First time here but it's been on my bucket list. Cute sandwich spot next to my favorite Old Town coffee shop so it was perfect! You can sit in but its tiny; you can also order to go and pickup which seemed smooth too. My sandwich is bomb. Popped in for a quick lunch to go. Staff was quick and food came out piping hot (I ordered a chicken quesadilla) and cold (turkey avocado wrap). Food had great flavor and made for very happy bellies. I forgot to take pictures of the food (sigh) but I did take updated pictures of the menu. They are doing a bulgogi cheesesteak sub wed-Friday and sadly we went on a Tuesday! Small, hole-in-the-wall cafe with welcoming staff. The menu is simple but has the breakfast staples: sandwiches, burritos, etc. I had a bacon, egg and cheese burrito and the flavor was great. The burrito itself was on the smaller side but it was the right amount by the time I was done with it. There's a few tables inside but a lot of their business is take-out. Coffee is self serve and you pay once you're done eating. Loved visiting this down-to-earth cafe in the middle of King Street's hustle and bustle. read more

As an old town local, it can be hard to come by a solid lunch spot that doesn't feel overpriced and a bit tourist-trappy on King street. King Street Cafe, though... this place feels almost like a NYC bodega with the chill atmosphere and humongous variety of hot/cold sandwiches and wraps, salads, breakfast food, and even smoothies. And let me tell you, the steak and cheese is SO GOOD. I've gotten it with chicken before too, and it is equally lustfully delicious The staff is as authentically warm and friendly as they come. It seems there are lots of regulars like myself, and everyone who comes through the door is treated like a regular, too! Seriously I would be heartbroken if this place didn't exist. Walk in, order from the counter and breakfast is served on styrofoam, with plastic utensils. We were hoping for a place with full service, but stumbled in here. Styrofoam service is not bad, if the tastes are good. Price is right! My over easy eggs were cooked just right, bacon just the right amount of crispy. Located in the old town area of Alexandria this little shop serves a variety of breakfast food options, hot and cold sandwiches, and wraps in addition to providing an array of different smoothies. Prices are fair with the menu items falling below $10. Service is always excellent whenever I've been there and while the staff comprises of only two people they manage to always get your orders out in an expedited manner no matter how packed the shop may get. The food is really good, I've tried a large portion of the menu items but the wraps are my personal favorite. Please stop by and support this place whenever you're in the area. read more

Perfect little deli on King Street. The workers are the absolute best. Misun the owner is so sweet and the workers Yolanda and Doris are always very kind; they all make it a point to know your name. I come here at least one time a week, usually more, since it's a couple blocks from my job. The food is always hot and tasty. A few favorites: bacon breakfast burrito, the BEC breakfast sandwich, steak and cheese sandwich, and the chipotle chicken club. Recently tried the primo hoagie and it was very delicious and exactly what I was craving. You can usually customize your sandwiches to your liking. Food is made quick and they will take pick up orders on the phone. It's a tiny place with only a few small tables inside. Lots of options for a reasonable price. For almost 20 years, this is where the Old Town locals eat. This unpretentious, small business survived the Pandemic because of the support of the "regulars" The ladies know your name, they know your order. That tells me everything I need to know. This review is to express my pure joy, and happiness about finding our new no frills, great food, great service, breakfast spot, (after the one we had frequented for the past 8 years changed hands). I admit the exterior is deceiving, and not as flashy or fancy looking as others in town BUT this, this is THE place I would rather go on any given day. It was fantastic! They open at 8:00! I have eaten many deli-Sandwiches at the King Street Cafe after getting a haircut next door at G for hair. They make a fantastic sandwich too! I never thought to try it for breakfast, until I was shopping this week. I saw one of the shop owners eating a tasty looking breakfast in a take-out box. He said he had been going to the King Street Cafe every morning for years. We checked it out today, we had 2 eggs, toast, home fries, and a breakfast burrito with coffee. Everything was cooked quickly, and tasted fantastic! The breakfast burrito especially had great flavor, and it was a manageable portion. The home fries were great, the eggs and bacon cooked perfectly. I think the cost is very reasonable, the meal was great, and satisfying. We said we would be back, and we will be. I cannot recommend the King Street Cafe enough. If you're visiting, have breakfast, shop and go back for lunch! read more

King Street Cafe is located in Old Town Alexandria, 2 doors down from Alexandria Cupcake and across the street from Sam Phao Thai Cuisine. My husband and I decided to stop by this little cafe for some sandwiches to take with us on our trip back home to Los Angeles the next day. We came in this past Saturday, around 4:35 pm (the place closes at 5 pm). When we came in, we were greeted by an employee behind the counter and a woman, whom I believe is the manager/ owner of this little eatery. After browsing the menu, we ended up getting: Hummus Chicken Wrap, $7.55 prior to tax- Initially I had ordered this sandwich in a pita, but thought a wrap would be easier to eat on the plane. It is the same price if you opt for this to be made in a pita though in case you prefer that. The chicken were pieces that was cooked on the griddle behind the counter. This wrap is packed with lettuce, tomato, bell peppers, mushrooms, alfalfa sprouts and cucumber slices, spread with hummus on the wrap. My wrap was already cut in half when I had unrolled it from the shiny foil. Half of the wrap was more than enough for me (my husband ate the other half). Very filling and a delicious wrap. Hummus Turkey Wrap, $7.55 prior to tax- My husband and I shared this wrap when we arrived back home from our long trip (again this, along with the chicken wrap was consumed the day after these delicious wraps were made). Just like the chicken wrap, this wrap had plenty of vegetables (the exact same) and a spread of hummus. But this wrap had thin turkey slices instead of cooked pieces like the chicken. Cooked pieces of turkey would have been better, but I still enjoyed the wrap. ---------------------------------- (Total= $16.77 after tax) Pricing for our wraps were pretty cheap, especially for the portion. It is nice to find a place where I am not being overly charged for something simple like a sandwich or wrap, in this case. Service was friendly. Wait time wasn't too long. The person I suspected to be the owner had marked which wrap was turkey so that we would know which was which. Inside this little cafe are a handful of tables and chairs. There is also 2 single restrooms inside (the ladies restroom was clean upon this visit). Along with a variety of sandwiches available for purchase, King Street Cafe also sells bibimbap, fruit smoothies (made to order), beef bulgogi rice bowl, burgers and quesadillas. Breakfast is also available until 11:30 am. If I lived in this area, I would be back. read more

Outstanding food, value, and exceptional service and customer interaction. The food is fresh and well seasoned. The southwest wrap is loaded with brown rice and chicken. Definitely a meal to keep you full all day. The egg and sausage burritos are well balanced and are packed delicious sausage. Chicken Quesadilla was filled with grilled onion and soooo much chicken. Stumbled across this place and the 3 stars are for the efficient employees who are quick and friendly however the food is greasy and pricey. For three days in a row I was getting breakfast here as it was the only place I knew of when I started at a new job location. Each day I ordered something different trying to see what was "better" and sure wasn't able to grasp the taste of the breakfast items. I had the chicken breakfast burrito one day (bathe it on hot sauce for flavor. Another day ordered a egg, bacon and cheese with mayo and was a bit messy and greasy and another day ordered the "home fries", found that it was a typical potato cake that you buy by the box at your local grocery store. It's a convenient location for those on King St. However I hate to start my day with the taste of oil and butter which doesn't make for a good start of my day. Can I just say I love this little shop. You can tell from the initial phone call when ordering the food to receiving the food that is had been made with love. These are the sweetest people to do it. And did I mention... the food is super tasty. I usually get the same thing, breakfast, bacon egg and cheese croissant. The croissants are the freshest and the bacon sooo crispy. I often think about this sandwich when I'm at my full time job or on Sundays when they are closed. I will venture out to try more on the menu but I sooo LOVE breakfast. Really nice local deli. Stopped in for lunch, small in size if you want to eat in, but most of their business was to go and there were tables available. There are 3 - 2 tops and 1 - four top for seating. You order at counter, drinks and chips you grab yourself. My sandwich was excellent in taste and the only reason I'm giving them 4 stars was that it could have had more meat. Bread was excellent and seasonings were too, just left still a bit hungry. My family and I were visiting from DC for the day and were in need of a quick lunch spot -- without breaking the bank. We saw King Street Cafe online and it seemed to be a local gem, which we found to be true! The size of the cafe is pretty small, but the menu is surprisingly extensive. We ordered two sandwiches (the royal Turkey & bacon and the Turkey club in sub roll) and two salads (Caesar and a tuna salad). Everything was very fresh, very fast, and very good! My mom said the tuna was particularly fresh, and my sister and I especially liked the pesto Mayo on the royal Turkey sandwich. The prices are very reasonable, especially for lunch, and the breakfast menu looks good too (though we arrived past 11:30 and couldn't order anything from it). I came across this place via Yelp and the glowing reviews and let me tell you - they did not disappoint! I had the chicken gyro and my parents had the steak and cheese sandwich with chips. For what you pay for, you're STUFFED. The owner was really kind as well, chatted with us a bit and let us sit in the back to eat. I worked in Old Town for many years and even now when I'm not in the town I make a special trip to meet the girls and get some great food. Not fancy, just well done deli stuff that is getting so hard to find. They make a nice steak and cheese but their breakfast BLT on croissant is my jam. All of their breakfast stuff is killer as are many of their sandwiches. Breakfast burrito is probably my backup but I can't resist my regular selection. Plus, the staff is great and I don't think I've ever seen them unhappy or frustrated as so many jobs can produce. They remember you and are always super friendly. read more

King Street Cafe is a cute little cafe/deli on King Street in Old Town Alexandria. It seems like delis are a dime a dozen on King Street and in Old Town generally, but this one is one of my favorites for sure. The cafe is really clean, has places to sit (though I got my food to-go), and has a wide selection of sandwiches, sides, and a whole rack of chips. It's a standard deli -- you have your pick of different types of sandwiches, wraps, etc. I ordered a pastrami sandwich (hot) and it was delicious! For just about $6, I had a very filling and satisfying lunch. The service was great and the person taking my order was very friendly. I would certainly visit again. read more
