    Chilaquiles con tamales

The tamales are so tender and juicy. I got mine with chiliquiles with was so good. I love their house fried chips and the red sauce. Service is quick and the place is super casual. Small but mighty restaurant that serves a lot of guests quickly.

To the left cheese and jalapeño to right pineapple.

Today I went in the morning to get three tamales, one cheese and jalapeño, pineapple and chicken tamale. The tamales are horrible , SUPER DRY! I tried the cheese and pineapple and didn't want to try the chicken , that's how horrible the tamales are! I am Mexican and don't approve ! The Champurado was the only good thing aside from the customer service. I want a refund ! Worst tamales ever!

Absolutely love Lupita's Tamales! Brought a friend for her first time to get a dozen to go! Delighted that afternoon on a Friday there was still a full selection to choose from with Sunday being the Festival of Candelaria! Always buy a little extra for the following day to dice up and mix with scrambled eggs for a delicioso desayuno!

I'll admit, I'm not a big tamale fan but a friend of mine raved about this place so I stopped in to pick up some for game day. Lupita's is in a shopping complex, and the prices are reasonable. I got a variety: chicken, pork, and cheese & jalapeño. The chicken was mixed with Salsa Verde and the beef & pork had Salsa Roja. The cheese tamale contained a generous amount of cheese & jalapeño. The masa was moist. It tasted authentic and freshly made. The tamales are big, and I like that there was more filling than masa. My family loved the meat tamales. *Parking in the shopping complex.

Great tasting tamales! These tamales are very moist and flavorful. They have a variety of options to choose from as well as plates of food. They are cheaper when purchased by the dozen instead of individually. There tamales range from $2.73- $4.10 per piece. This place is busy for lunch as many people tend to order their plates of food. Chicken Tamale- 10/10 Moist and has a tasty salsa verde. Beef Tamale- 10/10 Tasted great but does have a kick as it is filled with salsa. Cheese Tamale- 8/10 Standard cheese tamale. Pork Tamale- 8/10 Super saucy and has a lot of flavor. Corn Tamale- 9/10 Tasty and needs to be eaten fresh. Definitely a place to grab some tamales for the holidays. Be sure to call to place an order as they tend to run out of certain tamales by lunch time.

    Some good salsas.

Portions were great for sharing, and the sauces really tied everything together. Service was friendly and our server checked in on us throughout the night without making us feel rushed. Cute building with lovely patio seating: from the trailing hanging pothos plants, Spanish tiles, to relaxing latin-house music the vibes were welcoming. I'm not much of a drinker though, when asked if I wanted to make my pina colada a "float" I thought incorrectly about ice cream. It was graciously explained that you take an additional shot of rum and float it on top of the drink or mix in to make it extra boozy. The pina colada is top notch they hollow out a real pineapple to make the drink and it's the size of your face! The watermelon cocktail was delicious and there is also a mezcal option. Tasted like if a watermelon aqua Fresca was combined with a margarita, there is a hint of salt that brings out the fruit sweetness. We special ordered a bunch of different proteins and vegetables at half portions to make a feast: Aguachile- Light refreshing starter, kanpachi perfectly marinated and great for the summer heat. Crispy potato- Phenomenally done fingerling potatoes. Whipped beans- Carnitas on top made this dish. Fried chicken tacos- Found the chicken slightly on the dry side, if there was a creamy/thicker sauce would be even better... nothing wrong with flavor, good mild heat. I did enjoy the fresh shredded cabbage and carrots, reminded me of bahn mi. Empanadas- Loved the acidity of the sauce that cut through the fattiness of the ground meat. Light shell. Crispy Squash flower- Delicate crunch, like an angelic version of a jalapeno popper. Lamb chops- Definition of "treat-yourself" luxurious meat lollipops. Celery salad- Simple dish but the lemon flavor and tartness really helped break up the richness of other dishes. Churros- Light crunch and small, petite dessert. The thin caramel sauce is addicting. Fine dining, for those special occasions or if you just want to splurge for a morale boost highly recommend this restaurant. Valet parking or park across the street or around the corner in a lot for $5-10.

Located between Koreatown and Pico-Union, this restaurant delivers an outstanding dining experience from the moment you're seated. My wife and I both ordered the Mole Coloradito with chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. One detail we really appreciated was being able to choose between white meat or dark meat--a thoughtful touch that lets you customize your meal to your preference. The mole was rich, complex, and full of flavor, exactly what you would hope for from a restaurant known for its Oaxacan specialties. As a welcome appetizer, they bring fresh chips and salsa to the table, but what really impressed us was when they replaced the salsa with their incredible mole sauce. It was so good we found ourselves dipping everything into it. Both meals were served with rice that was perfectly cooked with a great consistency and flavor. For those feeling adventurous, give the Chapulines (grasshoppers) a try. They may sound intimidating, but they were surprisingly enjoyable and added to the authentic experience. The staff was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and patient with those of us who are not fluent in Spanish. Their hospitality made us feel comfortable and welcomed throughout our visit. Great food, authentic flavors, and wonderful service make Guelaguetza a restaurant we'll definitely be returning to. Highly recommended!

The booths had huge pillows that made them surprisingly comfortable and inviting. They also have a huge selection of alcohol, including plenty of mezcal options. Parking is available through street parking, valet, or a nearby lot for $9. Salsa Molcajete -- $7 The portion was smaller than I expected, but the spice level was just right. The salsa had a very smooth consistency and came with a good amount of tortillas. The tortillas were thin and crispy, which I really enjoyed. Aguachile de Camarón -- $18 A good variety of ingredients came with the aguachile, including red onion, cucumber, tomato, and radish. Each added a different flavor and texture, which made the dish more interesting. It leaned a little sweet for my taste, but the shrimp itself was cooked perfectly with a great texture. Daisy's Branzino -- $28 The branzino was a little smaller than expected, but this ended up being my favorite dish. The greens on the side added a nice freshness, while the crispy skin gave the fish a great texture. The guacamole was also a really good addition and elevated the dish. It was slightly on the salty side, but overall, the flavors worked really well together. Carne a la Parrilla -- $58 We ordered the steak medium and it came out cooked to perfection. The meat was tender with a good amount of char flavor, and the accompanying sauce paired really well with it. The flaky salt on top was a particularly nice touch and added just the right amount of seasoning. Virgin Horchata Pretty standard horchata and nothing particularly unique. It had a heavier cinnamon flavor, which was nice if you enjoy cinnamon-forward horchata. Virgin Jamaica & Mango This was much more refreshing. It tasted very fresh, almost like the flavors came directly from the fruit and plants themselves. Definitely my favorite of the two non-alcoholic drinks. Overall, Mirate is definitely worth checking out for the atmosphere and presentation. The outdoor seating is beautiful and comfortable, and while some of the portions were smaller than expected, the quality and flavors of the food were generally very good. The Daisy's Branzino and Carne a la Parrilla were my standouts.
