I don't even know where to begin..I started by messaging Hira as she came recommended to me by some people and I thought I would give her a shot for my daughter's upcoming birthday. That was the only time she responded right away. We exchanged ideas and I told her what I needed. No response after that. I said I needed pricing and she said she would get it to me that day before 9pm. Radio silence. I didn't want to keep messaging/bothering her but sent her a few messages regardless because I was waiting. Nothing. Two days later I had to message again because I needed confirmation since I was already "talking" with her. No response again. Now the next day, a little upset, I messaged yet again and said "please let me know if you can't, so I can look around elsewhere and place an order." She responded immediately and said she had a hectic weekend and it was super busy. I understand, totally get it. She finally sent me pricing for cakes and cookies, but we decided to just go with the cookies. She said great and that she would get back to me and let me know which ones she could make etc..I said perfect. STILL WAITING. It's been 9 days since I last heard from her. I didn't even get to look around elsewhere because she left me out to dry. And now it's too late cause I need them this weekend. Look, I know it may not be a big order but I wanted to still give her the business. I felt that because it wasn't a big enough order she kind of just tossed me aside and stopped responding. I'm all about supporting small businesses but not at this rate. Even if she responds now (after seeing this review), I will not be placing any orders or recommending her. I thought it would be worth coming back to update and share with everyone - despite contacting Hira multiple times and explaining just how unsatisfied we were, we heard nothing. No attempt to make things better or to simply refund some of the money that we was wasted on a terrible cake. Even after posting reviews, I heard nothing. This is clearly a trend and not a one time thing. Makes me wonder how many of these 5 star reviews are from real true customers, and how many are just Hira's friends and family. I'd heard a lot about Scrumptious by Hira AND I have seen and tasted her work at some events I've shot, so I decided to order my sisters baby shower cake here. All her creations are adorable and pleasing to the eyes. I wanted a small 6" naked cake with a Woodlands theme. I ordered some little forest animals to put on top of the cake too. They now sit a top of one of my nephews shelves. Swoon. The f'n cutest!! Anyways, the cake's presentation was gorgeous but the inside was a little on the dry side, maybe because it was so small? My favorite birthday cake that I've ever had! Decorated beautifully and tasted great. The frosting had just the right amount of sugar and was so smooth and the best frosting I've ever had! I got in contact with Hira a few months ago on making a cake for my cousins baby shower. I had heard amazing things and knew she was the baker I wanted to hire. And everyone's glowing recommendations were 100% true. She not only listened to my ideas on how to incorporate the theme "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" with the decorations on the cake and desserts, but also she suggested some amazing ones. She has amazing flavor choices for the cake with a ton of room for customization, exactly how you want it, she will make it. We ended up going with the bottom tier marble with a fresh fruit filling and the top tier was cookies and cream. We also specified the cake be covered entirely in buttercream with no fondant and that wasn't even an issue with her as it can be to some bakeries. We also had her make the party favor boxes since she has such reasonable prices. She customized them exactly to our theme, half with silver writing and half with gold. On the day of the event, her and her adorable son came and set everything up in a very timely and professional manner and it exceeded my expectations. The cake not only looked stunning but tasted delicious, along with the cake pops, macarons, and tiramisu cups. It all blended with the theme flawlessly. Cute place. Good location. Seems like she does mostly custom orders for great looking cakes but is branching out to more of a retail scene. However, why have such a big space when you have such limited offerings for people who walk in? When I visited, there were only a few cupcakes, a few tiny macarons and two Oreo bars. The cupcakes looked and tasted homemade. The cupcakes were only $2 each so the low price reflects the average size, no frills, same frosting on every cupcake situation. Taste was pretty good but nothing impressive. I'd recommend having a variety of cupcakes, make em bigger, tastier and better looking at the level of a professional bakery. I'd pay more for a prettier, tastier cupcake that (should) reflect her overall aesthetic. This has the potential to be a cute place to get dessert after lunch or dinner.
