The food was good, particularly the steak. The sides like beans , potatoes and rice together are a little odd. The reason for 2 stars is a total lack of any kind of Covid-19 prevention measures. No masks at all on staff even though it mandatory in Omaha, no distancing, zero protocols. Saw the manager eating, pick his teeth with his hand then reach for the toothpick container that was in public use with the dirty hand, got a toothpick and set the container down without wiping it down. Grossed me out. So if you want to risk it, get your food to go! read more

Very large burgers that taste like they were frozen at some point. Mushroom toppings seemed very much like canned mushrooms. Very expensive at $43 for two adult burger meals and a kids chicken fingers. Fries were very good but did not justify the high price. Disappointed to give one star but if you serve me a reheated burger I have no where else to go. Fries were ok. Burger size was huge, had big pieces of bacon on my bacon cheese burger, and was well accompanied by tomato, lettuce, etc. but wasn't very hot and certainly wasn't fresh. read more

I have recommended this place to friends because my first time the food and service were awesome. Today's service - Saturday at 1pm - was terrible. Empty dining room (no wonder). Burger and fries had no flavor and burger was dry. I mentioned to the guy at the counter that my burger was dry and he looked at me, laughed, and said "no". We bantered about it until I told Him it was the worst burger I've ever had and walked out. I've never had a restaurant argue with me over my opinion. So weird. Not to Mention, the manager was standing next to him on his cell phone behind the counter. I went here on Monday and got 2 gyros which was 10 something.. then again on a diff day or the week and got one which was like 8 or 9$ I think they have a special on Mondays for gyros. They where okay. They give free extra sauce. Wish I could have found Johns gyros on fort crook but I couldn't find them. @ least king kong place is easy to find and that's why they got my business. Great quality food and very fast. Only thing I did not like was that you had to pay for mushrooms, onions and peppers separate for your philly. Coming from the east coast where everything is included, that was different. Bathrooms were clean, family friendly. read more

With the remodel and reopening I had positive thoughts trying them out again. To begin, a Greek salad with no protein added a whopping $8.99. This is rediculous for any fast food joint. The toppings were slim the dressing was the highlight. The baklava I swear was not baked. All dough no nuts or honey. Out of all the Greek places in Omaha this would be the LAST PLACE I would go! Burgers are burnt and dry they just need to stop making them period considering there are 1,000 other places to get Nebraska beef burgers like Stella's, TSA truck stop, 11th worth Cafe, Dinkers, Danny's the list goes on and on. This place is unique. They have been in Omaha forever it seems and is a staple. I had the gyro plate today, and my buddy had the sirloin. The gyro meat and pita was delicious, but the tzatziki was sub par at best. The sirloin was cooked perfectly, but grisly. The Fries were crunchy and golden but the salad vinegarette was super salty. Overall, you get a ton of food for a decent price. The food was fast and the store was nice and tidy but it's not 5 star dining. Not bad at all! read more

Not sure why I go back here. My order is wrong, again! I asked for a plain cheeseburger, no fries. Got charged $ 10.95! Checked to see what the H they gave me. It was a hamburger plate. I didn't know you could get that. Went inside and he said he thought I said hamburger plate, not cheeseburger plain. The guy who seemed to be in charge told him to "just give it to me". So I got the same order shoved back at me, soggy burger and all! I then pointed out that I was charged for something I did not want. So I got back some money! I was leery of the idea of 'fast food greek', but they pull it off well here. The variety is probably their best selling point, delicious burgers, great gyros, and even gyro salads! Please do not come here seeking 'authentic' greek food; go to Katie's or the Greek Isles. This is a place to come and have a quick bite without spending a lot of cash. I still just don't get why people love this place. I read all the reviews and thought maybe I ordered the wrong thing last time, so I went back. Your options are essentially a variation on one of the following: hamburger, gyro, philly. Last time, the philly did not impress me. The reviews for the burger were all great though, so I went back. Meh. The burger is big. The fries do have good seasoning. But still, this is definitely not a place I'd go out of the way for. In fact, other than the seasoning on the fries, it isn't a step up from a regular fast food chain for me (although I'd support it over a larger chain) - and especially at the price. I am giving this place three stars only because I enjoyed my gyro. We were visiting Omaha from out of state and saw this place because it was right by the zoo and decided to try it even though it looked a little sketchy. We walked in and it smelled terrible, but wanting to try something we didn't have at home, we still went ahead. My husband ordered his meal, a double cheeseburger with bacon, fries and a drink, the total was $18 before I even ordered. I figured for that price, the food must be pretty good. He took a bite and did not like it one bit. I tried it just to make sure he was telling the truth. It tasted like a frozen patty you buy from the supermarket-definitely disappointed. The food is average at best and you can get a better burger at a lot of other places in town. If you get it to-go, they put it in a styrofoam container that will make your burger sweat like R. Kelly in a girl scout meeting. "I know how you kids like your buns extra soggy!" A double cheeseburger with small fries and a small drink will set you back $13. Food tastes great but the service is horrible. Never go thru the drive-thru. The guy working the window can't understand you, and it is hard to understand him. Just was overcharged for a burger and gyro both with fries. The order was just under $30 and we didn't even get 1 order of fries. The fries we got didn't have seasoning on it. The guy wouldn't give us a receipt and gave us a printing error of why he couldn't print one. They also tied the bag into 3 knots so we couldn't open up the order to check till we were home as there was a line behind us. Bought a double Kong burger the total was $17 and it didn't include a drink. Got charged $4 for some cold fries that had been sitting there under a heat lamp and the burger I paid $13 for wasn't even made fresh. Within 35 seconds of paying for my food my burger was done so everything was sitting there when I bought the order. There is a nation wide recall on ALL Romaine lettuce and guess what kind of lettuce my burger had?! I love this place! The best Greek salad in town. They also have the closest thing to a real Philly cheese steak in Nebraska, or the mid-west for that matter! They have amazing fries and whatever seasoning they use is addicting. This is the best location to visit, other than the one in Lincoln. I've decided to stop eating at King Kong. The food used to be ok, especially considering it's one of the very few late night places to get food. But they consistently get my order wrong and prices keep changing and worst of all, the gyro meat was gray and disgusting. I literally took one bite and threw the rest away. While cruising around looking for a munch at 10pm and trying to avoid places with a dollar menu, I stopped at KK hoping to see a fight or robbery or some other disturbance. But no. The cops were just pigging out. I went in already knowing my order from checking the menu online. My Chicken Philly with onions almost became a regular Philly with peppers until I caught the slab of beef being thrown on the grill. At that point I felt compelled to confirm my entire order with the glassy-eyed lad behind the counter. He cockily assured me. What I found when I uncovered the styrofoam at home I can only attribute to a straight up language barrier. My "small Greek salad" somehow became a "kids Gyro with fries," and my requested side of mayo was absent. The Chicken Philly was excessively salty to the point where the cheese was completely drowned out, but I have to hand it to them, the way they chop it up is the closest thing to what you'd find in the City of Brotherly Shove. The fries seem like they're dredged in flour; they're tasty, but hefty and over-processed. At $15 for the above meal, this place will keep me out of late night local businesses and in the drive thru lane, unfortunately. read more

When visiting Omaha and a friend told us to give Kong Burgers a try. SWEET BABY JESUS THE BURGER WAS BIG ENOUGH TO FEED A SMALL FAMILY FOR A WEEK. I am not joking. My friend convinced me to order the Super Kong Burger which was 4 patties deep and 2 pounds. It was amazing. Didn't finish it and hated myself for trying but it was an incredibly delicious giant burger. Wife had the Gyro's which she raved about for a good while. Overall great food. The only thing not impressive was the cleanliness of the place, not dirty, but not clean either. read more

The giant burgers found at Kongs are perfect for sharing with your kid as I will attest. They are huge and pretty good, seasoned with a geek spice mix. The fries are, as served too salty/ peppery to me and I recommend asking for no salt as they will honor the request and there is plenty around to fulfill your desires. The gyros are also quite large and good as well. For the vegetarians note that you can order a sandwich sans meat and they do a fine job. read more

I came in here after being at the zoo all day and was looking forward to a good meal. Aside from the service, it was OK. I waited for someone to take my order for like 5 minutes. Mind you the place was dead. Finally the cook came around and asked if I have been helped. I said no and he walked off and few minutes later someone finally took my order. This used to be one of my favorite places. Last few times I've been there though it's gone WAY down hill. Meat wasn't done in the middle. The greek salad was also really awful. Been a fan of King Kongs for over two decades now. You can't brat them for food quality. Their burgers are 1/2 pounders. The steak and gyros are cooked to perfection. The dinner plates are awesome. If you leave here hungry see your doctor. You may have a tape worm. Make sure to get some baklava to take home. read more
