I get CCC often because I work nearby - while DTLA can be chaotic, the line to pick up the order rarely is. There is always someone standing outside to manage the line; as soon as I pull up, someone comes to the window to ask my name to grab my order. First off, this spot has no tables just a few benches where you can sit and wait for your order. Orders are taken by a staff member who walks around, which is a bit different. The sandwich was generously sized, but unfortunately it lacked flavor. I requested no mayo, and without it the sandwich tasted very bland; no salt, pepper, or noticeable seasoning. Sandwiches are also made with chicken breast meat, not fried or grilled. They do offer ranch on the side, but since the sandwich is cold, it mostly just tastes like ranch rather than enhancing the overall flavor. They also offer the same items in bowl form. I ordered through DoorDash. The Chinese Chicken Salad is good; it's all in the dressing (I ordered a bottle). They also add pasta to the salad, not sure why, it doesn't add anything to the salad. If I order again, I would remove the pasta. The Roasted Chicken is very flavorful and juicy, although for the price, I should have received better pieces. The food is good, but the price difference between CCC and DoorDash is insane. I would think they would offer better prices because we have to pay service fees and tip through DoorDash. He was incredibly kind, welcoming, attentive, and genuinely went above and beyond to make sure I had a great experience. Javi even blessed me with some water as it was very hot outside, which was incredibly generous. It wasn't just the food -- it was the way he treated me as a customer and all the other customers. Let me just start with the staff because they are excellent to deal with whether it's a quick one person order or a big catering order; they're always so accommodating and pleasant and professional. The food. It's actually a fairly limited menu, but It's always fresh and the right temperature for whatever it is that you ordered. Wow the food here is really good. The rice wrap and the ranch wrap were delicious. The chicken was moist and the wrap tasted really fresh. The chipotle dressing is one of my new favorite salad dressings. It's so good. Pasta salad with broccoli is also delicious. There isn't too much mayo. This is a pick up place. So there is no ambiance. This is my go to for a healthy/salad option. they do put pasta in all their salads, which you can delete. Ahhhhh California Chicken Café has me mesmerized. I love their food so much, but their locations are so sketch. My dream is for them to open a location in Irvine-area for me to enjoy to my heart's content. This location is in Downtown LA where parking is scarce and the streets smell questionable. Worst of all, apparently they are no longer allowing dine-in, despite having the space for interior and exterior seating. TAKE OUT ONLY. Service was nice, and they let us use the restaurant while waiting for our food. The food was actually prepared really quickly. An improved experience compared to what I encountered at Westwood. I really love California Chicken Cafe cause it feels healthy enough. My boyfriend can get something filling and substantial while I can pick something healthier and light. My boyfriend had his usual Melrose Wrap ($12.75) which comes with chicken, avocado, white cheddar, cheese, greens, tomato, mayo, side Italian dressing. I had their Green Goddess Salad ($13.50), which comes with lettuce, spinach, avocado, purple cabbage, radish, cucumber, sprouts, lemon, sourdough crouton, and 4oz green goddess dressing. I also added Hot Dark Rotisserie Chicken ($4.50) cause it didn't come with protein as a default. Since we couldn't eat it there like we originally planned, we had to take it home. Sigh. Hungry. But when we got home, we were surprised with 2 cute containers that said "Eats on Us" with 2 small pieces of bone-in rotisserie chicken each. So nice! Honestly this sweet touch of good service really bumped up their rating for me. My meal was MAGNIFICENT. I really love this salad. It is fit for a goddess like me, just kidding.
