Everything tasted good and the gentleman really packed the plate full! The eggplant and tofu had a slightly sweet taste but it was ok. I like that there wasn't any uncooked eggplant in the mix. Yuck. Ordered a 1/2 noodle, 1/2 fried rice 2 entree plate. Noodles were hard, dry and tasteless. Fried (not) rice was lumpy and dry with no flavor. "Beef" and broccoli had only 2 pieces of meat-one was gristle and chewy and wouldn't break down. (Not beef!) BBQ chicken was burnt -didn't taste like barbecue, tasted like charcoal. I wasn't planning on eating here, but the line was long. When people wait in line the food must be good, so I tried it out. I got the two entree combo with half Singapore noodles and half chow fun $12.25. My two entrees were sweet & sour spareribs and cold ginger onion chicken. They gave so much food that my plate was overflowing. It was around 7pm and I noticed that the sweet & sour spareribs were almost out. However, I saw them bringing out other entrees. I asked if they were going to make more spareribs. The cashier told me 10 minutes, so I waited. I'm so happy I did. The food was so good, especially at a food court. The Singapore noodles had a strong curry flavor and the chow fun had the perfect chew to it. The sweet & sour spareribs were perfect. It wasn't too sweet and it wasn't too sour, just right down the middle. The ginger onion sauce was chefs kiss. I just wish they gave me two containers as one wasn't enough for all that chicken. Everyone here knows their plates are worth the money, tastes great and they give a lot of food but who knew their take out trays are great for parties? I ordered a small tray of chow funn for $35.95 and I was only expecting it to look like the chow funn they display for the choice plates but this was even better, it was loaded with char siu! The tray was literally 10 pounds of goodness and a generous portion. This is my new catering place when I need a pot luck dish. This is my favorite Chinese place in Kaneohe. Whenever I come to the food court in Windward Mall, I'm always drawn to Chinatown Express. The food is quick and plentiful. I always feel I get my money's worth. There can be a line at times, but they work quick so you never have to wait long. The menu is easy to follow and I love that they sell dimsum throughout the day. You can also order them individually if you're want just one. But it is subject to availability. They can sell out quick. My go-to order is the Singapore noodles with bittermelon beef. Located in Pa'ina Ko'olau Food Court of Windward Mall there Chinatown Express and yes the authenticity may be a slight askew the variety they offer here in a food court setting is quite impressive in my opinion like fish of the day (flounder today), Shanghai Noodles, Cold Ginger Chicken, Bitter Melon with Beef just to name a few. The gentleman that helped me was quiet but very polite and though I was hungry I had a feeling that I should've ordered a one choice plate though did two at $11.75 as everything just looked so yummy and is a great deal. Gosh what a plate...insanely generous portion and that alone wasn't the five stars it was the food, I absolutely loved that it wasn't salty and seasoned just right and yes I was hungry but there's no way I could come close to finishing the entire plate. We had just finished eating a late Hawaiian lunch at the Windward mall food court & I wanted to get some dim sum to bring home. It was a very busy Saturday at the mall on 7/13/24, as the parking lot was pretty fully. Chinatown Express is located in the food court area near the restrooms. They sell a few popular dim sum items & plate lunches. The layout is similar to the old Patti's Kitchen from back in the day. There is a good assortment of entrees & sides to choose from & you can get anywhere from 1 to 4 entrees. Prices ranged from $9.25 - $14.95 for the plates. They also have different congee, char siu, roast duck, or shoyu chicken by the lb, & you can get items a la carte. For dim sum, they have a small menu - manapua, lup cheong, pork hash, half moon, Jung, jin dui, & rice cake. I ordered 2 pork hash & 2 half moon. Each were a $1.50. I thought the prices were reasonable & they weren't skimpy. The pork hash was a decent size, not small like some places & very tasty. The half moon was pretty big. It measured 3" across & was pretty chunky. The dumpling part of the half moon had an interesting texture, not smooth like most half moon's I've had & dough not very thick. The filling had an interesting taste to it. It was filled with the usual finely chopped ingredients but it had a seasoning in it I could not place nor have had in others I've tasted. It was still good & just those pieces of dim sum filled me. The food in the heating pans looked like it was sitting for hours. Considering it was after 4:30PM, there was no line, only a couple of customers, & the pans were piled high. I'm not sure if I would eat their plates any time soon. The young girl that waited on me was nice & friendly, delivered good customer service. Overall, their menu prices are reasonable & friendly staff. It's not the best dim sum I've had but it's also not the worst. If you want a quick fix to satisfy your dim sum craving & can't get to Chinatown, this place would be ok. read more

I got half fried rice and lo mein noodles with mushroom chicken and beef broccoli. My daughter enjoyed the noodles and the beef. The fried rice tasted like curry seasoning. The food was descent and okay and for the price they give you a lot in the container. Located inside the food court at Windward mall. Prices are pretty affordable compared to other food joints nearby. Tables are inside the food court. Plenty of seating during the week day. I definitely will come back here to eat when we are here. Last night I had orange chicken and roast pork here with pink rice (first time I've seen that). Started eating in my car. Top layer... Ono (good). Right on! Then started tasting like sweat, spit and underarm. I'm 230 lbs and can count on 2 fingers how many plate lunches I've thrown away in my 61 years. This was one. Long story short (TMI warning): I'm writing this while sitting on the toilet waiting for the next round of explosions. I got half char siu fried rice half Singapore noodles my plate was over flowing I kid you not, my entree choices were Minute Chicken, Bitter melon beef and Roast pork (1.50 more) the price came out to 13-14 bucks honestly not that bad imo also for that amount of food it was a bargain. I get home and crack open the plate and I gotta say the noodles were delicious the fried rice was really good (better then pandas by a mile) but the Bitter Melon Beef I would do bad things for more of that I am definitely a bitter melon fan. The minute chicken was good and the roast pork was also tasty and crispy. I have to say I did not finish the plate in fact I was able to eat it for dinner the next night and seriously that one plate made a nice portion size for two nights of dinner.. I will definitely go back if anything just for the Beef and also I know their manapuas are bomb because my friends daughter wanted another one and she's a very picky eater. read more

Located in Windward mall food court they have a lot of different restaurants to choose from. They have pizza, Korean, Pho, Japanese besides burgers and other sandwiches. They have seating areas in the food court and around the food court area also upstairs on the 2nd floor. I tried the chow fun which was good so you pick a noodle or rice dish and you can pick from a single item or 2 items or 3 items which will change the prices and size of container your food goes in. My next pick was the minute chicken which was very tasty and tender. The 2 item was the Kau yuk which was very bland with no taste it was more like eating pork soaked in to red food coloring only and was not flavorful and dry for an items sitting in a sauce. Later I notice the worker taking pork from another pork dish and adding it into the Kau yuk pan? While in the mall you need to wear a mask unless you are eating, they also have a lot of hand sanitizer station around the mall. read more

Quick pick Chinese fast food. While it's not a full menu restaurant since they are inside the mall, they are still good for what they have. It's better than panda imo for more local style items. I usually always get the bittermelon when I come here. So that's why I prefer here lol. You can mix your starch plain white rice fried rice singapore noodle chow mein chow fun etc. For a 1 choice lighter eater its good size portion. What happened to this place. Service used to be so much better. Food used to be so much better. Prices were reasonable. New owners??? Went to get some manapua. Waiting in line.....nex??... no smile, no can I help the next person, no hello. Gave my order, two separate. Guy gave that "make more work for me" look. After he finished, he just put the next to the check out. Didn't ask if I wanted something else. He was rude to the lady in front of me too. I paid and no "thank you". Met my sister at Windward Mall today and I decided to get a late lunch early dinner? Walked to the food court and of course decision time. There was Japanese, Italian, Phillippino, Korean, Hot dog on a stick, Subway, just to name a few. I picked Chinese right next door to Maruki Tei called Chinatown Express . Everything looks good in the serving line but the taste was bland. I ordered their char Siu and Chow Mein. Unfortunately the Chow Mein was dry and no taste. The Char Siu was hard and lots of fat hardly pork. But of course it's average Chinese food and if you want convenience that's the place. Customer service was great . Usually when I'm in the Winward mall food court I am in the mood for Blazin Steaks, but today I was in the mood for noodles I'm so glad I stopped by Chinatown Express. This may be my new favorite go to food spot in the mall now. Like I said I was in a noodles mood, so I am only ordered the Singapore style noodles and the chow fun noodles. Both amazing and perfectly cooked. The flavor of the Singapore noodles are perfect, they are so light yet so flavorful with just a hint of curry. Normally when you think of noodles you think of a heavier meal but that's what I love about Singapore style noodles - they are so light. The chow fun noodles also tasty. I think both of them qualify as vegetarian. I didn't see any meat, just onions, carrots and cabbage in the Singapore style noodles and cabbage and onions in the chow fun noodles. My other favorite part is really big side portions. I just got two huge sides of noodles for $10.50. It's enough to share or have leftovers! (Yay). read more

This place was fun to go and get so many goodies. For one thing they have the softest orange chicken with real pieces of chicken. Their food as a whole is really tasty. They have the fattest shu mai in town and their portions are amazing for your money. You really get a sense of bang for your buck and I appreciate that. Unfortunately they are so far away from me (yes, I'm a townie) that it took me this long to come here and try them. I have to say the food is on the sweeter side but the taste is there. The char siu was nice and meaty and not full of fat like they I get it often in town. I also got myself a gin dui and it was flavorful and fat and good. I ordered orange chicken, fried rice, chow mein, chow fun, siu mai, gin dui, eggplant and tofu (wish it were spicy), and char siu. I took a bite of each and wasn't disappointed.
