I never ever have I had. a good experience at this store. Not only do all of their carts not work, but the customer service is atrocious. clerks are just standing and watching you ring up items and falsely accuse you of either checking out too many items, not taking the item out of the cart and placing them on the machine even though it's heavy items, or simply accuse me of scanning one item for another more expensive item. Today I had to deal with a clerk who couldn't read the receipt, but insisted that I was stealing. After I had to literally show him the receipt several times did he begrudgingly leave me alone and let me leave. Terrible terrible awful awful. There is NOTHING good to say about this Safeway! Besides it being disgustingly overpriced, the store is filthy, refrigerators have years of caked-on grime and filth, the horrible stench of the bathrooms seeps into the checkout areas- and forget trying to use the bathroom- you won't be able to breathe. They don't check expiration dates and I've often found expired dairy & meat still on shelves. And then there's the rude, nasty cashiers. Fletcher -specifically- is one of the most miserable, rudest jerks in existence and not only rude to me but even when I avoid him, I hear him being short, sharp, extremely unfriendly, dismissing people when they ask for his help or just totally ignoring them if their self checkout machine is giving problems. There's also a female cashier who oversees the self checkout who is always accusing people of stealing and gets really mean if anyone tries to go through self checkout with even 1 item over the "15 Items Or Less" rule. Jeez!! Got flowers last Friday- started to wilt in 2 days. Wasn't able to take them back until yesterday. They used to have the best flowers around prior to Kim getting promoted- she was great. So took them back - didn't have my receipt but did have the wrapper with the Safeway tag. Was told they wouldn't refund without the receipt. I asked them to just verify my purchase using my card. They said they can't do that, even though they've done it many times before. Eventually they reluctantly gave me a refund. There are some good people who work at the store, like Cara and like John in produce and the pharmacy staff. Their deli and meat counter people are almost always helpful. But they also have some buttholes who should never be in contact with customers- gotta wonder how they keep their jobs, and you gotta wonder how Safeway can stay in business when they they downgrade and devalue customer service. read more

I drive for uber eats. Was picking up an order, and the young man questioned why it took me so long to get to the store. I told him I dropped off an order and accepted my next pickup which was at this store. He gave me attitude, shook his head and said there's a time limit. He then threw the bags on a bench and sarcastically said have a good night. As a driver all I can do is pick up the order and wait for my next delivery to come through the app, it's not up to me how far away I am from the next pickup. Maybe Uber eats isn't a good option for this location. Customer service is awful in this location. I've also been a customer for a long time, but I'm not coming back. Close to this store so we stopped in to see what they had for filets. It's a nice store. They have a large Asian and Mexican section. Love it! The filets looked good so we selected some. And a little chocolate treat from the Asian section. Self checkout - tricky scanning your frequent shopper card. Sometimes it takes two or three tries. The attendant wasn't having a good day I think. No cheery acknowledgement. Oh well. Parking lot had lots of parking which was nice. We got in and we got out quickly. read more

The sushi chef at this location is awesome ! His sushi is always fresh , flavorful (California Salad roll) , and the rice on the sushi is well seasoned and the perfect amount of sticky ! This is my go to grocery store , it's usually quiet during the day and their produce is great. read more

I have been a loyal customer at this Safeway for more than two decades. Over the last few years, however, it has become painfully evident that many employees are miserable and/or do not have a basic understanding of customer service. I shop here because (1) it is convenient and (2) there are good discounts--if I am willing to spend time in the app looking for them. Within the last year, I have had multiple upsetting encounters with staff in the self-check area and groceries crushed on the conveyor belts by oblivious cashiers. My experience yesterday was the last straw and prompted me to open a Yelp account just so I could vent. Lately, I can't help but notice fewer and fewer customers throughout the store being "served" by a handful of apathetic and rude staff. Note: The folks I saw on the picket line a few weeks ago were the ones who have shown the most kindness to me over the years. And while I would hate to see them lose their jobs, I'd really like to see this store close and a better grocery store take its place. In the meantime, I am taking most of my $7,000 annual grocery budget to other stores around town. I'll sacrifice my gas discounts for the greater good. From what I see, I may be one of the last rats to jump ship, but I've experienced misery one time too many and am tired of dreading going there. Who's with me?! read more

Today was the fourth time in the past 10 days I went to this Safeway for wings from the wing bar, but they still didn't have any crispy wings. The first couple times I asked at the deli and was told they were out. Then last time I asked I was told they didn't have room on the bar, so they only made them every other day, which is a lie as each time there was a clean empty pan on the bar where they usually are. read more

The pickup employees are on top of it, they greet you cheerfully, and are professional and efficient with loading the groceries into your car with a smile on their face! I've never been treated so badly by a cashier at Safeway in Castle Rock. I am a older adult female who was instructed by the cashier named Fletcher to first show my drivers license because a had purchased some wine. I understand that showing a license is policy. I continued to empty my cart and then was asked to put in my phone # for the discount.....I had already done that. After I had emptied the cart, the cashier spoke to me in a rude manner and said to look over my right shoulder.......why? No reason was given. He then walked over and pointed to the bags I had put at the end of the counter......indicating that I was to pack my grocery's. OK....why does a customer have to pack their own groceries?? Isn't that part of the service for a grocery store to offer to its customers. Then after all the bags were packed he stared at me and asked for my credit card.....which because of all the other issues and questions I had to acknowledge, I had forgotten to swipe. My comment to him was...."really after all that" I will never shop at this Safeway again and I hope that it will be one of the Safeway"s that will be closed when the merger of Albertson's and Kroger takes place. This Safeway is in a good strategic location in south east Castle Rock because there aren't any competitors within a reasonable walking distance. It is a clean and organized store. They have a good variety of products that a grocery store should have. The only thing that bothered me was the service. We tried to buy prepared food from the service deli but were unsuccessful because they did not have the meat we wanted prepped and when we tried to buy what they did have available they couldn't get a manger over to unlock the register after 25 min. We just gave up. We may be back if we just need to pick up something (not from the service deli) really quick since this store is very close to where we live. For bigger shopping trips I am still inclined to go elsewhere. read more

I was there on Sunday, 4/9 around 3:00. The checker was using one hand to scan my items and then throwing them to the end of the stand. I had to bag my own stuff, which I thought was only for the self check-out. He said that since they started charging for bags, they don't bag anymore. The checker on the isle next to us said that wasn't true, but did not come over to help. I am not sure who gets the $.10 for each bag since the law doesn't go into effect until next year? I will not go back to that store. Rib eyes were on sale, but they had none. The guy behind the meat counter told me he had lots of chicken, just not the rib eyes. I drive the extra 7 miles to shop here as I follow their adds. Unfortunately, typically they are out of 50% of the advertised items. Lots of improvements can be made but the one you need to note as a potential shopper is ALWAYS review your receipt. Today they made two big errors and I was overcharged over $26. That's a lot of money for me. I had to go back to the store twice to get it resolved. They tried to tell me that I had to buy two of the items to get that deal. I did and it showed correctly on the receipt. The second time I went back was for another error and once again they tried to tell me I needed to buy 4 items to get that offer. I had them look at the receipt and they had to acknowledge I did indeed buy the required items. Then they were going to reluctantly give me a refund but they tried to short me again as they didn't note all the extra taxes I paid because they were beverages...$5.26. This is NOT a one time occurrence. This happens regularly so just take the time to be aware of it. read more

I'm only giving two stars because some of the staff are pretty friendly. But this Safeway is in major need of a makeover. It's depressing and dirty from the moment you walk in. There was even squashed raspberry on the belt at checkout. The overall appearance gives an impression that no one really cares. This place needs some love. It's surprising that Safeway's corporate office allows such a low standard. Very sad and very unfortunate. Until things improve, I will avoid shopping here. read more

This Safeway is ran by incompetent boobs. A customer or cart pusher damaged my wifes vehicle with a cart and they refused to take responsibility for it. The store is a bit dingy and the staff can be a bit daft at times, you will often see them standing around playing on their phones. They need to overhaul this store from the top down. It's very ugly and outdated and they prices on almost eveything is ridiculous. They only reason why we are in there in the first place is because their pharmacy is pretty decent. read more

We ordered delivery of groceries after a busy week so that we could prepare quiet dinner at home. Although the first two deliveries didn't bring us our items-the store manager Tasha personally delivered our items and even gave us a free dessert. We appreciate their kindness and loyalty to their neighborhood patrons. So many people complain, we want to provide an example of a situation where they corrected a delivery concern and turned this into a great outcome. read more

Every time I call in to have my prescriptions filled they act like they are being put out. I'm tired of the huffing over the phone and their talk of "well we can't fill it for three days". Negative comments and a no can do attitude. I started having my scripts filled in Parker because they are amazing. Always going out of their way to get you your meds in good time. read more

If you can choose to shop anywhere else, I suggest you do so. I checked out through a lane and an older gentleman was the cashier. I assumed that I would have no issues with attitude and I was completely wrong. This gentleman had an issue with me bagging my groceries, then proceeded in constantly running the conveyor so that my groceries would ram into my hands as I was picking them up to bag them. He continued by making rude comments as he shoved my groceries into a heap. He was in such a rush and told me to give him my number to enter for my rewards as he was tired of waiting on me. As I went to pay, he refused to state my total, which was $300, and looked the other direction. Once my receipt printed, he then said "Wow. You have an astonishing 16 points. Good for you." Once home, I found that several items had been rung up wrong. This person should never deal with people. I will never return to this store and will advertise this type of service. read more

Not a buggy to be found in the store on either side of the store. They are all out in the parking lot. I struggled around the store carrying heavy items. When I got to checkout, I mentioned that I had a rough time to the checker and the bagger. They bagged up my groceries and neither offered to find me a cart. I struggled to carry all the groceries out to the car. I dropped groceries all over the parking lot. The same bagger was walking out of the store, saw me picking up all my groceries off the street and failed to ask if he could help. I tried to call the store and got no answer. Ugh. I hate to drive 15 minutes to go to kings but will start doing so since Safeway employees are paycheck players. read more

His name tag was Sean & he had half black & blonde hair. He called me horrible slurs & names. I was left immediately & was crying in my car for hours because i have never had something like that happen to me. I usually like going to Safeway but today as I shopped I noticed person after person without a mask on. One of which works in the bakery! The pandemic is not over and we should still be respectful of others. I normally would not complain and I've never done a Yelp review, but today really frustrates me. I mask myself and my child. I keep my distance and keep my kid from getting too close to others... out of respect for them! I complained to the nice young man at the customer service counter and he said, while masks are "mandatory" they can't refuse service. Safeway has been my pick over other foodstores in Castle Rock. Can't do it any more. Need an amigo cart. At best they have 2 working at any time but mostly not charged - way fewer than needed for the population. Need brands beyond store brands - not competing brands but brands that step up in quality or process. The bank is gone and there aren't many banks in this end of town. Responses from staff re products or services are usually negative, accompanied by a lot of frustration and low morale - why try, etc. Albertson's needs to step up to serving a growing area like Castle Rock. 'this store is the only one around so they can do what they want. The lines are long at busy times and a lot of closed registers. The self check out is not that great. I have had on several occasions. people walk right up and ignore the lines and the employees just stands there and watch. Today was the thing that really turned me off from shopping at this store. Due to injuries my daughter need a electric wheeled cart. My wife was putting it back and had difficulty, other push carts were in the way. One of the employees walk right past her not giving any help or "time of the day" this was the same person who paged our groceries. WOW customer service, NOT. The last thing I understand helping the needy, however someone walking around in a costume getting into everyones face for money is a bit irritating, never seen this in another store.
