Balanced but firm: I'm really disappointed with the customer service here. It wasn't just that my order/request was wrong--mistakes happen. It was the attitude when I tried to address it that made the experience frustrating. Instead of trying to fix the issue, staff seemed annoyed and dismissive. This place is not all that it used to be when they first came to town Ontario that is it was nice. The employees were nice, but somehow they let this place run down to the ground outside is not very appealing. They need a gardener the front of the place is always dirty just like their bathrooms. The employees aren't the friendly is. I will stick to their LA location even though I live in Ontario, this place has gone down the hill. This is the only King Taco that offers a variety of items like Caldo, Tinga, and Tostadas which is why it stands out. My go to order is an Asada Burrito, Asada Sope and a Jamaica. I wanted tacos today since it's Taco Tuesday. A colleague and I decided to go to King Taco for lunch. We got a Tinga de Pollo taco, Carne asada taco, sope, and a chicken tamale. All were really good and I was really surprised at how cheap the prices were!! Menu prices were as if they were special deals, or was i back in time... say, 2019 (pre-Covid prices)? The salsas were not spicy... wish it was a lot hotter. Well, my colleague said it was pretty hot but she's a lightweight and thinks paprika is spicy lol!! The place is clean, parking is non-existent (there's like literally 4 spaces). They take an eternity to get you your order (they were probably still harvesting the corn used to make the masa lol). I was really excited to try Kind Taco, especially since my usual taco spot is closed on Mondays. I ordered a carne asada burrito with rice and beans and took it home after a long day. I got there and the slowwww as molasses lady at the register, took her time, chit chatted away with the other ladies and still forgot the lady in front of me wanted a drink. Got to me and was so distracted that I had to repeat myself four or five time. So the phone order is to have your food ready when you get there, you pay and go. King Taco at "Lincoln Heights" might be my favorite location- low key environment (not as busy), good parking, friendly employees, delicious food - Authentic Mexican on the cheap. I read that this location is their original location established in the mid 70s! The crowd here are mixed and hipster-ish. No frills, no fancy food presentation, just delicious authentic Mexican street fare and reliable simple menu: Tacos, Burritos, Sopes, Nachos, Quesadillas, Soups! Combo plates very limited. My favorite has to be the SOPES: Thick pan fried flat corn masa shell topped with light refried bean, protein of choice, cabbage, cotija cheese, and their amazing salsa! They are very stingy on salsa is my only complaint. Am born and raised in Los Angeles, so I will always love King Taco- 5 stars! First time ever at a King Taco. Back in the early 90s when I was quite young, I remember seeing a matchbook with the King Taco logo. The little king with his crown. Fast forward to present day and as I'm driving past, that memory came to mind. And I'm thinking, "Nows your chance to actually go there." Truth be told, it wasn't necessarily special, per say. My family loves this place. Everything is good. We especially enjoy the suadero meat. The place has tons of seating, and the staff is always quick, kind, and courteous. Even being patient and praising me for my awful broken Spanish. The place has a great feel to it as well. It's right off the Main Street so it has a lot going on and a lot of adjacent shopping. But even then you never feel cramped in there because the spacing of seats is perfect. read more

So I know a little about King Taco... I grew-up on Roseview- across the street from the first established King Taco restaurant. There are some things that have changed about King Taco. For one, the menu has expanded; two, the burritos are so much smaller; third, the food is not as fresh! I remember they used to cut the Al Pastor right in front of you--- meat, now, is pre-cut and prepped; lastly, they do not serve your order with relish- it's not the same without the relish. There are several King Taco restaurants in Southern California- the best---and the one that has preserved its authentic original taste and goodness--is still the original King Taco in Cypress Park! The second best is the King Taco off Olympic! Any other King Taco is crap! Those other ones like in Ontario, Pasadena and Pico Rivera do not reflect the OG Cypress Park King Taco. If you have never tried King Taco. I recommend you drive into Cypress Park and enjoy the best one of them all! Great idea to stop-by after a Dodger game! Or hanging out down the street in Highland Park at all the bars!!!! Warning: do not try the nachos! I've never liked them. It just basic theater/movie-type nachos.. yuck! Solid place for Mexican food when all the food carts are closed, but the service is as slow as LA rush hour traffic. But perhaps my judgement is biased since I'm used to running on a New York minute. I came on a weekday afternoon and surprisingly there were quite a few people sitting at King Taco waiting for their food. The ordering process was quick, but it was the waiting for the food that took forever. In fact it took so long that some of the locals told me to stop standing around and to relax and sit to wait for the food. I got the menudo, and a tamale. I had ample time to observe the interior while waiting for my food. It's modest, clean, and spacious. The menu was extensive and there were some options for outdoor seating. In terms of food menudo was amazing! They apparently have menudo every day, which was another added plus. The chewy pieces of tripe in the red chili broth, topped with a squeeze of lime made my taste buds so happy. The broth was so rich, had so much depth and so many layers in terms of flavor. So yes, I'll stop by again for food but not looking forward to the wait time. read more
