My wife and I just flew back into LA and needed to pick up our dogs, but first we needed to curve the hunger that was taking over us, and that lead us to King Torta on the East Side. We've driven by this place before but it doesn't really stand out much, but when you want a sandwich and see the word torta, it's destiny. The menu here features a bunch of different taco, torta, quesadillas, burritos, and all the other classics you expect from a Mexican restaurant. I ended up ordering a torta with carnitas and it only took like 4 minutes to make and get it to me. Now, I've always been a pretty simple person to please with a torta as they are usually big and packed with ingredients. This was somehow the most disappointing and lackluster torta I've ever had. The carnitas were boring and lacked any sort of flavour, while the rest of the sandwich together just didn't hit. This was a boring sandwich that I didn't enjoy eating. Overall, King Torta was a disappointment and not somewhere I'll be revisiting in the future. The sopes are delicious too but I'm biased for the tortas cause the bolillo is just amazing! Never too busy here either and the food comes out pretty fast! Went in for a breakfast burrito and was told they only have 1 kind which is beans, eggs and chorizo. Nothing else. I got it and it's pretty good, just kinda weird to have a burrito with such a soft flimsy consistency since it's just soft ingredients inside. No cheese, nothing else to firm it up. Quick service own parking lot large portions King Torta has been there for years. Great food and reasonable prices if you are looking for the Taj Mahal of restaurants, it's not here. You go up to the counter order and go to a table. It's probably been there since the beginning. This place is cleaned, but not fancy. I feel safe in the area, but for some people they may be uncomfortable in this part of town. The parking lot is dark and the restaurant is somewhat isolated. Just be aware of your surroundings when we were last there, we met people that had come as far away as Orange County just to have the food we came also from about 40 miles away so it is a place that I've been to a lot and enjoy going to Lunch and dinner are the same prices good burritos, and torta Don't forget to ask for salsa and remember this is not a wimpy pico de gallo. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. The young kid that works there with longish dark hair needs to learn how to show respect and take accountability for his mess up. Came with some people who had frequented King Torta many years ago, and used to be regulars. Food: Carne Asada Torta // French Fries Fluffy telera bread filled with carne asada, beans, lettuce, and the smallest pieces of avocado possible. The telera bread is other worldly, its powdery on the outside and soft on the inside. The asada itself was pretty meek in my opinion, as it was on the drier side. Overall it was kind of just a meh torta, with the bread being the best thing. The french fries were actually pretty good. Nice and crispy, not much more you can ask for. Restaurant / Service: Inside there is plenty of tables to easily accommodate groups of 2-4. The parking lot is a little tight and tricky, but it was not too hard to navigate. So we love King Torta and for this past year. The tortas have been back on track. Living up to the King part. But yesterday the torta shrunk down alot. Definitely not a King.
