I have been a King Futon customer for many years due to the product quality, reliability. I have a bed frame and cotton mattress I bought in 1999 is still in a good shape. No complaints on the quality of the product. But customer service is bad as I needed that for the first time. We bought a mattress along with the bed cover. I was charged $36.99 for the bed cover. While I was there to pick up the bed cover, I was told that there was a error in the billing and it cost $20 more. They say that all sales are final. Shouldn't that also apply to this case as well. But the owner of the business was not ready to accept it. She wanted to charge $20 more to us. She also said "we are rude and unreasonable". I have had this happened in other stores where they did not charge extra to us as it was their billing error. At the end, it is what you pay for. I have been a king futon customer for a while. I liked the place and ignored the fact that i was screwed persistently, with mediocre and low quality furniture. The only thing i was happy with is the Cal kind bed and frame brought about 5 years ago. The rest of the furniture is bad or going bad. Heres the list: a) A cal king frame: 300$. still good. b) A cal king bed: still good. 300$. Still good. c) Coffee table + end tables: The leg fell apart within a week. Was replaced by Christina, but the other one fell part within a month. I called her up and she sent someone who nailed the leg in. You cannot move the coffee table around on a carpet. Any mild friction or resistence to the legs will break or loosen legs.After the experience with the coffee table, i moved the end tables to a corner to keep basic stuff on. 225$ d) A faux leather couch + love-seat: So very disappointed. I spent close to 700$ on this. It was good for 2 years, after which the leather started peeling. Anyone who sits on the couch gets peeling leather on their dress and a bad smell. 700$ e) A fabric couch: this was to replace the leather couch. It was good for a few months. Now, the spring has fallen apart and the cushions foam have sunk in. I do not think anyone can sit on the couch for more than 30 mins, without getting a back strain. 495$: f) A queen bed frame: Rickety and hasn't quite set in as yet. Almost a year gone. I had to put foam pads between the head frame and the wall, so that it doesn't move around. 300$ g) A queen bed: Doesn't fit into the frame and there is always a huge gap between at the end of the frame. 300$ i think the lady has lost it now. She promised to replace the cushions on the fabric couch for an extra 100$. She said she would call me when she had it cut, but she never called me back. This thanksgiving I went to the place. My intention was to get the cushions and a shoe cabinet. But i ended up ordering more stuff(A dinner table + 4 chairs. 211$, shoe cabinet 92$ and a computer desk 120$). She also said she will give me the replacement cushions. While writing up the receipt, she was interrupted by the delivery person(Sancho or Jose). She had a argument with him and by the time she returned to serve us, she was in a bad mood. I asked her if she _could_ reduce the price. . She said, i was getting the foam for the cushions at a throwaway price(100$) and that itself was a deal.[This is for the fabric couch, which i brought from her]. She then proceeded call me unreasonable and lost her cool and cancelled the deal, saying that she does not want to sell to me. I was left shocked and hanging. My wife and son of 9 years were standing next to me. I didn't know how to react. Her brother stepped in and rewrote the receipt, which I initially accepted, but just when i was about to leave, i changed my mind and cancelled the order and took back my deposit - the damage was done and could be repaired. Needless to say i am not going back. I am a bit sad for her. She lost her mind and one loyal customer on thanksgiving day. I saw another couple leave after seeing how she behaved with us. I found similar furniture on amazon(I couldnt get the same deal on the dinner table and chairs, but got good deals on other stuff) with free shipping which amounts to the same cost but i have to assemble them myself. So, the service is good. I got the bed quickly and as promised and the folks who set it up were nice and efficient. The bad news is that it's not a very good product. I needed a compact sofa, so I chose the one that has 3 parts, with one part pulling out from the rest. I've had one before and the design of this was is flimsy. When extended the bed does not provide a flat surface; some slats create bumps. I chose the low-end mattress, so it could fold over when the bed is in sofa configuration, but the mattress is terrible. It provides essentially no padding from the slats and I needed to buy thick foam to go under it. Was the bed worth $350? Perhaps. But since I needed to spend $200 more to be able to sleep on it, probably not... read more

The best kept secret in furniture. To call this is a hole in the wall is actually an insult to legitimate, god fearing, holes in the wall. To say that this place is dinky is to insult the good name of "dinky". This place is the cheapest looking place on earth. I've seen hovels in the ghettos better looking than this. Well, here's the good news - they pass the savings on to you. It's a warehouse company that literally carved up a part of the warehouse to put in a "showroom". Now, it is an amusing showroom to say the least. Altogether, the "showroom" is less square footage than my townhouse, it's not heated in any way, and it barely shows anything. They literally have the single seater for a sofa in a room, thumb tacked up is a picture literally ripped out of the catalog of the bigger sofa/loveseat/etc. I'm usually weary of small stores operated by a family. They usually are very mean, impatient, and try to rip you off in any way. This place is the exact opposite. The women who runs it is an unbelievable nice women who helped me along (she even suggested I go to IKEA to pick up some stuff she didn't have, instead of trying to lead me to something I didn't want). Her patience and knowledge was excellent. I eventually bought a chest and two nightstands made of solid wood for an unbelievably low price. About half what other stores would have charged for comparable furniture. This place has futons, but also has other furniture. I saw a sofa/loveseat combo for $750 at one place, and that was a good deal. But then I saw it here for $500. I highly recommend checking out this place if you need any furniture. Just go there and check out the prices. Yeah, you won't be impressed with the store, but you are not living in the store, right? You are living in your house, and you want the best deal around. This place will give that to you. Delivery is pretty good in terms of prices, but I was able to borrow use my GF's SUV instead, so I can't really say anything about it. Long story cut short, this place is your ONLY place if you are looking for Indian mattresses.Per the owner, there is just one other store like this in the United States, and that is in Oregan. :-) I am not going to review this place based on the owner. (Enough has been said about her already, and I am in no mood to repeat all that). My 5 star review is for the following: a) Good variety of furniture. (though not too much on display, you will find a lot of them in their catalog). If you are setting up your home for the first time, you can get almost everything here. b) Very reasonably priced. Before you ask for the price, think about how much you would pay. Most certainly the price would match what you thought. :-) c) Most importantly they have mattresses made of a combination of cotton and foam in the right proportion.I have been to n number of mattress stores in the Bay area, and I am yet to find a store that sells something like this. When I walked out of their store, I ended up buying the very first mattress that I tried. :-) This is coming from someone who is just not an impulsive buyer. :-) d) Very quick deliveries, that are reasonably priced. I got my mattress delivered on the very same day, for just a 40$ delivery fee, and I live in Fremont. Now isnt that a deal! :-) e) You are not pressed to buy something you do not like. My son was ready to transition from his convertible crib to a twin bed, and I looked at a lot of furniture at various places online. Eventually, I found a bed with lots of built-in storage and a matching bookcase by Coaster that I liked. The Coaster brand is inexpensive, not high-end furniture, and I knew what to expect in terms of quality (it's okay). I searched around online for the best price from other stores locally and around the country that offered free shipping, and then went to King Futon based on Yelp reviews. Their price pretty much matched the absolute lowest I'd seen elsewhere, and the extra cost for delivery and assembly was reasonable. Also, I was dithering on the finish (walnut vs espresso), and Christina was patient and helpful, even when I called a few hours after leaving the store to change my mind (again). My only complaint is that I was told the items would take one week to arrive if in stock, or 2-3 weeks if on back order. I was informed a few days after making my payment that they were on back order, and it would be 6 to 8 weeks. It was actually just over 8 weeks before the furniture arrived. Fortunately, we weren't in a big hurry. The location is basically a small warehouse and there's not much of a showroom. It's pretty dingy and bare-bones, not the kind of place where you browse a wide selection. They have just enough pieces by various low to mid-range furniture makers to give an idea of the quality and finish options. I think it's best to go there knowing exactly what you want to buy, rather than hang out and flip thru catalogues. They seem to be able to order from pretty much any manufacturer. The delivery and assembly crew was great. They used shoe covers, were polite, and did a very good job putting it all together. Its a small shop but good place to buy light furniture and Indian style cotton mattress. Great customer service and they are very helpful in proving relevant solutions. We bought a dinning table set 6 years back planning to use it for a year or two, but it is still stands very sturdy. Not like Ikea furniture. Prices are pretty reasonable. The firm twin mattress of 6 years is also in the same shape and provides excellent comfort for the back and helps us to sleep really well. We went for 85% cotton and 15% foam. The 100% cotton sags in the middle after some time. The mattress does not move, like some of the spring mattress, if your partner tosses and turns in sleep. the bed does not become hot at night during the summers or cold during the winters.
