To be fair, the service technicians who came to my home were generally professional and did their best to help. My concerns are with management's follow-through and customer support once problems arise. Based on my experience, I can no longer recommend San Diego Hot Springs and would encourage prospective buyers to carefully consider the level of post-sale support they may receive.

I signed up for their O-Care program which keeps me current on my spa treatment supplies and provides free delivery as well as a $10 discount on my orders all while extending my heater warranty to their Lifetime Heater Warranty. Joe also got me set up with the ability to control my hot tub through an app which is a wonderful feature. I can't forget to mention how wonderful the hot tub itself is. Found the problem, fixed it quickly and then spent extra time going over how to use the hot tub and how to add the chemicals. Disappointing Service from Owner Despite Years of Satisfaction…read moreWe've owned our Caldera Spa from The Spa & Patio for several years and have been very happy with it. When we discovered a leak just before our warranty expired in December, we called for service. The technician confirmed the leak and suggested we remove the insulation ourselves to expedite the repair, which we did. We quickly located the problem: a leaking 3-inch PVC fitting. When we called to schedule the repair, we were told it wouldn't be covered under warranty due to evidence of rodent droppings. While I understand denying coverage for damage caused by rodents (like chewed hoses), this was a large 3-inch PVC fitting--clearly a workmanship issue, not rodent damage. Regardless, we were willing to pay out of pocket to get it fixed. That's when owner Ian called (when I spoke with him I was unaware he was the owner). Rather than schedule the repair, he advised us to hire a local handyman because his technician would charge us for probably around $1,300 "or more." The technician was prepared to come out when Ian called him back and questioned why we were proceeding with the repair. I was shocked that the owner actively discouraged us from using his own service. We canceled and hired a local professional who was supportive, knowledgeable, and completed the repair quickly for one-third of the quoted price. He shared with us the leak was due to shoddy work when the spa was made, not the work of a rodent. After years as satisfied customers of the spa we purchased from them, this experience was deeply disappointing. A business owner should stand behind their products and support their customers--not turn them away.

He was able to replace and fix a separate wiring issue he noticed for a small extra charge rather than having to call in other contractors or delay the work. Some were large corporations and some smaller operations. Most estimates came in very close in price. To me price was not the number one factor, after reading reviews and talking to people in the industry, we chose to go with So Cal Custom Pools. I was very impressed with Jimi and how everything from start to finish was handled. Little things to me are important, like show up when you say you will, complete a job to the best of your ability. Jimi showed up every time when he said he would, the pool was completed on time and looks amazing. I would always know when someone was coming to the house, I received either a call of text prior to someone showing up. We started with demo, the demo crew removed all the old plaster, tile and cooping, when the crew was completed the yard was swept and cleaned after. Everything looked clean and the crew took pride in the work. Next we had the tile and coping installed. I did have 2 small change orders. I changed the water feature and had the tile guys do a little more work than was originally expected. This was the only increase to the pricing and everything else came out exactly as expected. Once the tile and coping were installed the pebble was installed. The crew showed up and completed this in the morning. As soon as the plaster was completed we started to fill the pool immediately. Prior to using CCC, we had another local pool service and had frequent problems with water turning green and our young kids at the time getting frequent ear infections from dirty water. Every time we had an issue, the company would say we weren't running the filter enough, or brushing down pool walls enough, or the weather that year was crazy causing many pool problems. I finally took a water sample to Leslies pool supplies and they said the chemical balance was way off and our pool guy wasn't doing a good job.
