Worst Thai dish ever. . . but the sushi...oh wait. That wasn't good either. The "Zucchini Paht Thai" was drenched in what looked like dirty dish water. The pork was dry and tough (old?)...even the flavorless fat bits., the green onion was a lifeless drab green and it just wasn't as appealing or as tasty as what I am accustomed to. Everything just seemed overcooked or old. The Sushi wasn't too different. I ordered a Chirashi Don with "24 pieces" I guess you can creatively cut two micro sized flat, dry, shrimp to make "4 pieces" , but c'mon. All of the pieces were oddly shaped (mangled) cuts of varied sizes and seemed like pretty cheap cuts of fish overall. the Thai Tea was the only "ok" thing I got for the $48 and change I spent, but even that was a little weak and too sweet for my tatse. If you like GOOD sushi or Thai food, I would NOT recommend this place. It was close by and I'd ordered there before and I wasn't expecting much based on my last experience, but this was the worst and enough to ensure I never go back. I stumbled across this place after the Thai restaurant I originally intended to visit ended up being closed for the day. I was disappointed with their pad thai to say the least. This was my first visit here. Some friend of mine go regularly and the invited me to join them on a Friday night. Inside the shopping strip mall, behind Chase bank, you will find Kin Thai. In all honesty, it was a bit confusing to find the restaurant, but you just have to enter the right parking lot. From the moment you walk in, you are loudly (in a good way) greeted by the waitstaff. Very friendly and ready to serve you. I tend to go during off peak lunch hours, but there are a few times I went during lunch and it can get busy. Be careful on the spice level, it varies from each item. I usually order the papaya salad, but I made the mistake of ordering the highest heat level. I'm normally good at spice, but the salad kicked my butt! But at the time, the highest heat level on the pad thai wasn't spicy at all. I love coming here, but with as much as I eat, it will add up! So many things. When I first walked in I could smell fish. Not good. The service was like a Denny's. Rush in and out. And I did not have a consistent waiter/waitress. I got a menu that was grimy and sticky. I was given a dirty spoon and fork but no chop sticks. I ordered sashimi and nigirl from waitress A. I told her I'll start with this. I had to ask for chopsticks from a different lady. A different guy delivered my food. However, he left so fast and I then noticed I did not have soy sauce or the dipping bowl. I sat there trying to make eye contact. After five minutes I was able to flag down someone. The salmon was a low grade, thin and falling apart. The spring rolls were more like lettuce rolls. I finished my sake and wanted another one, but no service check ins at my table. Ok. So I finished my dinner. The staff was busy prepping for the next day by taking out the silverware from the silverware basket and rolling them in napkins. I was ASTONISHED at the LACK OF HYGIENE! My waitress was pulling out spoons and forks from the dishwasher bucket then holding the utensils by the parts we put on our food and in the mouth!! Moments before I saw the lady who was rolling, grab three glasses off the table beside me, by placing her fingers on the inside of the glasses. I highly doubt they all went to the kitchen and thoroughly washed their hands before handling clean utensils. So I wait and wait. Waitress B comes to my table to clear it, asking me if I wanted anything else. I told her I wanted a sake a while back but no one came over. Too late now. After reading so many good reviews I arrived on a Thursday at 5pm at opening time. I was not disappointed. They have a modest and smallish dining room in a typical concrete strip center. The harshness of the space is reduced by Orient inspired embellishments like plastic bamboo and Thai Buddah heads. We were the third and fourth guests and within 30 minutes there were eight tables with two guests each and one family of three. A total of 19 plus at least five customers who arrived for to go orders. In other words, they clearly have a loyal following qnd after eating here I see it is well deserverd. We had the Cashew beef, Thai spring rolls, pork fried Thai rice, and a caterpillar roll. Everything was good, meat was lean and veggies and rice fresh.
