They have been at their Kamehameha Highway location for 43 years...must be doing something right. Decor looks straight from the 80's too...dated but nice..."Back to the Future." When I visit a Chinese restaurant I often will get something on special or a duck entrée. Requested Roast Duck with Hoisin sauce for takeaway; I received it in the 10 minutes I was told. It was excellent and a decent portion for $18. Hours are 1000a till 830p daily, except on Mondays - when they are closed. Lots of parking stalls in front...a beauty salon is in the adjacent unit. Service: It was Christmas Day lunch so Kin Wah had tons of take out orders. But they were still friendly and helpful the entire time we were there. The servers here smile and are friendly. We did have a pre-order issue, though. Since I arrived early to make sure everything was set, it was an easy recovery but still disappointing. One pre-order dish was egg fu yong. While the server was reviewing the order with me, she said they didn't have it that day. I told her I wasn't notified when I pre-ordered like I was told "no steamed fish" but I just increased the quantities for the other items and it was seamless for the rest of the guests. She did say but I ordered early enough to get my Peking duck. (If we didn't get that I would have them been pretty annoyed.) Food: Not quite as good as last Christmas but still good. Minute chicken cake noodle - chicken was a bit dry and a little tough. Noodles, gravy, Choi sum was good. Soft gau gee mein (family loves our noodles) was better - very tasty, but the gravy was overflowing and spilling all over. Peking duck - half duck, with buns. Came with the customary plum (hoisin) sauce but no green onions/scallions. Not the same without it but was good. Duck skin was crispy, duck meat wasn't dry. Shrimp chips were stale, though. Walnut shrimp was good. Shrimp was slightly overcooked but not enough to matter. Beef broccoli was very good, but not sure they gave us two orders, seemed small compared to the other dishes which we had upped from 1-1/2 to 2. Overall, it's challenging to get good Chinese food now days so we were all satisfied with the food, good service, and the ease of having the dishes come out timely. Hopefully the next time the food will have gone back up in quality and I can give 4 stars. read more

Delish! We live on the East Side of Oahu, don't travel much to the Windward side. We decided to try Kin Wah Chop Suey after passing it several times while driving thru Kaneohe. First time here and it was a great experience. We were seated very quickly. We ordered the crispy chicken and the black bean beef chow fun, and both were excellent. The food reminded me of going to the Chinese restaurants back in the day with my parents when I was a child--comforting and nostalgic in the best way. I think it's time for an update, as it's been awhile since I last dined at Kin Wah Chop Suey.. So my dad had some friends visiting from out of town, so one evening I decided to take them out to the Windward side for some old school Chinese comfort food. The menu here is pretty extensive, but to make it easy on ourselves, we decided to pick a fixed dinner menu for 4 people, then I just added two extra dishes with our fixed meal. I called a take out order on a Sunday at lunchtime they said it would be about 15 to 20 minutes. We got there in 10 minutes and the food was just coming out. We took everything home back to Honolulu to eat. My favorite dish is their Chinese chicken salad because it is the red peanut dressing that makes it so unique to other Chinese chicken salads on the island. I'm not a fan of the chicken because it comes chopped up with skin on, but I'm able to pick out most of the skin pieces. The minute chicken cake noodles are always delicious with the fried chow mein noodles. We had a lot of other stuff, but those are the two main dishes that I like to eat. I will sometimes dry the butter melon with pork, but for the most part that is reserved for my husband and my father. If you plan to stay and eat, make sure you bring a smaller size vehicle because the parking lot is very small and limited unless you want to park out on the street. read more

Decided to come here while we wait for our girl finish prom. We walked in at 730 (they close at 830) it was SUPER BUSY, but we were seated within 5 mins on the very last open table in the whole restaurant. They took our order immediately and our food came out so quick and tasted so fresh. We brought my sister and BIL as they never tried this place out and we like their food. Really there wasnt anything wrong with any of our food we ordered and everyone in our group enjoyed it. This is my good to place for Chinese when I'm at Kaneohe. The parking is tight when it's busy. My favorites is Chinese chicken salad, eggplants with pork, bird nest soup and the black beans with clams. Service is great. It's a mom and pop restaurant. I've been coming here since I was a kid and I'm never disappointed. Food is always hot, even when we get take out. My favorite is their eggplant with pork, and their squid with black bean sauce on cake noodle. Take out is always pretty quick if you call ahead, and always so happy that the take out food is very hot when I receive it. The staff are all the same & very kind. The only thing I didn't like was the lemon chicken - as the chicken was a little dry and tough. However, there was so much other food, I was so full from all the other things. This restaurant has been her for many decades and was the place to go to eat Chinese food for my in-laws and their family. Now that the children are all adults with their own family, they still go here on weekends when no one wants to cook for dinner. The food is ready when we order take out and it tastes even better when dining in. Their service is fast and friendly and like any typical Chinese restaurant, their place is clean, their tables can seat a couple to a large group. I am so stoked to hear Kin Wah was open for dine in!!! I have been coming here with my family since I was a kid. Not much has changed except the shrimp canton which was overcooked and rubbery. Good food, good times. Had a birthday dinner with some friends. We had a party of 13 so i called in day of to make a reservation. They said they could accommodate us at our desired time. When we arrived we chatted for a bit waiting on more of the guest to arrive. We planned out what we wanted to eat and what we wanted to order. We ordered family style, there's no other way to eat at a Chinese restaurant. Some of the favorites were the steamed fish, spicy ginger wontons, crispy gau gee, chicken salad and much more. We heard Kin Wah is a good Chinese restaurant and since we were on this side of the island we stopped by. First of all its not easy to find. And when you do find it. The parking lot is shared with other businesses around the area. No help when the parking lot is small to begin with. That being said, we entered the restaurant and it was packed. Luckily people left the same time we entered. So we just waited them to prep our table. The hostess was very nice and took us to our table. Gave us our menu's. As i looked at the prices, it was very reasonable. We ordered and our food came sporadically which kinda irritated us. But honestly the food was really good and tasty. We enjoyed it tremendously. This morning, Wednesday, December 10, 2025, we ordered take-out Wor Gau Gee Mein soups with noodles for our three grandchildren suffering from the flu. Got home and prepared the soup and noodles for the sick kids, and no soup; the noodles had absorbed all the broth. Very disappointed, not the first time we experienced the food quality is not what we have expected based on years of customer experience. Called to express my disappointment, but the female clerk began to blame me, stating "We never separate, you have to request, never have we separated." Did not expect that response, as we have ordered and received separate containers with broth and noodles always, this is the first time ever they were combined! My buddy and I Played a round of golf up at Pali GC. We couldn't decide on what to eat. Stopped at the gas station and decided to drop in. Haven't been here since the 90's...so glad my friend and i decided to stop in. We got seated right away. We just missed the rush hour I guess. Service was very quick and friendly. We didn't wait long either for our food. We decided to go with the lunch special. $13.50 I think it was for a combination plate of Char siu and crispy chicken. We also had an order of Gau Gee. FYI: As of July 10, 2023, Kin Wah is closed on Mondays. I put in a request to update but the hours listed on Yelp are incorrect. I learned some cool things about Kin Wah today. They opened in May of 1982, so they are celebrating 41 years of serving up food in Kaneohe! They are both Dine-in and Take-out. If you Dine-in, it is BYOB. They are currently short-staffed (like everyone else), so they are not doing private parties. They strongly recommend you make a reservation if you are going to dine in cos they fill up fast. Did you know that workers go in early to hand stuff and fold won ton and gau gee every day? They fold 1,050 crispy gau gee a day (I didn't get numbers on the other items). On special days like Mother's Day, they fold 3,000! Wow! After they finish folding, they immediately start prepping boxes that can be used for take out. Old school kine level of service!
