Ordered the chicken tacos for lunch today . Chicken was good it was shredded and the tacos were packed however the rice and beans had absolutely no flavor and were so bland I had to ask for another salsa to add some flavor. Salsa was good but very watery, from loooking around, seems like a lot of people ordered the menudo or caldo which seems to be a hit. I only can speak from what my friend told me and he said it's the only decently priced authentic Mexican food in the area. I think prices could be lower for the items they offer. Marielas has the BEST carne asada. We have been going here since 2011 and have never been disappointed. We briefly moved out of state between 2020-2025 and I could not even find a place that came close to their carne asada. For superbowl Sunday, I cheated and ordered 4 carne asada plates to use in my nachos at home. I was reminded of how well this place does carne asada. It's bits of actual steak and that flavor comes through, instead of other carne asada which doesn't taste grilled, but more pan cooked. I haven't observed their grill, but whenever I hear the cook banging the knife against the meat on the cutting board, I know I'm going to get the best carne asada. Ventured here for the first time and ordered the taquito plate. It was a very reasonable price. They did get my order wrong and but beans in the box. I did not know till I got home. Everything freshly made, well seasoned and the burritos were even throughout with rice, beans and meat. This place is wonderful! I've lived down the street from Mariela's for almost three years now and have tried just about everything on the menu - all of it has been really tasty. To me the standouts are the fried mojarra, the fried chicken, anything with carne asada, and especially THE COSIDO!!! Everything I've had here has been delicious, but the cosido is really incredible. This isn't a fancy restaurant but their food is legit. Price is very reasonable. Salsa is so flavorful, both red and green. Their chips are super crunchy and also flavorful. Bomb tacos for a low price. Where else in LA could you get 3 tacos, rice and beans for $5? The taco trucks aren't even that cheap. Warning: this place is about as evangelical christian as they come. My roommate described it has one of the best burritos he's had. Marielas serves an amazing burrito, but for $.50 more you can make it WET which tastes 10 times better.
