I have been with Kimlin for 10-15 years. I have a 3 unit propane apt. bld. They were overall fair, better at first than a different company who tried a "scare tactic." After I bought the house and was setting up an account they used the "bubble technique" and stated that I had a leak and needed to sell me new equipment. Many years later, same equipment, no problems. Regarding Kimlin their techs are fair in training. I had a heater that wouldn not stay lite and they had no idea how to fix it, but stated I could buy another unit and charged me for that advice. A friend of mine ordered a part on line for $30, vacuumed it and it has been working fine ever since - years later. They did remove the charge after I complained for their poor advice. After the father retired, the son (3rd generation) took over and the service steadily declined. In the last 4 years I have had 4 tenants have issues with no heat during the winter months. It always seemed to occur when my tenants were away. After many many attempts to resolve the issues with Kimlin, I had to leave. Not another winter with such a risk of freezing pipes. The 1st winter was over Christmas, where I had to babysit the building with electric heaters. Kimlin has charged me to leave, (removal of the tanks and restocking fees). This is unfair practice. Not ethical. I had to leave due to their negligence and they are charging me. This is bizarre and unethical. Unfortunately, I will have to go to small claims court to recover fees due to their negligence. They refused reimbursement and a refund check never came. read more

Would never use again and would never recommend to anyone. Moved out of my apartment Nov 1st and called to confirm before that date that they would reimburse me for any propane unused at the time we moved out. On nov 1st a kimlin service truck came and checked the propane and told me it was nearly full and they would send me a check for the reimbursement (almost $200 that I'd planned on using for Christmas gifts). On Nov 17th I still hadn't received my reimbursement so I called and was told that they sent the reimbursement request to the dept that writes the checks that day. They couldn't give me any answer for why they didn't send the request until Nov 17th but said it would take 4-6 weeks to write and send the check. It's now been more than 6 weeks and I haven't received the reimbursement that I am owed. Today I called and they wouldn't talk to me about it, saying they are only dealing with heating emergencies and to try to call tomorrow. **as an update- I called back today and was told that a supervisor looked at the refund and changed it from $193.14 to $163 (the agent I spoke to couldn't explain why and acknowledged that it was originally $193). When the supervisor did this, she cancelled the refund request and submitted a new one. So there is now no timeline they can give me for when I'll get my (incorrect) refund. I have been a customer for nearly 15 years and very soon won't be. First: I don't know who Devin is, but I have never met a man in sales/service more smug who could give a total crap less about customer service- just WOW- truly could care less. I have called Kimlin 3 times in an attempt for them to run a gas line to a new stove we have purchased. The fist time, Devin completely drops the ball- no tech is dispatched the following week as promised. 2nd call: Tech arrives at driveway at 3:30pm, say he cannot makes it up my driveway, "it's icy, I'm not gonna risk the truck". It is a bit icy, my truck doesn't slip an iota driving up 45 minutes later when I return from work. 3rd call: Tech arrives at home with a seriously crappy attitude and is a total jerk. Tells my wife to call when I have the parts...WTF? This is a simple job, run a line from 3/4 black pipe/tee to a stove 10 feet away in the ceiling with movable panels and easy access from the basement. I've heard from other of Kimlin customers that are not happy with them, well, here's just 1 more that won't be a customer very soon. FU Kimlin Energy, I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

I was a customer for 15 years. For the first 14 years I got bills of around $25 every 6 months. I was only using the propane for the stove. Then they introduced a $105 minimum charge which I was never notified of. Now I am cancelling their service and they are charging me a ridiculous $160 disconnection fee. My final bill is a whopping $256. Total rip-off. Please don't use them. read more

This company is sinking fast... I have had them for over 10+ years and they have so many issues. 1. overfilling (evaporates, wasted $) Present issues 2. letting tanks run out (especially over holidays) Present issues. 3. unclear statements and fees (I've tried the pre pay and they never left a balance (now envir. fees...?) Present issue. 4. forgetting where tanks are (so they had run out - on Christmas- New Years 2016- and took 4 tires to fill it over a week after detail explanation of where the tanks are. The tanks have never moved - they've been delivering for over 10+ years). 5. I went to the office and no one was there - during business hours back in 2016. 6. Today 1/14/2019 leaving a note on a door that the pilot light needs to be lit, when the person was away and it's 15 degrees outside. 7. They do not answer the ER services. 8. Took months for person to have service set up and she ran out of gas. They kept not answering the calls and emails. Then tried to charge for 'services.' They are corrupt at best. Do not do business with this company. It's overpriced and the service is awful. It's sad that Max is ruining the family name. His dad and grandfather should be ashamed. Prepaid last winter and twice ran out of of gas due to non deliveries. He lied about deliveries in a snowstorm. Paid Kimlin $ to convert a stove from natural gas to propane and the service tech plugged it into the wrong outlet. Max has since cleaned up the Kimlin FB page, but he actually used to berate his customers there. read more

I've been a loyal customer for years and decided to finally close my account after the management changed a few years ago. The company's delivery, customer service and accounting are just terrible. They consistently failed to refill my tank before it ran out and even after I prepaid for fuel. Customer service had a million rude excuses and zero sincere apologies. They don't care or try harder the next time. The customer service people just get louder, more defensive and nasty. Kimlin has let us down too many times and we are DONE. (1) We came home to a house at 22 degrees and frozen/burst pipes because they did not deliver as promised. (2) This is not the first time they have missed a SCHEDULED delivery. (3) Our neighbors report similar problems. And their customer service is not at all helpful. I have a duplex rental and needed a fill after tenant left. I called Kimlin Propane and spoke with Melinda office manager. I am under no contract with them and Kimlin has the best prices around they gladly filled my tanks and after Melinda was working all day on her way home she went out of her way for this and dropped packets at my rentals for my tenants. I highly recommend Kimlin Propane and feel if any problems simply ask for Melinda. Thank You Melinda with the help I received from you. This company is awesome! We are weekenders from NYC. In the 8 years we have used them, never a problem, prompt deliveries and correct billing. The personal attention we received is notable: When we arrived to our house on Thanksgiving eve with heat issues due to a part that needed replacing, they went above and beyond to get our heat working well and expedite the part (an inexpensive part they could have named their price for) for which they charged us very little. Another year our old hot water heater was about to go. Once again, they came over right away and got things working quickly and efficiently with caring smiles. read more

Kimlin has been my propane provider for the last few years, and they have kept me happy. When my regulator froze up two winters ago, then send a guy out to help me free of charge. The lady I spoke with on the phone was so understanding and got a service tech to me ASAP even though I live in the middle of the woods in a very snow heavy area. I really like having them as my provider because they really care about my own personal circumstances, that's something I wasn't getting from my old propane provider because they were a big business sort of company. Had a great experience getting fuel to my weekend home that I commute to from Manhattan. These people really know their stuff, and really care about getting new customers and keeping them. Even though I'm not going to be living in this house all the time, they get that! They helped me pick the right tank size for my usage, and even put me on a schedule that works just for me and my family's needs. Making the commuting from Manhattan to Stone Ridge on the weekends go so smoothly, I don't have to worry if my house is warm when I get there or not. Great family run company!! read more

After being a customer of this company for many years...We have had enough of their incompetence!!!When I was paying $3.055/lb for propane to begin with, then their entire staff is made up of liars that say anything to appease you only to go back on what they said and then lie!!! I called them in September and told them that I could smell propane all around the outside of my house, the girl on the phone said "Oh, we are going to send out a tech right away!" I asked specifically if there was a charge for that.. "Oh, no, that is an emergency so there is no charge to send someone out!" Okay, so I miss more than a couple hours work to meet the "tech"... Well, I could've let my dog do the same job that he did! He walked around smelling the air, smelled around the tank, put liquid soap on the connection and then looked at my water heater.....Then along came the bill for $80.00!!! Then for my October delivery, the credit card didn't go through (the credit union, HVFCU, is issuing new cards that have new #'s so it was declined due to the old CC# on file), do they call us?? Two cell#'s in their "file"....Do they call at all???? NO!!! They come 4 weeks later and put a lock on our tank!!!!! Do they leave a notice on the door???? NO!!!! We get home in the dark after work and the stove and water heater don't work.....Thinking something is wrong and maybe the line broke downstairs and that my house and family could blow up....We have someone come to check everything only to find a lock on the tank!!!! Seriously???? It was only after an hour of waiting for Kimlin to call us back, that we find out that it was for "non-payment"!!! Really???? We have been their customer for more than 6 years, they have ALWAYS been paid!!! And then to say that someone called was a total lie!!! This could have been VERY easily fixed had someone called either of our cell #'s!! Then when we speak to some boy in their answering department that tells us that ."someone will be there to remove the lock TODAY" ...Then 4 hours later(today is Friday), after having to stay home from work to wait for them, I call back to be told that they can't get someone to my house until MONDAY????!!!!! WTF????? then the so called manager tries to tell me that I was told that they would try to get someone here today and how sorry she is and how she understands....And, oh....let her not to forget to advise me that there is a $40 charge for them to come hook it back up!!!...They must be out of their @#%& mind!!!!!.....So now, they are coming to pick up their tank off my property on Monday and I have just purchased my own 100lb propane tank and had it filled all for only $203.99 at my local Ace Hardware!!! Yes, that would be only $1.39/lb as opposed to $3.055/lb from the crooks called Kimlin!!! Do your research before getting involved with crooks! And when they pick up my tank it had more than 30lbs left in it! I will not just take pictures of it, I will make a video and post it so that they cant screw me over like they did the guy a few reviews up!!I will see them in court for any crap they try to avoid paying my refund!!! read more

BEWARE! This company is HORRIBLE. I used them for over 10 years, but something has happened in the past year or two...they insisted on having my credit card numbers even though I have always paid my bills on time. They started charging different rates for different properties that I have and I came to find out that it is higher than the competition. I got estimates from them and another company to run a line, the other company had the better price. I told Kimlin that I would be switching companies and they sent their guy to run a line and charged me their higher price (!) After cancelling they've also charged exorbitant amounts for picking up the tanks so that they are saying I owe them for not only running a line that I didn't request but for paying them for their crappy service when their tanks sat here for months waiting for them to come and pick them up. I don't know what's going on over there, but I'd stay far FAR away. read more

I was notified that Kimlin propane was unable to process one of my transactions and I was very confused as to why this was happening. The first phone call I had with a worker in attempts to solve this problem, I notified her that my card had expired, gave her the new information, yet it still was not processing. I go home one day to discover that my tank has been locked and I no longer have hot water. I contact my bank again and they inform me that the entire time Kimlin Propane was using my expired card (7 or 8 attempts were made, all after I supplied my new information). I contact Kimlin propane to tell them this, they process the transaction, and then inform me that I have to pay an additional $45 to have it turned back on.. Meanwhile, this was their mistake the entire time. I inform them of the situation and they responded with "there is no note that you gave us your updated card information so we have to charge you." My wife called them few days ago advising them our tank was below 8%(almost empty) they said they will send a truck on the following morning, at this point the temp is 3 deg, following day no body came, not even a phone call to let you know their trucks broke down because that was the excuse they gave us. At this point they told me they will send a truck the following day, well the truck never came,I called again and they said it will come on Saturday 1/11/14 am...?????? Service is bad, customer service not to professional and with a attitude like they don't care. We are not getting propane for free we are paying and don't need that kind of mentality from unprofessional staff...they need to learn that us the customers are keeping their company alive..Maybe the owners should start looking for a new staff and try something new.....I am so upset because it is not right what they doing to the customer. read more
