After a 7 hour drive from Chicago on moving day to Omaha, Don & Millie's was my first meal. Over the course of four years living in Omaha, it became a staple for me. Located just down the street, I would mindlessly drive here when I didn't want to think about what I wanted to eat. This location has always had great customer service and is quick to fix mistakes. I gravitate towards the mandarin chicken salad but always have to get a side of onion rings added. From burgers, to frenchees, to margaritas, I've had it all. Have you ever been in a hurry and wanted to grab a quick bite, but didn't want run of the mill fast food? Don & Millie''s might just be the place for you. Their signature sandwich is the "Frenchee", which is breaded, battered, and deep fried. The regular version of the sandwich is grilled cheese, but I had the ham and cheese. Despite the deep fry, it wasn't the least bit greasy...just crispy. The sandwich is thought to originate from the French Croque Monsieur sandwich. This one is less fancy pants, but still good. Having said that, the sandwich itself begs to be dipped. The dipping sauce seems to work better with chicken fingers, but there's something special about dipping a grilled ham & cheese in soup. The baked potato soup is hearty and flavorful, and works well as a dip, too. They also give you a Halloween-size M&M bag. Not a huge thing, but a nice surprise. The food was served quickly, and I like the 1950s look and feel of the place. This was a welcome detour from the usual fast food. read more

I wanted baked potato soup, so naturally I went to Don & Millie's at 107th and West Center Road. I had the spoiled dogs with me so they got some chicken fingers. The soup was great, as usual. The chicken fingers looked a bit like McD's but they were much better with actual chicken, not the mashed together junk. This became important because I accidentally let my dogs out of the car when the neighbors' dogs were already out and a fracas occurred through the fence. It was short-lived because the chicken strips lured my dogs away from the melee, thus saving neighborly relations. So why the three stars? Well, it was the new cookie recipe. I like the original recipe much better. My disappointed mouth was expecting something else. It's kind of like when Runza changed their cinnamon roll recipe. Many of us stopped buying their cinnamon rolls until they changed it back. Some folks no doubt will like the new cookie recipe, but not me. I may get my baked potato soup fix here, but will definitely get my cookie elsewhere else. read more

I was excited to go to Don &Millie's. I like their classic vibes but at this location specifically I got rushed with my order. It was on a day off from work and I always provide good service at my job so it just caught me off guard to get rushed so hard in the drive-through line. The woman was stern it seemed and I felt an underlying strong not even close to 60% positive attitude towards me while getting my obese taken. read more

Our burger dripped grease and was way over cooked. I ordered the chili dog, you have to pay extra for cheese or jalapeños. The onion rings are charged an up-charge, they were quite crispy also. Reminded me of a fast food place I went to as a kid. The clerk was nice but the food was less than desirable. read more

This is my first time eating at this particular location, and I had a great experience. The employees were super friendly and they were quick to get your food out. The grilled chicken club was very good, but I opted to add a little ranch to give it some sauce. Their queso is very good, and they offer a lot of chips to go with it. This is our go-to location for burgers and fries. They make delicious burgers with beef that looks real. Parking is in a private lot. Entry is from the lot. There is also a drive through window. Staff has been good throughout our visits. I recommend the double-double. It's a double cheeseburger with double cheese. Delicious. We keep returning. read more

Gosh, I really struggle choosing my meal when I go to Don and Millie's, there are just too many good options. When I am pregnant and like to indulge I get the chicken fingers and french fry onion ring combo. The tenders are nicely breaded and real juicy and the proportion is just right. The french fries are shoe strings and the perfect amount of soft and crunchy. The onion rings, oh I love onion rings, and these never disappoint. They're crunchy, savory and just greasy enough to satisfy any comfort food you might be craving. Even if I'm looking for a healthier option they offer more than just a Chef salad; there the Mandarin Salad with wonton strips or the Double Berry Salad with strawberry and cranberry and feta! (I still order the onion ring combo). All in all this place can satisfy every foodie in your family. If you're dining in, try the .99 margaritas! read more

My 2 go-to meals at Don & Millie's are the smoked turkey wrap when I'm feeling like something "healthy" and the cheeseburger & onion rings combo when I'm not. I like to alternate dipping the onion rings into ketchup, their awesome ranch or southwest style sauce conveniently placed self-serve on the pickup counter. Located right at the corner of 108th & Center, they have a drive thru but I usually prefer to eat in one of their roomy booths. Usually there are sports on one of the many TVs. Nice place to stop and grab a quick bite that's good but not overly pricey. read more

When I want comfort food, Don & Millie's is my place of choice. I had a couple bowls of chili, with a baked potato. I had forgotten about the potatoes, so it was nice to be able to get them. The chili was spicier than I remember, which is too bad, since I don't like spicy. I do wish they would have the baked potato soup year-round, rather than seasonal for the fall, winter, and spring. If anyone is looking for a good burger, the Double Don is quite tasty. Get the Triple Don if you are really hungry. Their cookies are good, too. This was my very first visit to Don and Millie's, off of Center Road and the 680 freeway. I was surprised to see many cars lined up in the drive thru lane at a non prime time hour. I walked in and ordered the number 2 combo and substituted onion rings for the fries. I didn't mind the 50's music but I am sure the millennial workers didn't care for this music selection, even though it was an important generation for music experimentation and historical significance for today's music. The burger was average in my opinion and enjoyed the onion rings light batter and flavor. I haven't discovered yet why people were lined up for the food, based on my first impression. If given another opportunity to visit, I would pick another entree. read more

I love Don and Millies. I really do. But since having gone gluten-free about a year ago, Don and Millies has been off our list of favorites. Sure, they list gluten-free options on their online menu, but it's sort of misleading. For them, gluten-free is simply a matter of ordering a hamburger without a bun. But without the bun, it's not really a hamburger, is it? Places like Culvers and Red Robin and Paradise Cafe actually have gluten-free buns, so you truly get a real hamburger or a genuine sandwich. On the plus side for Don and Millies, their baked potato soup and chili are both gluten-free. And they occasional run specials. The day we were there, the chili was only 99 cents a bowl. It was tasty with a bit of a spicy kick to it, and it had ample chunks of their hamburger meat in it. For an extra cost, we added cheese (cheese is free at Runza). It's hearty; one bowl will definitely be enough. But it will stick with you in more ways than just sating your hunger. The chili burps and painful bloating stayed with us for a few hours after the meal. Other chilis in town don't do that. So, in conclusion, if you have food intolerances, Don and Millies is not a good choice. If, on the other hand, you have food freedom, Don and Millies is still a good place for a tasty hamburger and fries. read more

As an Omaha transplant, I had lived the first 20-something years of my life without Don & Millie's. That is 20-something years too long without D&M's. I genuinely did not know that fast food can be this good. I have had almost everything that the D&M's menu has to offer, and I am yet to find something that wasn't good. The burgers are juicy, hearty, and incredibly delicious. The chicken sandwiches are just as good and you'll even feel all healthy for having eaten lightly and not cramming home a cheese smothered grease-bomb. Hell even the turkey wrap is good. I mean it's a turkey wrap, no one's expecting to be impressed yet here we are. The chili is excellent, and the onion rings are some of the best I've ever been served in a restaurant. Oh, and I always get some western sauce on the side to dip my fries in because that stuff is like crack. Simply put, every thing I've had here knocks it out of the park. Probably the only real complaint I have about the restaurant is the location because it's a pain getting in here if you're heading west on center St. Oh... another thing... 99¢ margaritas. Got regular toppings but didn't know they now charge for them - $3.30. Two cookies that were small & hard - the size of chips a hoy - $1.49. I went yesterday with my boyfriend whose birthday was recently and with all the Covid going on he hasn't gotten his new license yet, waiting for it through the mail, yesterday we went to w center & they said it didn't matter if it was expired as long as he was 21 & served him margaritas. We came in today & they denied him & said "managers have to check ID" we told him which employee did it and we understand the policy and it's OK but then they started giving us a lot of attitude for no reason, because once I mentioned how yesterday they excepted his ID but now today they didn't, they wanted to say today's a new day and when I gave them the employees information they said it didn't matter and that they have a policy to follow which I completely understand, but the way they said it & came about it was extremely rude & I felt uncomfortable and made to feel stupid. After doing so they only served me "one margarita" at a time. POLICY IS TWO PER PERSON. Went to Don & Millie's on 108th and Center for lunch and 1st order was made with a bottom bun made with soaked with grease. Went to the manager and told them to remake the order without saying what it needed to be remade as. Order was made incorrectly a 2nd time and I was blamed for not telling the manager exactly what my order was as I would've expected them to look and make it accordingly, but to no surprise, that didn't happen. The meal was finally made correctly the 3rd time. Been going to Don & Millie's for 15 yrs as my favorite restaurant and have never had a bad experience from a manager standpoint until now. 107th is only 5 min away from work but I'd drive an extra 20 min and go to a different location in town where the service is better. So gross. They're the only place I know with cheese frenchees and I almost never get one but it sounded good. Big mistake. It was was inedible. I took one bite and almost threw up. It was just a bread sponge saturated with old oil and a slice of american cheese. It was obvious that the oil was rancid and needed to bee changed.
