Egg rolls with ground pork and veggies
Linda S.

Just a quick update: Kim Vu remains our favorite Vietnamese restaurant in town. Best Pho...so good that it's hard for me to order anything else from the varied menu. Everything hubby tries is delicious from noodle dishes to Bahn Mi sandwiches to the special rice dish with pork chop (one of his favs). Owner is so friendly. Food is served fresh and hot. An array of sauces available to suit one's taste and/or desire for heat. Simple atmosphere. Outstanding food! Btw, we usually eat in, but they also have a convenient drive up window when you call in a to-go order, so that you can pick your food up from your car.

Can't say anything but great things about Kim Vu. As usual the food and appetizers were superb! Started with crispy crab Rangoon and excellent egg rolls served with an extremely tasty sweet and sour dip. My egg drop soup with fresh sprouts and lettuce and jalapeños peppers were fresh and very spicy! The soup was filled with dumplings, noodles and pork! Topped with cilantro it was great! The owner showed me how to add the perfect amount of hot sauce to my taste. My wife had chicken and veggies on fried noodles and raved about the sauce! We will return! If you never tried Vietnamese food this would be a nice place to start!!

I lovelovelove the food here. It was my first real experience with Vietnamese food, and I can't go back! Everything here is fresh, tasty, and addictive. And honestly, these are my favorite crab rangoons in the world now. The WORLD. I don't know why, but they're just so much better than everywhere I've had them! It's a small restaurant, so when it's packed (and it often is), it'll be a bit of a wait to get a seat. But oh man, is it worth the wait. I think even if I move from Fort Wayne one day, I'll miss this place because I'm starting to become a regular (and nobody beats these rangoons...).

I eat here once a week and it's always amazing. Tried the crab Rangoon and it wasn't good. First time I've had a dish I didn't like.

What to say other than this is the best pho spot in Fort Wayne I can say by far, you can read my other reviews on pho spots out here, but this is the best by far for broth and price. The place is very authentic with the staff running the place, they were very nice. The music was in Vietnamese mixed with music from todays hit artists. Now for the food. The pho was really good broth wise and noodles weren't soggy like the other spots in the area within a 20 mile radius. I only wish they had tripe and tendon, but the broth carries! The egg roll was delicious along with the Vietnamese dumpling. The bahn mi was great, except the meat wasn't grilled like other places and it was cut and prepared differently, just the veggies and bread was good not really the meat. I'm here mainly for the pho so I'll be back!

Great Location! Place is a little small inside but very maintained. Food is affordable with a very nice menu! Rice was not my favorite, but it's still great! Everything I've ever eaten there was hot, fresh, authentic, and delicious. I believe Kim Vu is a hidden gem!

Authentic, real Vietnamese food. Wonton soup and pho are where it's at. The price is reasonable too.

I've wanted to try the Hainan House for years. I've read their good reviews and made it a must…read moretry. I will say that these reviews led me to believe that the Hainan House provided a premium-gourmet product like Han Dynasty and Wu's Chinese. Hainan isn't in that top tier where the product WOWS you. But rather, Hainan is in that next tier down where some things are better than others. I ordered take out versus dinning in. The two elderly employees I interfaced with were very kind and helpful. The facility is easy to find as it is in the same complex as The Clyde. The building is older, in good repair and nicely decorated with Chinese decor (see pictures). Parking surrounds the building in an awkward manner - you will figure it out. The menu is very large (see pictures) as it is at most Chinese restaurants. Prices were fairly reasonable. My order was prepared quickly..so no waiting! The fried pot stickers were fairly standard compared with other Chinese restaurants. Not over cooked. Slightly oily. Tender wrapper and pork insides. It came with a dip that added flavor and moisture. The General Tso's sauce was very tasty. It was moderately thick, slightly sweet, a little spicy and stuck to the breading nicely. Nice taste without being sappy sweet or spicy hot! The chicken pieces were larger than bite size. This made it difficult to eat as I had to cut each piece into small enough pieces to eat with the rice. I found the chicken to be somewhat over cooked and slightly tough. The breading was thick and absorbed the seasoned sauce taste perfectly. The Happy Family sauce was very bland. It coated the meat and vegetables nicely keeping them moist. However it really didn't do much to accent these items. The vegetables were nicely cooked with a slight crisp. I was disappointed in the amount of meat placed in this dish. It felt like I was lucky to get more than one piece of each seafood item. These meats were cooked to expectation - moist and tender. Overall this dish was bland and didn't impress. The white rice was cooked to expectation. Slightly moist. It was easy to pick up with the entree bites. Overall, make sure you understand the product you are getting. I expected a premium product which disappointed me. I might have a different rating if I dined in and selected items that fit the "next tier" level of taste.

There was one older woman at the cash register who was to seat guests, take money, get the to orders taken care of and answer the phone. The latter due to the volume of takeout orders took precedence over seating people standing in line who were ignored and there were empty tables. After almost 40 minutes of standing and a group of 8 who had reservations that the restaurant wasn't set up for-it was a mess and a bad experience for them...we were seated. We weren't waited on for awhile as there were only two people waiting tables bringing out one dish at a time to the tables. They put out a bowl of rice that sat before their food came. Customers were angry and two stood and complained loudly at the service...a woman waiting for carry out was there for two hours! We received our bland food, cold appetizers after 8pm. Some customers waited and then got up and left before their meals arrived. They ended up setting the party of 8 by the entrance door and bathroom...I'm not sure if my family would be returning or not when they are empty of customers. Our waiter kept complaining that the customers were complaining to us...
