If you suffer from Vertigo and think that there is nothing you can do, think again. Up until a week ago, I assumed that was the case, but then as luck would have it, I searched "treating Vertigo" on Google and came upon Dr Bell. Lucky for me she was in San Diego. A visit to Dr Kim Bell may be as close to a medical miracle as you can experience. She approaches it very methodically, first diagnosing exactly what type of vertigo you are experiencing. I had a very particular type of BPPV that is relatively rare but she was able to diagnose it within a couple of minutes. My symptoms were severe spinning after I moved my head in certain directions. After diagnosing my specific issue, she moved to treating it. Within 15 minutes (and I am not kidding you, it was that short) she performed a couple of maneuvers that successfully treated my spinning. I was surprised that something that feels so severe could be treated so quickly and effectively without any medicine. I felt like I got my normal life back. Kimberly Bell is an expert at helping people solve issue related to BPPV. Basically, as I understand it, it's crystals that get stuck in your ear canals which cause vertigo (generally positional). I am certainly no expert at this, but have dealt with imbalance for over 30 years. Kimberly charged me thousands of dollars to "detect" and "fix" my BPPV. After doing my own research it was clear to me that I do not suffer from BPPV. My primary doctors stated the same. However, she felt they could be wrong and still felt the need to charge me for numerous sessions (not covered by insurance) for a great sum of money. After discovering her diagnosis was incorrect, she offered no refund or discount. I myself was a contractor for many years as a software engineer. If I did not complete a job or did not fix a problem, I would not charge. But that is because I have integrity and am a professional. Personally, the money part was not that important to me. What is though is selling people false hope based on a faulty diagnosis, and when that diagnosis is incorrect, offering no discount or refund. If you suffer from positional vertigo / possibly BPPV, I suggest you start with your primary doctor and ask for physical therapy to treat it using Epley (or similar) maneuvers. My last review of the year had to include Kim Bell! Early in 2022, I had to find help and was becoming desperate for relief of Vertigo symptoms following a head injury back in 2020. The symptoms were life altering with no easy way to do basic day-to-day tasks. Even doing the research to find Kim Bell hurt my head - lol! Google saved the day again as I wanted to keep it local and fortunately Kim Bell is not only local, she is an expert in serving those with Vertigo and dizziness symptoms. What I found so informative was watching Kim's conference video she did on Vertigo through UCSD Medical a few years back. I learned she too experienced Vertigo so severe she ultimately made it her life goal to help others that experience this condition. After reaching out to Kim via her website, which was on a Sunday, I received a surprising response within only a couple hours!!! She provided comforting advice that left me feeling relieved to know I was not alone in this agonizing ordeal. She asked me many questions (all through email) to help navigate a solution. Unfortunately, I ended up not seeing Kim and instead took her advice to first see her recommended Neurologist - Dr. Purcell! Dr. Purcell was engaged during my first visit to understanding the back story and reviewing the MRI I had done back in 2020, a few days following the head injury! Purcell along with his Physician Assistants were amazing (a bit rushed) but it covered all the testing they do there in the office - Epley Chair among others. The Epley Chair did not induce Vertigo so they had me go off site for a comprehensive hearing test and found the results to be great - no hearing or vision issues, just Vertigo that continued to improve after the first visit. However, I was also going through Menopause at the same time and had began my first Hormone therapy about 1 month prior to seeing Purcell, and so I clearly noticed the Hormone Therapy helped my head condition by a whopping 80%! The next visit with Dr. Purcell was to arrange Physical Therapy as he discovered that Vertigo may not be the problem, rather a Vestibular issue. I feel unbalanced while walking and exercise so the Physical Therapy has helped me to re-train my brain and become more confident with every move. As of the writing of this review, I feel great due to Hormone Therapy and doing all I can to improve my health with healthy food, sleep, exercise, with about 20% of issues that I'm hopeful will disappear in time! My experience with Dr Kim was fantastic! She is very thorough and willing to answer questions, so I never felt like she left me hanging. What sets her apart is when I explained my symptoms, what I was feeling, etc. , she knew exactly how it felt because this is something she experienced in life. After a month and a half of suffering from the spins every time I would bend over, lay down, turn my head or roll over in bed, I finally started calling around to see who could help me. I'm 35 years old and was starting to worry that something was seriously wrong because my symptoms were slowly getting worse. But I don't have health insurance and for awhile, I thought that maybe I was just imagining it. However, I started to wake up nauseated and couldn't join my friends in basic activities like yoga or dance because I was afraid of getting sick.
