My wife and I just flew back into LA and needed to pick up our dogs, but first we needed to curve the hunger that was taking over us, and that lead us to King Torta on the East Side. We've driven by this place before but it doesn't really stand out much, but when you want a sandwich and see the word torta, it's destiny. I ended up ordering a torta with carnitas and it only took like 4 minutes to make and get it to me. Now, I've always been a pretty simple person to please with a torta as they are usually big and packed with ingredients. This was somehow the most disappointing and lackluster torta I've ever had. The carnitas were boring and lacked any sort of flavour, while the rest of the sandwich together just didn't hit. This was a boring sandwich that I didn't enjoy eating. Overall, King Torta was a disappointment and not somewhere I'll be revisiting in the future. I've been going to King Torta for years since I was a kid and this place has always been my go-to! The tortas are amazing, and I never get tired of coming. The sopes are delicious too but I'm biased for the tortas cause the bolillo is just amazing! Never too busy here either and the food comes out pretty fast! Worst customer service I've ever experienced. The young kid that works there with longish dark hair needs to learn how to show respect and take accountability for his mess up. I told him my order yet he messed it up and gave me a whole other burrito and meat which I would never eat. My coworker was there to vouch for it. As I realized the meat wasn't what I asked for, I went to tell him and showed him, yet checked my receipt and he had put the wrong burrito and meat. He even had the nerve to ask, me to pay the difference since he didn't charge me the correct burrito since the cooks had told him. He was very nonchalant with his facial expression with no accountability what so ever not even apologizing for what he had done but had the nerve to tell me he needs to charge me a difference since it wasn't what he had given me. As for the cooks, they all looked at me as if I was wrong or making this up. Never again will I eat at this place. Food wasn't even as good as it was back 10 years ago so I'm sure it might be new management but if it's not. You definitely need to change up your workers. Went in for a breakfast burrito and was told they only have 1 kind which is beans, eggs and chorizo. Nothing else. I got it and it's pretty good, just kinda weird to have a burrito with such a soft flimsy consistency since it's just soft ingredients inside. No cheese, nothing else to firm it up. Food is absolutely delicious! Tried the hard shell tacos and the shredded beef was juicy and tender. Salsas were delicious as was the guacamole. They're generously topped with lettuce and cheese which essentially leaves you with a mini salad lol. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is the fact that almost every table both inside and outside were dirty despite it not being that busy which means they leave messes on tables for a while after people leave. Now a second thing is that although I know technical difficulties can't be predicted their credit card machine was down when we went and my friend told me it happens a little too often that it's just so inconsistent to not know when it'll be cash only or not. read more

Came with some people who had frequented King Torta many years ago, and used to be regulars. Food: Carne Asada Torta // French Fries Fluffy telera bread filled with carne asada, beans, lettuce, and the smallest pieces of avocado possible. The telera bread is other worldly, its powdery on the outside and soft on the inside. The asada itself was pretty meek in my opinion, as it was on the drier side. Overall it was kind of just a meh torta, with the bread being the best thing. The french fries were actually pretty good. Nice and crispy, not much more you can ask for. Restaurant / Service: Inside there is plenty of tables to easily accommodate groups of 2-4. The parking lot is a little tight and tricky, but it was not too hard to navigate. Notes: The people I went with were kind of disappointed. They mentioned that "back in the day" King Torta reigned supreme and that the tortas were much better. read more

So we love King Torta and for this past year. The tortas have been back on track. Living up to the King part. But yesterday the torta shrunk down alot. Definitely not a King. I love the flavor and tenderness of the carne asada, but what really sets this place apart from others is the bread. The bread is freshly baked and it is so soft and chewy. The torta also comes with some beans, slices of avocado, chopped onions and cilantro. It is so good with their red hot sauce. You can also ask for pickled carrots and onions for free. To drink, I always go with the horchata. It is so creamy, sweet and refreshing. I've had other items here before such as nachos, hard shell tacos and fish tacos. All are pretty good too, but what keeps me coming back is the torta. I just hope that they stop increasing the price. Each torta is currently $11.95 each, which is more expensive than other places.
