream flavors and sundaes. Lots of original ideas, too. For example, there was a very patriotic sundae that's made up of blueberry ice cream, strawberry topping, and whipped cream. If I'm ever back here, I think that'll be the one for me! But while the variety was good, the consistency of the ice cream was a problem. My cone was melting before she even handed it to me! Again, this wasn't due to particularly hot weather or excessive sun (there was neither). I proceeded to play "beat the clock" and had to use a wipe my cousin had in her purse to clean up all the drippings. I don't ever remember having to eat an ice cream cone THAT fast lest it puddle. As good as the ice cream and freshly-made waffle were, I didn't really get a chance to enjoy them. I find myself in Narragansett once or twice a year and will most likely be back here at some point, but next time, I'll probably get something in a cup just to be on the safe side. read more

Smooth, and creamy even for the the frozen yogurt, which I had in chocolate peanut butter cup, with a huge glob of peanut butter stuck in the middle. This was our first time visiting Aunt Carries. We heard lots of good things about this place so we decided to give it a shot. First off, we waited in line for over 20 mins when there were only 2 people ahead of us. 2nd the ice cream was not as good. We could have gotten the same quality from any other place. 3rd the 2 girls that waited on us were more into their "male friends" that were 2 people behind us rather than actually taking our order. Every thing we ordered had to be repeated more than twice because they were too busy looking at their "male friends" while making faces at them. I would never go there again.
