No tip required, self seat, free hot or cold water, free side dishes if you dine in, a free ramen maker that provides hot water and cooks your instant ramen in 3 min (you have to buy the ramen here), and a simple but perfect menu of all the major Korean fast foods we love. The place is inviting w plenty of seating and the area is great. There are 3 locations.

A nice stop for a quick meal! The kimbap was just fine, nothing special. The tofu stew was delicious and bubbling with flavor. Might try other Korean places around Chicago before I go here again, but definitely a safe bet for a good meal!

This place is so cute! You can order by yourself and the food comes out pretty fast. It is a little bit on the pricier side but the portions are good for one huge meal or leftovers. The japchae was good but there wasn't as much beef. Overall great little spot and would love to come back to try some of their smaller dishes

I ordered three Beef Bibimbap bowls for takeout here. My online order was ready before the promised time. I was in an out and it was so fast there was literally no interaction between the staff and I. The bowls themselves were really good. Definitely very filling. The beef had great flavors and everything else that it came with made this dish taste very fresh and healthy. The rice at the bottom was just ok. But the highlight of this meal was the hot sauce that comes with the dish. It's thick and sweet with some heat. Definitely gives this dish the punch that it needs. I will without a doubt be returning.

Great casual spot for a meal or takeout! I've dined in and got take out several times and the food is consistent and delicious! My favorites that's I've ordered repeatedly are the japchae (sweet potato noodle) with pork and the kimbap with beef. The japchae noodles are soooo perfectly chewy and soft, yet they hold their shape really well! The noodles stay chewy whether it's fresh, takeout, or after sitting in the fridge and microwaved as leftovers. I don't know how they do it! I like the size of the kimbap pieces. They're substantial! And packed with fresh veggies. The sauce that comes with it is nice and light while also adding some good flavor. Highly recommend both dishes :) The ambience is super casual! You order at the counter, seat yourself, grab your own utensils, and bus your dishes after. Simple, no frills. This is a staple spot that I will keep coming back to!

Came across this place when heading to watch our movie. Craving Korean food and this really helps with my craving. Would highly recommend family and friend to try. I got the chicken tofu soup and my boyfriend got the bulgogi. We also order this fried chicken. Let me say the food is on point, very flavorful. The interior design is very warming and the service is great. Street parking.

Love kimchi pop Service in person is great They have banchan (complimentary sides), usually bean sprouts, shredded pan fried potatoes, pickled radish, and cabbage. I love the soondubu chicken the Korean fried chicken. I could eat the Korean fried chicken every week lol crispy and comes with a side of rice. Second favs are the kimbap and bimbimbop stone bowl (hot). Soondubu is so warm and flavorful and comforting. Will be back to try more! Cute and comfy atmosphere and relaxed which we love.

Small BYOB Korean restaurant we've been wanting to try for a while. The food was really good - especially dumplings and meat, everything came out quickly from the kitchen. They have several condiments like kimchi, fermented sprouts, potatoes and radish in the middle and you decide on quantity. The menu is not huge but still have lots of variety. All the dishes had great flavors and tasted authentic.

Takeout only but great experience. Food was piping hot and clearly very fresh. Had the regular fried rice and the house special fried rice and the scallion kimchi pancake. Everything was delicious. Will definitely try more next time!

Small, cozy place with Korean basics. This was our first visit. The Korean Fried Chicken was delectably crispy on the outside, and moist on the inside. The glaze was not too spicy, but just right. My daughter ordered the Duk Bo ko, and I couldn't help but ask for a taste. So good. I had the tofu bibimbap (knowing we also had ordered the fried chicken). Perfect fried egg on top, loved it. There were 4 self-serve containers of banchan (for dine-in customers only, though). My favorite was the potatoes, which tasted like the soft hash browns. The radish was excellent, as was the Napa cabbage. The bean sprouts were suitably bland, to balance out whatever spicy food you might be eating. Overall, an excellent experience. We will definitely be back. Plus they get bonus points for playing both the debut song, and the latest MV from my favorite band, SHINee.

Then I saw the KBBQ menu and all bets were off. I immediately pivoted and ordered the chef's tasting set, the Diweji, featuring pork jowl, pork collar, and pork belly, complete with an assortment of banchan. Zero regrets. And here's the part that should tell you everything you need to know: I am a certified radish hater. I avoid it whenever possible. Yet somehow, I found myself repeatedly reaching for the radish banchan and asking for more. Even the soup - which also featured radish - was absolutely delicious. If Perilla can convert someone who actively dislikes radish into a fan for one meal, that's saying something. The soju was exactly what I wanted with Korean barbecue: crisp, clean, and refreshing. I appreciate that it was neutral rather than overly sweet. The flavored, sweeter versions aren't really my thing unless the food is setting my mouth on fire. Speaking of spice, the wings were good: juicy, well-executed, and satisfying but I kept wishing they packed a little more heat. They weren't spicy at all, and a bigger kick would have taken them from very good to unforgettable. As for the meats, the pork jowl was gloriously rich and fatty, exactly what you'd expect from that cut. The pork collar ended up being my favorite: flavorful, tender, and with just the right balance of meat and fat. The pork belly was comforting and familiar - the classic KBBQ staple done well, with beautifully rendered edges and that indulgent quality that makes it a crowd-pleaser for a reason. The set also came with potatoes that were unexpectedly delicious. My only complaint? It was far too much food for one person. The service deserves its own mention. Everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. The entire meal was delivered with efficiency and a smile, making a solo diner feel completely comfortable lingering and enjoying the experience. What I thought would be a quick happy hour stop turned into one of my favorite meals.

We ordered a seafood soup, seafood pancake, and a salmon crunch roll. We quickly realized that this was an atypical Korean restaurant experience as we did not receive banchan and there were not many traditional options on the menu. I think that should've been our cue to go, but we stayed and were very disappointed. The service was extremely slow. We had to ask multiple times when it was coming, and when the food finally came out, it was underseasoned and the texture was very off. The seafood pancake tasted deep fried and had chunks of imitation crab. It had the texture of an unrisen focaccia. The soup was tasteless, and the salmon roll was drenched in mayo and eel sauce. They also gave us a "special" hot sauce that tasted like just a mix of sriracha and Tabasco. Small highlights: the ambiance was nice; it seemed clean. Waiter was nice enough. I hate giving bad reviews, but this was quite a shocking meal.

Perilla is a tastefully decorated restaurant, both loungey and rich, but still makes you feel like the joint is all for you. You know, 5 star service is such a lost art, it makes you forget how much you miss it when all of a sudden it happens to be right in front of you. Ricardo, our bartender, what a gem. Forget about the perfectly made drinks that were served to us. Ricardo made us feel right at home with his kind disposition and friendly demeanor. But it doesn't just stop at Ricardo. Everyone was absolutely fantastic. We could have been served 7-11 sushi at this point and I still would have left 5 stars. Food time. The kimchi pork dumplings were an absolute flavor bomb and that parmesan broth gave the dumplings a little extra kick that took it to the next level. Plus, I love when the dumpling wrapper has a little chew to it and isn't this soft mush that dissolves in your mouth. The beef fat frites were a nice treat as well. They were not extra or over the top in anyway. But you can tell when something is done well and correctly, just like these fries were. The Premium Steakhouse Set, in my opinion, is all two people need to enjoy this very special experience. All the accompanying condiments were exceptional on their own and could have functioned as their own course. The Japchae glass noodles were a stunner. The real sleeper was the chopped lettuce greens tossed in their chili vinaigrette. Could have eaten 20 bowls of those lettuce greens. Sadly, I forgot the name of our server who cooked and cut our meat for us. She really added to the experience. She expertly prepared our food while maintaining a fun and pleasant conversation with us. The meat itself, my goodness, tender, smoky, quality-forward, and perfect served with the condiments. We arrived about 20 minutes before opening, expecting a wait, which is totally normal for a popular pop-up. What wasn't normal was that once they opened, they started pulling people out of the line if they wanted full service and planned to eat inside. This created a confusing system where people who arrived much later than us were able to order, eat, and leave before we had even placed our order. I understand that pop-ups can be busy, but the line moved painfully slowly. We ended up waiting about an hour and a half, which felt excessive, especially given how the line was being managed. There were also some smaller issues that added to the frustration. The menu advertised everything bagels, but that's not what we received. The sandwich was around $20, which is pretty steep for a breakfast sandwich. When we ordered, we specifically asked if the sandwich came cut in half and were told, "Yes, it would be way too messy if they weren't pre-cut." Then the sandwich arrived uncut. As for the food itself, it was fine. Not bad, but definitely not memorable enough to justify the long wait, confusing organization, and price point. Overall, the sandwich was okay, but the experience was frustrating and ultimately not worth the time we spent waiting.
