I LOVE this place! This has been one of my favorite Korean eating spots to visit ever since my high school years. They always have a signature soup that they serve . If I was ever blind and tried their soups, I'd know I was in Kimganae! They also share their spicy fermented radish which I particularly like. Good for balancing our stomach bacteria levels! This time I ordered the Kimchi roll with inari and an order of Curry pork cutlet. The Kimchi roll wasn't too good in my opinion but the inari was delicious. Inari is Tofu skin covering rice. The you skin saturated with sweet rice vinegar. Seems basic but I always enjoy this treat! Definitely RECOMMEND for you to give it a try! The curry pork cutlet was simple yet good. I recommend getting this dish because they throw on onions, potatoes, and carrots to complement this dish. I suggest getting this meal from the Western cook menu because they offer two pieces of pork chop as compared to the single piece given in the over rice dish. Went on a weekday at 3:45 PM and it was packed with people both eating at tables and waiting for takeout orders. Service was very quick and friendly. I love this place. When I used to live in Flushing, I used to come here all the time. I usually get the bulgogi with rice. It comes with a side salad and corn. Anything you get comes with soup and radish. Bulgogi roll is also really good as well since I can't eat spicy food. read more

I just want to put it out there and say.....THE FOOD HERE IS AMAZING! The first time I came here I ordered an omelette fried rice cause I was afraid to order something new there. Just from the omeltte fried rice , it was really good! They gave a nice amount (that I couldn't even finish it but I WANTED to!! since it was so good) when you order out they give you soup and salad along with what you ordered. So when you get your food you bag will be packed! (like your ordered extra ) The only bad part about ordering out is that you would have to wait a bit. I mean it is worth the wait but it's pretty small in the restaurant so it gets bothersome after awhile. So word of advise- order before hand so you can pick it up right away. :) The pork cutlet with vegetable curry is really good too. It was loaded with potatoes and carrotes!! It was fresh too, and they didn't over cooked the vegetables like you would get from other places. I felt like I got a lot of veggie intake just from ordering this dish (it's a good thing) . Oh kimganae. The ultimate hangout spot for all the Asian teens. Sigh. That's why it's always packed. Listen I would come all the way from Long Island just to meet my friends and eat here. I guess it's just that I grew up eating here, I have such a huge attachment to it. The portions however have gotten smaller for the rice and meat dishes! Nevertheless, this is the spot for ddubokki, pork/chicken/fish cutlets, fried rice, kimbap! The staff can be overwhelmed but they do try their best to attentive. It's hard when it's packed all the time, can't expect people to be on their A game when they're already swamped with orders and accommodating customers. Prices are reasonable too for the portions. Love this place! They recently remodeled the place and it looks great. Menu hasn't changed much and prices look about the same, which I was thrilled about. I've been coming here for years and the food has always been consistently good. I usually stick to the spicy tuna kimbap but their Donkatsu options are great as well. This place is great to satisfy a craving for Korean food (which I get often). I've tried the pork cutlet, ramen with rice cakes, and cheese dukbokki here and was a fan of all these choices. Fast service and good Korean food :) We were seated quickly and the interior is nice. The prices are good for the amount of food given and tax is also included. There is a large selection of food and we ordered the fish katsu and combination ramyun. They also give complimentary starters of radish kimchi and seafood miso soup. My boyfriend liked the miso soup and even got another bowl of it but I found it too fishy after awhile. The ramyun was good and had a lot of flavor. I've eaten here several times and to me it's like any other Korean restaurant around the area. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, their food is good. I came here with a friend on a friday night and I had ordered the Bibimbap and my friend ordered the Beef over rice. Both were delicious! I wish my order had a little bit more food in it though, but I only say that because I'm a hungry person who can devour a horse with any meal. The staff was friendly and attentive to my friend and me. I like their soup that they serve to everyone so I always get multiple bowls of it throughout the dinner. Honestly. I tried thinking of reasons to not give this place five stars.... I couldn't. This place is located in flushing around all the other Korean stores near by. The staff here is really nice and very attentive I must say. I've been to Kimganae for at least over 20 times and not once have I've been disappointed coming out the store. I usually like to bring friends here as well if they have never tried and not one did they come out disappointed either. Portion of the food is huge, I usually feel pretty full when I leave this place. The Kimganae special is one of my favorites! It includes a fried fish filet, a pork katsu and a hamburger steak. Yes it comes with gravy for the steak and katsu. And yes it comes with tartar sauce for the fish. Comes with corn on the side with a mini salad as well as my favorite carb dish, rice. my mom and i don't come to flushing often, but we decided to come by this place for some korean food. unfortunately, i was kind of let down. -pickup/delivery: they're available for pickup or delivery online via doordash, seamless, ubereats, or grubhub. -outdoor dining: they had a relatively large outdoor seating setup, with social distancing between each table. i'm not sure if they've changed anything about it, especially for the wintertime right now. -payment method: you can pay with cash or card. -service: the waiters were attentive and came to refill our cups every once in a while. we didn't have to wait long for our order to be taken anyway. -amount of time waited: we waited around 15 minutes for our food. in the meantime, they served us free complimentary radish kimchi and soup, which was nice. 9/1/20 -fish cake udon: my mom ordered this since she was in the mood for noodles, and she seemed to enjoy it. the thick udon noodle soup came with cabbage, carrots, scallions, and a variety of different fish cakes. i didn't think that there was anything special to the flavor of this dish, but it was really generously portioned for only $10. (3.5/5) -pork cutlet roll: this kimbap comes with seaweed wrapped in rice, sesame oil, pork cutlet, egg, sweet radish, carrots, and spinach. i feel like they could've used more teriyaki sauce on this, since the flavor was kind of lacking. but, the pork cutlet was cooked just the right amount and had a slightly crispy exterior. i appreciated how they added lots of veggies in this too. the roll was cut into 12 pretty large pieces, and came with a side of pickled ginger too. this was fairly priced at $7.50, but it definitely wasn't the best kimbap that i've ver had. (3.5/5) -kimganae roll: this kimbap comes with seaweed wrapped with rice, sesame oil, sour radish, sausage, carrot, spinach, and egg. once again, the taste was pretty bland; i couldn't even taste the sausage and eggs in it! i could only enjoy the flavor of the sour radish and the textures of the different vegetables. even though this was the same size as the pork cutlet kimpbap roll and cheaper at $6.50, i kind of regretted getting it. (3/5) overall, i can only really give this place 3.5 stars at most, since their prices are on the affordable side. i just think that they probably could do better in terms of the flavor of their food. if i had to make a recommendation, my favorite that i would suggest that you try is the pork cutlet kimbap roll. perhaps we just didn't choose the right dishes to order, but i'm not sure if i see myself coming back anytime soon. read more

The tonkatsu was crispy and juicy, the sauce was good, though more ketchup-y so keep that in mind. The tteokbokki was great, the rice cakes were so chewy (in a good way) and the sauce was spicy yet not too overwhelming. The kimbap was great as well. Came here when my friend and I were famished at around 8.30pm on a Sunday. It's a medium sized shop but have many chefs behind the counter. We were served with soup and pickled white radish immediately after sitting down. Loved the white radish. It's mild spicy but the radish is fermented perfectly, crunchy and flavored to its core. They gave us refills immediately after we finished it each time. (Who doesn't like more free side dishes?) I ordered #45 Spicy pork and squid over rice and shared the seafood rice cakes with my friend. We only waited for about 5min before the food was served. Overall, both were really good with generous serving sizes. However, it can get really spicy after awhile. So be careful about that when thinking of what to order. read more

This is an usual spot for me. I love coming to this place because it's convenient. There's a large parking lot that is very cheap in NYC prices on the other side of the block. Service: The service has been lacking. Sometimes it's fantastic, sometimes it's slow. My last trip to this place, I've gotten horrible service. Once I ordered, they ignored me until I was ready to pay, no refills on water or anything. 3/10 Service Food: The food here is fantastic, I love eating kimbap and I return a lot to this place to get it. Some pictures don't match the food order's size, it's a lot smaller when you order it so you should make sure it's filling. 8/10 Food Cleanliness: The cleanliness of the place is okay. I would definitely come here more often if near this area. 1) Food: --complimentary miso soup & radish kimchi are very good consistently. --K12. Spicy tuna kimbap: this does not have raw tuna. Out of all of their kimbap types, this is my fav. And the serving amount is generous. --D6. Gungjung dukbokki: this was fantastic! Because this is the non-spicy version, I was a bit skeptical how good it could be. But the flavor was spot on, and it was better than spicy/red dukbokki version. The broth that dekbokki was in was flavorful. Highly recommend. --C1. Kimgane pork cutlet w/ gravy: their pork cutlet has perfectly crispy breading w/ juicy, tender pork inside. The sides (Japanese style cabbage slaw & mandarin slices) were refreshing and went well w/ the savory pork entree. And it comes with rice. The gravy was light and complimented the pork cutlet really well. Everything was fresh & served hot. Highly recommend. 2) Parking: It is incredibly difficult to find street parking here even during holidays/weekends. So highly recommend using subway instead -- if coming from Manhattan. Only a short walk from subway stop. 3) Although you can pay w/ credit card at this place, tips are given in cash only. I've been to Kimganae several times and I've never been disappointed. This is where I go for Korean fast food. I only order the same few items that I love. I love tuna kimbap and the special combination plate which consists of a hamburger steak, pork cutlet (tonkatsu) and fried fish filet. Can I order just a tonkatsu plate, hamburger steak or just the fried fish filet plate by itself...I could but why do that when you can have all three items on one plate?!? I don't deter from these two items and I'm happy. Oh and there is free unlimited miso soup. Love this place. Wish there were more places like this and wished there was easier parking. read more

The customer service was decent when i first walked i had to order at the cashier then they asked me if i wanted to dine in, in which i said yes then they had someone give me a table. When you sit down they give you appetizers which were miso soup and radish. The miso soup and radish were delicious. But the two rolls i ordered were very bland. The sausage roll and spicy tune roll were very bland, they lacked lots of flavors the ingredients felt like it was left on the counter over night. The place also lacked space for dine in. This Place is one of my favorite to go places for Korean food. The portion is very generous and for me it's very filling. When you dine in you get water, turnip kimchi and soup. There is a lot of good to choose from. And I usually go during lunch because there is lunch discount. Not a lot but totally worth it. I usually get the bulgogi, and it comes with rice, corn, and salad. It's a big portion. Other things I get are dukkbokki, the kimganae special, the fish with tar tar sauce. It is Devine! ! I really like this place because it's a good price with great food. I take my friends there when they say they want to try Korean food and I want to stay on the safe side and they LOVE it! For the price the food is quite solid. The place is a bit ghetto looking. It's like a Koreanized fast food establishment but you do get served by a waiter. The pork cutlet (tonkatsu) with rice is solid. They give you 2 generous size portions of pork cutlet that are cooked well. They are crispy. The tonkatsu sauce isn't overbearingly sweet. The omurice is a bit sweet for my taste...maybe too much ketchup? Overall it is a hearty portion though. Good luck trying to finish it yourself. The naengguksu - cold noodle soup is refreshing. It's similar to naengmyun but not quite. it was probably my fave dish that we shared together. They have lots of kimbap options that i want to try. I def will be back to eat some more. I do love the free soup that they give. It has a pleasant kick to it that is very refreshing for a summer day...even a winter day. The servers are bilingual. I don't quite get Kimganae. Based on their popularity on Yelp, we decided to give them a try. We walked in around 2:30 for a late lunch and the place was still packed (good sign). We waited for maybe 10-15 min and got seated in a little corner. Not a bad wait given it was packed. We ordered the popular cheese tonkatsu, spicy pork over rice, and squid/beef roll. While we waited for our food, the server brought us complimentary bowls of soup and little picked veggie dish. So far so good. Then the roll came. I was surprised at how huge... bland, and dry it was. I usually don't like to use sauce on rolls... but this one had to be generously doused with sauce. Hubby's spicy pork over rice came next. That was the star of the meal. Pork was spicy and tasty. Went nicely with the rice. My cheese tonkatsu came last. Maybe it was an off day for them, maybe I just really don't want cheese over my fried pork cutlets... I don't know. But the dish didn't quite sing to me like the other raving reviews. First off, the pork cutlets looked generous in size, but one bite into it, you see that it was very thin with thick breading. It didn't help that it was over-fried / over-cooked quite a bit. Adding a thick slab of cheese, yeah, just not good. I had two bites and was done with it. Hubby actually took over and said it reminded him of his childhood after school snack. As in, he would take left over fried pork chops, add two slices of cheese and "nuke it good" in the microwave and chew on it like jerky while watching TV. Riiiiight.... "Go for it", I told him, while I chomp on his spicy pork over rice dish. So I get that the pricing is pretty good (especially for their lunch special). The service was indeed fast and friendly. Had I lived in Flushing or nearby area, I'd probably give another couple of tries because there certainly are other dishes that look interesting. I don't know too much about Korean food aside from the typical non-spicy dishes as I have almost zero spice tolerance.
