I had just moved to Colorado and been here two weeks and had had my medicine transferred. Gabriella, the pharmacist, was especially kind, considerate and welcoming, especially in dealing with RXs that have proven in the past in other states to be troublesome. While adjusting to some of the Colorado grocery bagging laws I was helped by the staff when my energy crashed. The food selection was excellent, but the most important thing was the customer service, in all areas, especially after having recovered from major surgery. At the inception of the store opening it was wonderful but over the last five years it is downright disappointing. There's no security guards... and they let the criminals walk out and they don't do anything about it. It's true!! Meanwhile, we all pay more to recoup their losses? Why? I have never taken the time to negatively review a grocery store but this kind of behavior has got to be addressed. The town of Castle Rock is one of the nicest communities in the country. First I want to address the deli. A prime example of our frustration is our experience tonight. I sent my husband to this location tonight to pick up some corned beef and rye bread for some sandwiches for dinner and for his lunches this week. He specifically requested it "thin: almost shaved. Somewhere between shaved and the thinnest they can slice it". I have a medical condition in which I don't digest food the way other people do as well as two members of our family suffer from dry mouth. He made the trip with plenty of time for them to process his order. He came home and $40 later in corned beef, it's sliced about 2mm thick. It's clear that the employees have it in their head that they can save time by cutting it thick and have to move their arms less to get to 2 lbs. Now, I realize you'll have to move your arms twice or maybe even three times as much to accommodate our request but having been in customer service for nearly 30 years, I know that if you don't do it right, you'll end up doing it right the second time. I'm beyond disappointed in the lack of service in this store. Ordering online and picking up here takes forever. Items are expired so check your labels. Management is a mess. These issues should be resolved by now. Roll the staff that doesn't want to do the job they're hired to do and put some pride into your company you represent everyday. Went to the bakery counter and eventually got the attention of the person behind the counter who said, "I'll be over in a minute." So after a couple minutes he started to move, but as it turns out he was going in "back." When he finally returned he went back to his previous spot, not even looking around the counter. Finally he looked up, saw me and looked startled, like "Where did you come from?" Then he said, I'll get somebody to help you in a couple minutes." I walked away. From experience first hand, they have security challenges and have had their fair share of employees that are down right nasty, mean, rude, disrespectful, insulting... When it comes to customers checking out their own groceries, at this location you better make sure you don't mess up, otherwise expect to get your butt chewed out in public. I have shopped at this King Soopers for at least five years and with the current construction traffic it's an effort to go there versus somewhere else and typically the staff is very helpful and polite but today I have to say, Tammy the manager was about as rude as possible to honor a coupon that was stated on the display, but wouldn't scan properly on the King Soopers app (go figure) and yet she was so rude that she had to come over and assist the cashier. For my son's birthday party I had planned on blowing up balloons at home but I had a total disaster with our helium tank. I went to King Soopers to get them blown up there. No one was in the floral department so I waited a few minutes. Lori, the Starbucks manager asked me if I had been helped. When I told her no, she immediately paged someone for me. No one came, so she paged again. After a few minutes with no one coming, she asked me what I needed. When I told her that I just needed some balloons blown up, she told me that she could take care of it no problem. As she was taking care of me, the floral manager came. Although, she could tell that I was irritated with trying to use my electronic phone device. She remained calm, cool, and collected to ensure my customer satisfaction. This is a very lame store. The store directory signs are wrong. They aren't all the same. The person that laid this out is an imbecile. Put all categories of stuff in one location. Not in 3-4 different spots. First they want to charge you for bags. No problem. But I'm not bagging my groceries. The Checkout people sucker dummies into doing it. I simply refuse. I do bag my own at self checkout no problem. If you have any alcohol in self checkout the attendants seem to have a hard time noticing the blinking light for I'd check. Hello, this location is the king of marketplace. Brand new, loads of parking, Starbucks, US bank, and Brothers BBQ all located inside. The liquor section is gigantic it takes up 1/3 of the building and I was able find rare High West Double Rye whisky. My only complaint is the salad bar, wish they stock beets and hot foods like pulled pork or at least tuna salad. But the the price is less at $7 per pound versus Whole Foods $10. This is by far the worst grocery store I have ever been to. Every single time I come, there are 3 to 5 employees standing next to the bagging area of my lane, and just talk amongst themselves while I bag my own groceries, show my ID for wine, then pay. If you are looking for a job where you can literally stand around and do absolutely nothing and still get a paycheck, then I recommend working here. If you value your time ans the businesses you frequent, I highly recommend you do not shop here. And please do not blame "short staffed" like 99% of businesses who actually are. I order from king soopers pickup about once a month and I am so disappointed with this service lately! Almost every single time I order, about three or four of my items are "out of stock". Every time that happens I run in to see if they're really out of stock or if the employees just are lazy and can't find something and I'm blown away at the amount of times this happens to me! Once they were out of olives so I went in to look and there was a whole aisle wall filled with olives. Like you can't miss it. What really ticked me off was today I ordered four 10 packages of boneless skinless chicken thighs. I got a message from kings asking if 5 of the bone in chicken thighs and 5 packages of chicken breasts works as a substitute in which I immediately replied no. I go to pickup my order and I have these 10 packages of chicken I'm not going to be able to use for my meals. I proceed to customer service to return and the lady takes them but says to me it's a shame they are all going to have to be thrown out. Almost like she thought I was at fault Or something. I was dumbfounded! You can't let someone else take them home or donate them? You're just going to throw away 100$ worth of chicken?! So wasteful and really annoyed she felt the need to tell me that. Anyone that has shopped at King Soopers over a lot of years can clearly see the serious deterioration in employee quality. It's not just the fact that when I bought only 5 items here yesterday, that 2 of them (40% of the total) rang up incorrectly at the register. No, the problem is that when I caught the mistake of the first item, the checker corrected that mistake(correct price was clearly marked on the package) and said they would have to look into that. I would bet you $1,000 that this kid never did another thing about it after I left, and numerous other KS customers got ripped off because they bought the same exact item and they never bother to pay attention to what they are being charged. Any takers? I didn't notice until this morning that a 2nd item was also incorrectly rung up. I returned to the KS Customer Service Desk where the Supervisor waited on me. He refunded the overcharge(ANY MISTAKE WILL NEVER BE IN YOUR FAVOR). No apology whatsoever for their mistake. Just a condescending "Have a nice day." It used to be that these overcharged items were free(Remember that?), because of their employee ignorance in pricing incorrectly. NOT ANY MORE! Now it is the customer's fault. They have wisely and profitably realized that the employee Intelligence Quotient has deteriorated incredibly over the years. Apparently they are forced to hire the "stupid people," that come with no tact, no manners and as in the case of this intellectually challenged dolt "supervisor," no managerial skills. I really hate to leave negative reviews as I would rather focus on those doing it right. I was getting a few groceries for the Super Bowl party. Went to check out when it rang up the original cost vs the discount offer on plastic cups. $4.49 to $2.99. I ask the attendant (Ken) and he said that's the price. I had taken a picture to prove their discount offer. He said that's only if you purchase 5. (See photo). For 5 it was $1.99 ea. He said in a tone that sounded like I was trying to get something from him, " well I'll give it to you, to get you out of here." I said read the ad, "your not giving me anything." He took of the insignificant amount and walked behind me. He then said out loud "I feel like a mom, always taking care of children ". I felt that was insulting and said "what did you say"? He said "I wasn't talking to you"! I said "you were talking about me or others you have to help". I finished and walked to the front customer service to call their attention to this behavior. The lady listened to my story and said " I will inform HQ". I doubted her sincerity as I would have said, "I will inform the manager or assistant manager". I won't be treated like this! Came to customer service and returned it. 3rd click list experience (shame on me, I suppose): received call they were behind, was asked to come in later. I came later (never received notice my order was ever ready, never got notice of substitutions). Was told they were out of stock on the frozen green chiles I ordered. Knowing better, I parked the car, went inside, and found enough green chiles to have my own green chile festival, right there in the aisle. So I buy some. I get home and find I DID actually receive/pay for a container of frozen chiles... except it didn't have a protective seal, and it was covered in leaked out chiles. So I go back to the store a SECOND time, this time to get my money back. It looks like I'll have to go back to the store a third time, because I just noticed the package of beef they gave me expired two days prior to the pickup date and it smells rancid. Cool. So basically, use click list if you like making grocery shopping four times harder and more complex than it needs to be. When you shop in the store you deal with catatonic, unhelpful check stand employees. It's a shame such a nice, relatively new store is run like such garbage. read more

The Promenade Parkway King Soopers has really gone downhill. The produce is poorly stocked and the case with packaged greens frequently has items that are spoiling. The personal shoppers are rude and obstruct the aisles for the poor souls who still shop for themselves. There are no baggers, and while bagging for oneself is not a problem, the cashiers wing your purchases down the belt with little regard to how everything is piling up. They don't lift a finger to help. The prices are going up and now the store requires you to use digital coupons to realize savings you thought you were getting with your loyalty card. Wow, nice upgrade King Soopers! No longer do we have to wonder what it would be like to have an all in one (that isn't Wal Mart). The new Kings is bigger than the old Kings, the size is stellar, and selection is heads and shoulders above anything else here in Castle Rock. There's a large pharmacy and a huge selection of natural remedies as well. The aisles are super wide, the shelves hold more selections than what you'll remember from the old location, or perhaps even more than what you knew existed, lol. There's lots of stuff to see. I heard someone describe it as sensory overload, but I have to say I didn't have that issue. While there's a lot here it's laid out well enough that things flow pretty smoothly and the aisles make sense. Now that I've seen what a grocery store can be, it'll be difficult for me to settle for others. read more

Finding that anything listed as a Kroger brand is getting pretty shabby. Second time I got Kroger brand Hardwood Smoked Bacon and second time I'm disappointed. It's like buying slices of very fatty ham. Wanted to make BLTs but ended up with a fried ham Sandwich with fat. Very thick slices on top and mini pieces on the bottom. Of course if you have 2 hours to stand in front of stove moving and turning it, it we'll eventually look like bacon. Come on King Soopers!! read more

I have been coming here since they have opened and the people working there used to be friendly, now it seems like customers annoy them. The other day I needed milk and was waiting for the worker to be done grabbing items for customer pickup and when she noticed me, she seemed so annoyed that I was waiting and slowly moved out of the way. The food quality and inventory has been really good and I haven't had any problems (besides March/April but that wasn't their fault). I would recommend this grocery store, but just be prepared for unfriendly workers. read more
