Appt made with Kenetico 2 weeks in advance. Told service visit would be between 1p and 5p. Said I could video the process so I could do it in the future. No show at 4:40 so I called. Found out tech would be here around 5:30. He arrived. Didn't give me time to video. When I asked if filter was ok to use, he didn't look at it, just said, 'we will see' installed it and out the door he went. Terrible experience. read more

First off, the Kinetico product (at least ours) is fantastic. Ours will turn 20 soon. It's still providing great water for the whole house. We have done some maintenance over the years but the basic system is from 2004. My issue is with the service department at the local office. They sent us a mailing offering a free system inspection. Although ours has been working great, why not? Of course I would expect them to try to sell us something newer but I'm pretty good at resisting that kind of stuff. The first issue is they could not pin down an appointment to any window smaller than an entire day. I had to find a day when I knew either my wife or I would be home at all times. They promised a call between 8:30 and 9:30 the morning of the appointment to give us a 2-hour window. We had to book the initial date for more than a month out because of the "home all day" requirement. We booked for Oct 1st. As the date got closer, I had to book something else for the early morning on Oct 1st. The day before I called to see if they could give me a window later in the morning or the afternoon. They could not so we rescheduled. Magically they were able to push back just 1 day to Oct 2nd. I was promised the same 8:30 - 9:30 call. Having not received the call by 10:30 AM, I called Kinetico. After being passed around to several folks, I reached someone who said they've had a lot of emergencies lately and they need to rebook some of the non-essential service calls. Totally understandable but where is the call to tell me that? And how did all these "emergencies" materialize in the last 36 hours? The staff seems to have no concept what people need to do to clear a day on their schedule or keep a COMPLETELY open for them. read more

Kinetico installed a water softener and reverse os mosis system approx 6 months ago. RO has been making a lot of noise since it was installed. We can hear the noise through our whole house. I have left 4 messages, spoken with someone at Kinetico 2 times. In all instances I was told someone would call me back to discuss and resolve e the issue. No one has called me back. I am concerned that I would receive the same poor customer service if I need assistance with the water softener. I have a video of the RO system making the "thumping" sound if anyone would like to listen. Of course the file is to large to upload. read more

Got charged $180 for a service call. Two technicians showed up and declared our systems to be beyond repair. Their records showed no maintenance since installation 20 years ago. They spent very little time looking at the unit and did not open it up or conduct any checks. They did provide a quote for $5K to replace the system and a whole house filter. If you are going to scrap it based solely on service records, why charge for a service call to do so? I got a $150 seal kit from eBay and $300 for new resin materials and system is working fine now. I needed to have my water softener reconnected due to water damage. I've had many service technicians, and contractors in and out of my home over the past several months; but none as rude as yours. I was reading the text they were on the way, at the same time the Ring doorbell notified me someone was at my door. I said GM can you give me a few minutes. The technician rudely asked, 2 to 3 minutes or 10 minutes? I replied 2-3 minutes. I answered the door within 2-3 minutes and said GM. One greeted me GM how are you today, I said fine. The other technician said nothing! One asked if there was another main water shutoff in the house, I said no, and told them where the main water shutoff was located. They proceeded to shut the water off without explaining what they needed to do. A conversation and a warning would've been helpfu! I asked if they were shutting the water off and one said, yes, that's why we asked! I stated, I'm not a mind reader and it would've been nice if you told me beforehand. One of them had the nerve to say, we are trying to help you ma'am! I replied, not with that attitude, you guys came in with an attitude! He stated, I'm sorry if you felt that way. What has happened to good customer service? For a $300 reconnection fee I expect better service, and friendly, not rude technicians. They should have all of the parts needed to connect/reconnect their water softener...not ask me for parts. Unsatisfied customer! Absolute worst experience we could have ever imagined from a local company. They did the install about 2 years ago. Everything was great until it wasn't. Our basement was flooded due to poor installation. Long story short they only took care of correcting the install but we were left with ruined carpets, molded drywall and stained and swollen doors. My wife and have been trying to contact them for almost 2 years now and they refuse to take care of any of the problems they caused. They do not respond to voicemails or emails. Nothing short of taking them to court will get a reply. It's honestly been a nightmare for us and the customer service has been horrific. The product is good but there are sooo many other choices we would choose someone else 100% if we had to do it all over again. Btw, our repairs were super cheap, just a few hundred bucks. We just wanted what would have made our lovely finished basement to be what it used to be instead of this 2 year limbo nightmare. read more

I was referred to Kinetico by a family member. The $6,200 system arrived and was installed within one business day. Since that time, I have had two warranty repairs (within 90 days). It was nearly impossible to obtain warranty service. The person referring me to Kinetico never received their Golden Ticket referral as advertised. The South Indianapolis office closes at 5 and is not open on weekends. I work until 5 and am unable to secure additional salt. They wanted $75 to deliver me salt. A very poor product and customer service experience. I sadly do not recommend as service after the sale is mostly nonexistent. read more

My husband got an appointment for our reverse osmosis to be hooked up in our new home. The appointment was made and the address was given for installation (at our NEW address). The installer called to let my husband know he was 1/2 hour away. When he didn't show or call, my husband tried to call him twice with no answer. My husband finally called the office to find out what happened and was told he went to our old address and since we weren't there he went to another job. Why wouldn't he call my husband on the phone? Really!!!! He obviously had the number. My husband was told he would have to reschedule after he waited all afternoon for them. What terrible customer service from this north side Kinetico. We were pleased with the guy who sold us our system; however the 2 times I have needed to contact them post sale they have been terrible to deal with. Their customer service is missing the Mark. I had them put a $7000 commercial grade system in my brand new home 3 years ago. Just over a year later it leaked and caused $1000 damage in my basement. I asked if they would pay for the repairs. No. I asked if they would honor the 10 year warranty we have on the system. "It's been over a year and it was a leak not a malfunction so it's not covered by warranty". A month ago I scheduled a service on the system. It was booked for today. Last night I received a phone call that they would NOT service my system. They are a corporate sponsor of the Pacers. I'm a former Pacer. If they treat me this way I wonder how they treat customers who aren't friends with one of their spokespersons, Chris Denari. I wonder if they treat people who DONT spend $7000 on their system better than me. Also, my wife and I are realtors and will obviously not recommend this company to any of our clients. I've purchased and used probably 4 different water softener systems in the past 40 years in Chicago and Indianapolis. Kinetico is by far the best in terms of performance and ease of use. We just replaced a Kinetico system installed in about 2008 with another Kinetico. I love the fact that the softener has 2 resin tanks so it never sends hard water into our water heater or cold water pipes. No electric required to operate. No timer to set or adjust. It just works. I only remember 1 service call, and I can't say anything negative. They just came out and resolved the problem. Our drinking water system is still going strong after 15 years. They recently replaced a valve on that system which had a very slow leak, for about $150, but otherwise I just replace filters as needed. read more

These are the worst people to deal with and once you own one of their systems they treat you like crap, they could care less that you are a customer. Needed a cheap, easy to replace part that had broken on my system. Could have done it myself in a few minutes but their response is "we do not sell parts for our products". So instead of a part that would cost a few dollars they want to send a technician to replace it at a cost of $100+. Multiple issues. My system did not make it 5 years without needing a part replaced. Still charged a fee regardless of warranty. He looked at it for 20 seconds and told me I need a part replaced- did not have it on his truck, told Me he would be back first thing in the AM to replace it. I did not hear from him, so I called them after a few days and was scheduled a week out. That day I was canceled again because of a broken tooth . Strike two. Was told he would be out first thing in the morning the following day, did not show. I called them and was told he has other appointments ahead of me. They charge $1000 to swap resin out and others charge around $300-$400. Save your money. There are other water softener systems that are reliable and less expensive. read more

Had a service person come over to change my drinking water filter. Told wife to tell me price well she forgot and he changed them $197 for a few loosened screws and two filters. I will never call those crooks again, and when my systems need to be replaced both softeners and drinking I will look elsewhere. We have had 3 Kinetico systems installed in 4 different homes since 1997 and have had no problems with any of them. In fact, the first system we had installed they moved to another home for us 3 years later at a very reasonable cost (3 systems - 4 home installs). The sales rep started out a little hard sell, as soon as we let him know that didn't work for us, he toned it down and gave us the best deal he could. We've always gone there to purchase our salt and filters and have had nothing but great customer service. read more

I left to go to the hardware store, came back and they had arrived while I was gone. They called the wrong number to let me know they were on their way. If I could give "0" stars, I would. These folks sold me a multi-thousand dollar system some years ago, and assured me that it would "last a lifetime". First, it did not work as well as it should have to begin with, and then when it did not work, they sold me more stuff (chlorine pellet dropper with chlorine tank inside to take it out) which also did not work long term. This last week it stopped running altogether and then they made me wait to have them look at the system, because only they can look at it. They made my family wait all afternoon because they said they would be here between 1-5pm. They did not show up. At 5pm I called, and they were closed already. The next morning I called, and later in the day they said that the team who had come out had come to the wrong house. After all of this, when they finally go to my house, they made me pay them another $139 just to tell me that everything I had been sold was just junk, and tried to sell me on another multi thousand dollar system! They had sent direct to me a "get your system checked for $1 coupon" in the mail, and when I presented that to them, they said "that does not apply here, you still have to pay the $139 because that is only for sales! All of that to tell me what they sold me is junk now! I was previously told by their office when I first called that they had records of what I had purchased and that the "media" could be changed in my system - but when they came out, they said that the person who spoke with me from the office was incorrect and that my media could not be changed. I reminded them that I had been informed that the system was supposed to last "a lifetime", and they responded (they actually said this to me), "back when you got your system, we had some people who did not tell the customers correct information"!!!!!!!!! Now, after all of this, you would think that they would offer some sort of alternative - like giving me a discount or working to get me a used system which would be longer lasting - but no - the only option was to start over from scratch and spend many thousands of dollars more. My anger is only diminished by the shame I feel at letting these weasels take advantage of me like this. I recommend that nobody get Kinetico systems. I recommend that anyone considering Kinetico systems simply go to another alternative - there are many around. Any of the alternative companies will be better and more truthful in the long run. Do not be fooled by the line that if it is more expensive, it must be the best. Hogwash. I am the prime example of how Kinetico does not take care of their customers. Love the system, but the customer service is appalling and lazy! Have had my system since they were on Pendleton Pike location. Have a well so needed an extensive system. They would send cards when it was time for a new filter, I have not gotten cards, notification email, text, nothing. The water you drinks shuts off if your filter needs changing......................so now I have to call then say I need a new filter. Here is the rub..........they start asking you what the problem is then asking what type of filter you have never, just get your address and LOOK it up, GO GET THE FILTER and let up go ion your way...........What happen to the customer service? When I called and after they went through all the questions, I told the man PLease look it up, for some reason he simply did not want to trouble himself and kept talking over me. He did not go over my information, just said I needed one 10 inch filter, I asked what about the other filter I always get 2, told me no I only needed one, WRONG. When I questioned him again about other aspects of my filtering system he could not answer and would not talk. Later that day we went to get the filters the person behind the desk again asked what kind of system we have we told her to look it up.......................wwowwowowo They HATE that, finally she got someone from the back room to come assist her, He had problems also, they both disappeared for 7 minutes then came back with one filter, we asked about the other and another 10 minutes they looks and AH there it is.....................Asked them why they did not sent the cards as they usually do with what filters are due for a change.....................she did not know. We were very pleased with the Kinetico RO system and water softener in our previous home. My husband stopped off here to see about getting the same for our new home and he couldn't get even a ball park estimate for our home on any of their products. He was told they had to come to our home (you know....for the hard-sell, I am sure). We feel very differently about Kinetico all these years later, and will look elsewhere for a comparable product with sales people we trust. read more

I have had nothing but trouble for years with my kinetico system. Tried to work with the company but no help. I had a kinetico without problems prior to this one. Had someone work on my spigot and the next day my water was orange. Kinetico came out said I needed a whole new system. When replaced, my basement flooded from wall to wall. Called technician and was told he would come back "tomorrow". Called the manager and he came back that night to a basement full of water. Fixed that problem, next day...Orange water. Kinetico came back, said I needed a "bigger" system. Did that- still orange water! Technician came back, I again explained the replaced spigot, technician turned the shut off valve and water was fine! Hence, never needed a new system, just needed to turn back valve the guy who worked on spigot shut off and never turned back on. OK, so now I paid for a new system for no reason, it is what it is. Unfortunately, this system has burnt out 4 sump pumps and flooded my basement several times over the years. Now venting out my basement window, which I have to leave open year around for this. Also have had animals in basement, including snakes, due to this. $150 each time they are to come out and I could not afford this! Did go into the office in Avon which is no longer there and complain. Of course, no complaints show on my file according to corporate. Had Technician out in the spring. Was told I would have to run it through my septic and he would be back to do that and I could pay the fee then. I have not heard back from technician, but collection department has called me twice to pay the fee. Since then, I have spoken with 2 septic company owners and several plumbers who say "DO NOT run it throught the septic!" If it burned out sump pumps, what would you think it would do to the septic! Called and sent complaint letters to Kinectico about all of this. Was told there was no notes that stated I did not need the system in the first place and I should just call a plumber and dig a new drain. She was quite the smart ass! It is obvious I did not need a new system when all three units did the exact same thing until Ryan turned back the shut off valve. He even remembered doing it when I went into Kinectico to set up appt for the technician to come out! The corporate office also said I was sending my complaints to the wrong place and they would forward. So now, I am 7 years into this saga. I asked if they would just buy it back and was told no. This system was not cheap and I cannot afford to replace. My basement floor is also now covered with rust color due to the overflow when sump pumps burned out. My grass and bushes are dead due to venting out the window and the salt killing them. And now, it is killing my neighbors grass, as well. Thanks for nothing Kinectico!!! read more

I had Kinetico on Corporation Drive, Indianapolis replace an older Kinetico water softener system with an updated one. Within 7 months after installing the new system the water shutoff valve split apart while I was out of town. The result was a flooded downstairs family room and workshop area of the home which resulted in over $18,000 in damages, including my $1,000 deductible. It's been over 16 months and Kinetico has refused to at least pay me my out of pocket loss of $1,000. First their CEO Toby Thomas offered to give me a credit of $1,000 for in store purchases! No way, as our salt consumption is not much annually, and it would take over 20 years to recover my loss! Then they offered to pay me the $1,000 deductible, but wanted me to sign a full release for the entire loss of $18,000! This included Kinetico, and anyone else they did business, including the supplier of the valve installed Kinetico. This is unacceptable. Beware, they are smooth talkers but in time of need ignore you. CEO Thomas used the excuse of not addressing my letter for over a month as the result of the Corona virus! Then he passed my complaint letter to one of his field reps, who in turn gave it back to the local store manager, Karen, who was not authorized to make a decision. I did nothing wrong other than purchase an expensive water softener system from Kinetico. I would never, ever, recommend anyone purchase a product from them. No liability on my part, but they refuse to pay for the damages, or at the least reimburse me my $1,000. deductible! read more

Took advantaged of my clearly disabled father. My father has advanced Parkinsons disease, and often struggle to put full sentences together. Talking to him on the phone is extremely difficult; he is nearly incoherent over the phone. And yet somehow Kinetico managed to call him, arrange to come to the house, spend 15 minutes changing a filter, and leave a bill for $130. My father has caregivers, Kinetico is not one of them. read more

No longer will sell parts to end users. Instead, they now force you to pay for a $140 service call for a couple of dollars worth of parts. I wound up finding a different dealer that still sells parts and driving 90 miles to pick them up. Even with the price of gas it was significantly less than what the service call from this dealer would have been. If I'd know 8 years ago that the dealer would force you to have service calls instead of performing my own maintenance I would not have purchased a Kinetico system. Since I'm on well water with a high iron content I need service about once a year so being able to perform my own maintenance is very important to me. read more

I'm familiar with the name Kinetico being sponsors of the Pacers and Colts, so I gave them a call to learn more about their products since my recently purchased home didn't have a water softener. The sales rep Mark came to the home, did a free water test, and gave a very knowledgeable, non-intimidating sales pitch on the different softeners, the pro's/con's of hard v soft water, prices, etc. He didn't push the top tier (most expensive) products on me which was nice, nor did he pressure me to make a purchase that day. I shopped around for a few weeks after and ended up going with Kinetico's essential platinum series softener because their value was the best. Rodney and Luke installed the product yesterday and were done in an hour half without any issues. They gave me a "Water Softener 101" discussion too once they were done. Overall I was very impressed with the experience and would highly recommend Kinetico to those who need a softener installed. read more

I had a sales rep come to my house to discuss the different options. He was nice in the beginning and assured me that the installer would have no problem drilling a hole through the wall to connect to the water system. The sales rep had to meet me on a different date so I could sign the agreement (which he forgot when he met me) and give him my credit card information. I expressed much concern about this but he assured me that my card would absolutely not be processed until after the installation. A few days later the installer came and said he could not do it and that we would have to shut off the entire water supply in the condo building for this to work. He left without installing. My card was obviously charged. I expressed my concerned to the sales rep and he told me "not to worry". The installer showed up a 7 days later (I had to take off work to accommodate him). I went through the hassle of HOA to get the water turned off. The next installer told me that didn't need to be done (huge waste of time). The installer drilled a hole through our wall to the outside hallway. Laughed hysterically at it. Asked my boyfriend to fix it and left. My boyfriend realized he didn't have the materials to fix it so I kindly asked the sales rep if Kinetico can please come back and fix it. The installer showed up a week later, ignored me when I said hello, had a horrible attitude, and somehow made it look worse than it already did. He left before I could inspect it. I sent a picture to the sales rep and he agreed that it looked terrible. I asked him to not send back the installer as his attitude was unprofessional, degrading, and childish. The sales rep (after much back and forth) came to fix the hole. It's definitely still not pretty but I couldn't take dealing with them anymore. Would 1000% go with a different company after this experience. read more

I'm struggling to believe all of these reviews about the level of service that Kinetico has to offer. I could not be happier with my service and softener from Kinetico since the day of sale! My salesperson was top notch, and never made me feel pressured to buy, like other softener salesmen were quick to do. Instead, I felt like I received a good education from my salesperson about what my system could and would do for me and my house, and for what to expect as far as payments, installation process, and upkeep. Since having my RO and water softener installed, I have been beyond pleased with the level of service. I am happy to report that when I do find myself in need of salt or new filters, it's almost as simple as a phone call into the office to let them know I'm on my way. read more
