I've worked in the Mira Mesa area for the last few years and Kim's deli is my favorite place to go for lunch. They have a huge selection of different menu items ranging from traditional sandwiches to teriyaki bowls to wraps and I can't say I've ever been dissatisfied with anything I've gotten.To top it off, their prices are very reasonable. My coworkers love this place, and it's never too crowded. They have daily specials, all of which are super tasty. My favorites have to be the spaghetti (Tuesday) and Salmon Bowl (Thursday). The spaghetti has that home cooked flavor and comes with salad and garlic bread for under $7. The salmon bowl is exquisite. Huge chunks of salmon, sticky rice, carrots, cucumbers, imitation crab, seaweed... Get it and thank me later. Oh, Mr. and Mrs. Kim, where would we be in the mornings without you?! Kim's Deli is a small cafe at the end of the Arjons cul-de-sac. It's tucked away in an awkward corner of the office/industrial wasteland that is Miramar. There are a few tables there, but I think most people call in and pick up their food. Out of all the little delis and cafes around these parts, Kim's serves up the tastiest fare. I think if all the other businesses in the area disappeared, my company would keep Kim's afloat. Our whole department makes morning Kim's runs almost daily. We get Kim's for breakfast, sometimes for lunch, and on occasion, both. I swear by the Vegetarian Breakfast Burrito, especially on those mornings when I have a hangover and a little rumbly in the tumbly. Something about is just so darn good, and it's nicely filling too. For some reason, it tastes even better as leftovers, so sometimes I'll save half to eat later (is that gross? haha). My coworkers seem to favor the Sun Rise Bagel, judging from the frequency of the orders. As for lunch selections, I'm a veg-head, so admittedly my samplings there have been somewhat limited, but I can recommend the Garden Burger and the Veggie Sammiches. Other popular choices gleaned from my coworkers are the Padre Wrap, and some of the daily lunch specials. A word to the wise: Thursday's lunch special, the California Salmon Bowl, is wildly popular. People call ahead in the morning to place orders for these, as Kim's has been known to run out of them super early. I really like to support local businesses, but it makes it easy when the people who work there are so freakin' nice. I once saw Mr. Kim burst through the doors of our office, his car left running at the curb, to personally deliver a side of salad dressing that one of my coworkers had forgotten to take when they picked up their food. I finally came here last thursday and my experience was just okay. I was really excited to try the spicy tuna bowl that my friend has been talking about for days. Meh. First of all the spicy tuna was super spicy... I mean, I'm a big fan of spicy foods but this one was ridiculously spicy. I had to take a couple of swigs of my soda after every bite I took. The bowl includes a crapload of cucumber and carrots, a small portion of rice and spicy tuna, 2 slices of avacodo and random pieces of crab. I can only comment on the food here as I've never set foot in the place. I drove by it once looking for something else. Marked it down and looked it up. The reviews were good, so I recommended it to my coworkers for lunch and has become a weekly place to pick up lunch for a small group in the office. I've tried the Spicy Tuna Bowl which is a go-to choice for one coworker, and the Spicy pork sandwich, which was kind of a bahn mi style thing. Both were very good. I also tried the Turkey Rueben which was pretty good but the bread seemed to be only grilled on one side and the bottom was a little soggy after traveling back to the office with a pickle spear. I've worked down the street from Kim's Deli for 4 years. It never ceases to amaze me how this place NEVER GETS OLD. Let's start off with breakfast, shall we? The Sunrise Bagel: Everything a bagel should be. Warm, toasty, slathered in cream cheese and topped with tomato and crispy bacon. If you're feelin' balsy, might I suggest you get extra bacon. This is especially good on a sesame bagel. The Breakfast Sandwich: Be forewarned, the Kims are not shy with the butter. Your choice of bread, a couple scrambled eggs and cheese (the good kind, you know, individually wrapped in plastic and melts supurbly). Also good on an English muffin. The Breakfast Burrito: Always a good choice... minus the bell peppers for me, + extra cheese and bacon (is there any other way to have it? seriously, is there?). And then, there's lunch. I won't even go into the plethora of items they have here, but here are my faves: The Tuesday Special - Spaghetti and Meatballs: I'm slurping this down as I type. It is Tuesday, after all. This is no nonsense spaghetti and meatballs. Every time I have it, it takes me back to elementary school. Easy-peasy simple. Noodles. Sauce. Meatballs. All I'm missing is a hard plastic yellow tray, a half pint of milk and some carrot raisin salad. This special also comes with a side salad and , again, no nonsense garlic bread. The Thursday Special - Salmon Bowl: Seriously, go get this, like, now. Well, not now because it's not Thursday, but you get the gist. Grilled salmon, sticky rice, sliced carrots & cucumbers, and a big ol' chunk of avocado. There's also some mystery krab (yes, with a "k") in there, I usually avoid it. Uh, did I mention that the specials are only $6.45, and it comes with a soft drink? Yeah, I know right? Amazing. Other good picks are the TAB wrap, the Turkey & Avo sandwich, the spicy tuna roll (again, easy-peasy simple no nonsense rolls)... anything's good. Just got support the Kim's, they're super sweet. Really nice little hole-in-the-wall place with so much more to offer than just deli sandwiches. I haven't actually tried any of their typical deli sandwiches but the boyfriend says they are good, though we agree on the fact that the best thing here is the spicy tuna bowl. A big portion of rice, sliced carrots and cucumber, avocado and spicy tuna fills me up well and offers so much more food than a normal spicy tuna roll at any other place (and for about the same price, too)! My last visit I accidentally got it so spicy that my tongue couldn't handle it all in one sitting. I popped that baby into the fridge and it was just as good a few hours later, even after I put the sauce all over it. Another thing I've tried is the spicy pork sandwich. What this place lacks in atmosphere, seating, and location (it is very well concealed by the local Big Brothers Big Sisters office), it more than makes up in selection. I think they have the biggest menu of any of the competing delis in its vicinity--sandwiches, bowls, wraps, etc. I got a "Padre Wrap" on my first visit today: a spinach tortilla holding chicken, avocado, lettuce, bacon, and dressing, if I'm remembering it all. After filtering through the pages and pages of eateries available in Miramar on my yelp app, I decided I wanted to hit a deli. The directions on the Yelp app are wrong, but I guess it helps weed out the dumb ones... and idiots shouldn't deserve to find diamonds in the rough business district. Upon entering I was pleasantly surprised at how extensive the menu was for a deli. They've got rolls, wraps, bowls, and burritos. Their lunch special is cheaper than most fast food value meals, and the quality is far more superior. Although it was my first visit, I could tell their customer service was something special. They treated everyone as if they were regulars and they treated regulars like family (without the sibling rivalry undertones). I decided to have their Thai Chicken Wrap and it came with a side of peanut sauce. It's almost like having a Thai meal without using utensils! The veggies tasted fresh, and the peanut sauce may have been some of the best I've tasted. Similar to an overgrown spring roll, this wrap is good for those who are watching carbs and counting their calories (if they don't OD on the peanut sauce). I'd definitely come back for more. Came here with my brother for a quick lunch and had heard great things about their spicy salmon bowl. I always wanted to try them, but they are usually only open during weekday lunch hours so I seized the chance while I had a rare Tuesday off. Went in and the place looks like a typical hole in the wall sandwich shop. We were there kind of early so we were the only ones there. Got two orders of the spicy salmon bowl. Salmon bowl is AMAZING. Really big portion and perfectly flavored. Tasted quite fresh and really cheap for the amount they give you ($7.50). Definitely will be back so long as they are open. They really satisfied my sushi/fish craving without having to spend $$$ on expensive sushi rolls. read more

Right down the street from my work! I've only tried the spicy tuna bowl and that's all I needed to give it a 4 stars. You call in the order and they have it ready right away. The bowl is loaded with a pile of spicy tuna. Comes with shredded carrots and cucumbers along with your choice or white or brown rice. I go no rice on mine. It's fantastic lil salad. Almost like a roll minus the seaweed. They do give you a little cup of seaweed to throw on top along with a lemon and some sauce. I just dump it all on and boom. Delish! I've only ever had two things here: BLTs and salmon bowls. Their special on Thursday is salmon bowls and that's what got me hooked on this place. It's so popular that sometimes they sell out! The BLTs are good too, but I don't think you can really go wrong with it. The service is fast, which is good because most of the customers come on their lunch. The salmon bowls are delicious and a good amount of food to fill you up. There's not always a lot of seating because sometimes people come in groups from their offices so it takes up a lot of space, but most of the time I take it to go. Only thing is, there's a $3.00 minimum on cards, so if you end up wanting a candy bar after your meal, you either have to buy three or buy it with your meal. read more

I like that they added Korean side dishes to the serving like pickled cucumber and carrots. I also love the fact that their servings are fairly generous and that they add avocado and have the option of getting brown rice. I'm not usually a big fan of deli sandwiches -- I'm way too picky about my meats and condiments -- but this place got such high reviews that I had to give it a try. This hole in the wall is pretty tasty. I came in on a Thursday, and the smell of fish was pretty powerful in the deli -- not terrible mind you, but just powerful. I had the special Salmon Bowl and it was quite tasty -- a good amount of rice, fresh raw veggies (cucumber and carrot), very creamy and fresh avocado, and grilled salmon. The soy sauce (maybe it's yuzu sauce), that comes with it complemented the food very well -- slightly sweet. A few dashes of siracha to spice things up just made my day. My gf had the torpedo -- an italian meat bomb sandwich that actually was well balanced and quite tasty. The baloney on that sandwich initially sounds weird, but the little bit of fattyness cut the other meats well. I loved the pickle that came with their sandwich -- good sourness to it, but finished slightly sweet. Definitely coming back here again! I used to frequent this place when I worked in the area, and all I have ever ordered there was the tuna bowl. I since have found another job and have been 2 months removed and I'm having withdrawls!
