Pork Hash! I'm hoping Yelp picks this up in the algorithm when recommending spots for Pork Hash. I've been trying to find a good pork hash spot after a number of my favorite iconic spots have closed over the years. Reminds me of the ones I used to eat at Char Hung Sut. They use a white wrap (as opposed to the yellow shu mai ones that I've seen on "pork hash" lately). The pork is juicy and plentiful. Price is great. I visited Kin Sun on Friday, 1/31/25, at 11:40a to pick up lunch and placed a take out order. The shop was bustling with people getting their Chinese New Year fare. Unfortunately, today they didn't have my stuffed Bittermelon that I always get when I come here. But, today they had Gau that was on sale. I purchased that, and it was soft and sweet, the way I enjoy it. Thus, I ordered a 1/2 pound of Char Sui that was brimming with juiciness. It was indeed flavorful. I also got a plate filled with 1/2 chow fun and 1/2 a serving of fried rice. The starches went well with my 3 choices of entrees. I got the roast duck, fried shrimp, and Chinese sour cabbage. The duck was succulent and had so much flavor. The fried shrimp was soft and the shrimp shell had a nice crunch to it. The Chinese cabbage dish was crisp and sweet and sour. Our service was quick, and they now accept credit cards since my last review 6 years ago. Overall, this is a great place to get take out Chinese Food with great variety and flavor. read more

I love this place. I came here on a Sunday with a craving for Chinese food and have always had good food at Kin Sun. When you enter and see the prepared foods behind the glass it is hard not to buy anything because the food looks so fresh and delicious. I chose chow fun over the fried rice this time but the fried rice looked Ono. I chose a 2 choice lunch plate with sweet sour pig's feet and tripe. I enjoyed the pig's feet and the flavor of the sweet sour was on the mild side which I liked. The tripe I liked better, cooked to a perfect doneness and it had a spiciness to it which I liked. A hole-in-the-wall that reminds me of a Chinese takeout place back home, but with even more selection! Their meat entrees are solid choices: pork with crispy pork skin, BBQ pork, and duck. This restaurant is conveniently located at Windward City on the Starbucks end of the shopping center and has a lot of parking, it was a rainy day today and I was craving some nice warm soup. My father and I decided to try their won ton mein for the first time. It was excellent! It was so good, I dove right in and forgot to take a photo of my won ton mein! We got it to go. It cost 30 cents extra for separate soup but well worth it because they gave a lot of soup! My dad enjoyed the won ton mein saying the won tons were huge and tasty and char siu was excellent as well as a tasty soup w no msg. The won ton mein was $10 and had 6 won tons, several pieces of yummy char siu, some won bok, and yummy noodles and soup, I noticed they have reasonable prices for party trays. $29 for a small tray of gon lo mein, perfect for a potluck. For $13, the chow fun was delicious, not a lot of flavor but the mains did have a ton. The stuffed tofu, delicious and a little bit of spice. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. Even the chow fun was not like I've had previously. Its mostly take out but have a couple of tables for dine in. They have char sui, roast pork and roast duck hanging on display. I've bought these items for the Super Bowl parties. Love them all. After work decided to grab a snack so stopped by Kin Sun located in the Windward City Shopping center . I was craving for some rice cake for awhile thanks to fellow Yelper Fran.C. It was ok lots of air holes but it just was lacking something I cannot point out. Need to head down to Chinatown one day just been so busy. Also ordered some pork hash it was very tasty and very big. They also have a nice selection of plate lunches choices and also they carry Char Siu and Roast Duck. Next time I'm in the area need to try their Char Siu. Support local keep safe read more

Chinese food in Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii... Don't you agree... Food tastes better when you're hungry! Maybe I'm not the best planner... Somehow, I have so many things to do that by the time I realize that I haven't eaten yet, I'm at the edge of what feels like starvation! Haha! Yes, dramatic, but... That's how I feel! So, looking for comfort food to quiet my empty tummy, I turned to Kin Sun at Windward City Shopping Center. It's located between Foodland and Starbucks... Right next to Kozo Sushi and Supercuts. There's lots of free parking and the Service is cheerful and helpful! My eyes opened wide when I saw familiar food like stuffed bitter melon and Jai (Monk's Food, a vegetarian dish). My mom knows how to make these dishes, but it takes a lot of work that I don't want her to do. All I have to do is point (it's cafeteria style) and they put it on my plate! So easy! Of course, I wanted everything. That's why I got the maximum... the 4-choice plate ...with chow funn noodles (Those wide, chewy noodles make me happy!): 1. The jai was excellent...I gobbled it all up. This version is not as intricate as my mom's (she uses 13 ingredients, including ginko nuts and faht choi), but I can't wait another 5 weeks for Chinese New Year when she makes it. It will have to do. 2. The sweet sour pork was a bit fatty - I had been warned from Krysten I.'s review... Ha! I just wanted to taste..m 3. The sweet sour cabbage wasn't as good as other restaurants... I guess because it's sitting in a warmer, it's not as crisp as freshly made items. 4. The long Beans with chicken was surprisingly good. I don't normally like chicken - however, this chicken was thinly sliced, so there were no inconvenient bones nor yukky knuckles and veins to pick out! The beans were fresh and not mushy! Wow! Gosh... I will return soon when I'm craving home cooked Chinese cuisine. I should get the stuffed Bitter melon and get my mom's opinion! That would be a good test for quality! Generous portions for the Wor Won Ton Mein. We all enjoyed it. We also bought a pound of takeout char sui and two rice cakes. All were enjoyed. I had never tried this place before as we don't live nearby but hope to return when we are in the area. Great attentive service for me and my Mom who is 97 YOA. Mom enjoyed her green beans, tofu dish, and fried rice plate lunch. I decided to try their won ton saimin. The won tons were stuffed with ground beef with a hint of shrimp. Also, the saimin had big chunks in house made char siu. One bowl was very much satisfying. I would like try other entrees the next time. One of the servers was so generous with my Mom. She gave my Mom a huge wedge of their rice cake for our drive home. So nice of her! read more

Love this hole in the wall! I've gotten the won ton green onion ginger sauce noodles and it's a bit salty but really tasty. I recent tried it's four choices plate lunch, I love that the wait is fairly short and the food is hot and tasty. The chow fun is soft, green beans and egg fuyoung were tasty and not too oily, and the stuffed tofu was a treat that I've hardly found at these types of make your own plate Chinese places. The eggplant was a little sweet but I still ate it. I also liked the$1 gau gee and pork hash. The steamed manapua at about $2 each were a little doughy but large. 4 stars for good food consistency. As far as price consistency, not so much lol. And I'm not talking about inflation, unless the price of their roast pork inflated from the walk over to the register from the chopping station. Basically, at the chopping station my pork was weighed, was told it would be $16.25. Even was asked "$16.25 okay?" I looked at the scale to confirm, and was like yup. But when I was rung up at the register, I was charged $17.25 plus tax. Food still tasted good as I remember so whatever, that extra dollar can just be the automatic tip I guess. Well here's my tip for first timers: make sure to check how much you get at the chopping station vs how much you're charged at the register. Unless you don't mind having a tip added for you. I really wanted to like this place. They have some unique dishes on the steam table but I have to give them only 3 stars because the food was just warm and not hot. The string bean chicken was good as well as the stuffed bitter melon. You don't find either very often at a fast food place. The char siu was unique, more stew than bbq but flavor was good albeit a little fatty. Gau Gee was good and their fried rice is for real with char siu mixed in. Kin Sun is located in the Windward City Shopping Center, near Starbucks. It is relatively small, with the food display taking up about half the front space. There are two tables you can eat at inside if you don't do take out. I therefore wouldn't really call it a "Restaurant", it's more like a Panda Express-type of place. I ordered the three combo plate with a salt egg. There are little add ones closer to the register including salt eggs and lup chong. I've never had an actual salt egg before, but have had dishes with salt egg in it. Obviously, they're really salty, but I didn't expect it to be inedible-salty. Not my thing, sorry, and I'm definitely not getting it again. I got sweet and sour pork, an eggplant dish and spareribs with thin noodles. Everything was pretty good, but I probably won't get the sweet and sour pork again, it was a little too fatty for me. You know when you get pieces of pork that are mostly fat, but it's covered in sauce so you can't really tell before you bite into it? That's kinda what happens here. There were a bunch of other options too, and I liked that they had fresh char siu and roast pork to choose from too. You don't get a little fortune cookie with your order, but this is the same concept as panda express. The difference is that it's not a chain restaurant, and there are more authentic options. I recommend the chow mien, the noodles are thinner than normal, and its pretty delicious. I don't recommend the salt egg unless you know what youre getting into. :) Parking is plentiful, but outside seating is not, so you either have to eat at one of the small tables inside or take out. read more
