5/30/26. My first time here to this cute place located in a strip mall. Warm rolls were served upon seating, but I wish they had some garlic knots. I wanted a few changes to my entree and my server wasn't thrilled to accommodate until I said I never had an issue. Meatball parm hero was great and the chicken sorrentino was fine. 4.5 I've seen people talk about Venere, and decided to give it a try for my Dad's birthday dinner. They were very accommodating with reservations and changing them. To be honest my first reaction was , uh oh did I make a mistake?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were shown into the dining room which is simple, but the walls are adorned with lovely photos of Italy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff was charming and our waiter was super personable. We decided on some carafes of the house wine and it was so enjoyable. I'd order it again, any time. They brought the most delicious warm bread and butter to the table and I had to stop myself from eating it so I left room for the other food. We then started with some appetizers for the table. The hot antipasto included baked clams, shrimp oreganata and eggplant rollatini. The eggplant was well made, but the stars were the perfectly cooked and seasoned shrimp and the delicious baked clams. The Seafood Salad was beyond excellent. It was loaded with shrimp, clams, calamari, arugula and red onions, tossed in a light dressing. They really know how to work with seafood here. The Italian egg rolls were stuffed with pepperoni, mozzarella and sausage and were very good. On to the main courses. Portions are more manageable vs other locations, and all well made. The Frutti Di Mare over spaghetti was wonderful and again, the seafood cooked perfectly. The Chicken Marsala was an excellent version. The Veal Francese was super lemony and quite good, although it felt a bit heavy and buttery. There was a special of a pork chop Milanese topped with prosciutto, arugula and burata and it was scrumptious. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. The dessert menu is a platter with a sample of each dessert. They have the standard tartufo and lemon sorbet, but I was excited about the homemade desserts they offered. The tiramisu, the creme brulee and the Italian Cheesecake were all perfection. I usually don't leave bad reviews, but the host really messed things up. We walked in with five people and asked for a bigger table for six, explaining we'd be ordering a lot for a tasting before a repast. He said no, claiming people were coming, even though the place was totally empty. The waiter tried to help, but the host came back while we were still deciding and made it worse by saying, "If you want the table, let's go before someone else takes it." It was the tone in which he said it, and if that was the case, why didn't he just seat us there to begin with? I've never felt so disrespected, especially when you're looking to hold a repast for 40+ people who are trying to mourn a loved one. read more

Came here yesterday for a work holiday lunch. We were served family style, and the food was excellent! We started off with freshly made bread, a garden salad and a Caesar salad, followed by a chicken primavera type pasta and a penne à la vodka. The penne a la vodka was outstanding. We had chicken franchese and eggplant Parmesan. I have to say, I think it was the best eggplant Parmesan I've ever had in my life. It was so fresh and if I wasn't completely stuffed by this time, I would've went in for more. The meal was ended off with tiramisu and a lemon cheesecake. The lemon cheesecake was definitely my favorite of the two. Once the party was over, my friend and I grabbed an espresso martini at the bar and it was made with freshly brewed espresso and it was fabulous . The three of us were back and all of us enjoyed our meals. This time I tried a special: short ribs with fettuccini ($26). Loved the short ribs (as soft as flanken) and sauce, but the fettuccini wasn't very fresh - it stuck together and was hard in several spots (had to spit those into my napkin). No other problems. I didn't have high hopes for this place but it had good reviews so I thought to give it a try for LI Restaurant Week. It's located in a small strip mall. Staff were friendly when we arrived. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor was classic Italian decor. It had a fresco of "The Birth of Venus" dominating a wall[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The bread came out screaming hot. The butter came out room temperature which made it so easy to spread on the hot bread. Many times I have struggled with frozen butter. We ordered the Caesar's salad, Italian egg roll, chicken mederia and pork brocolia. The egg rolls were delicious with the oozing cheese. I didn't get a strong flavoring of pepperoni. Lovely crispy outside. The pork brocolia was amazing. It was melt in your mouth tender. The sauce wasn't too acidic but it had a nice tang. The pasta was cooked Al dente but I prefer a more tender pasta so I let it sit a little. It was just right for me after a little while. The chicken mederia was tender. The mash potatoes were nice and creamy. Every thing came out very hot. Many a time I've had pasta served warm because tomato gravy cools very quickly. Clemente our server was so friendly and funny. His recommendation of the specials were spot on. We had the steak which we normally dont order at an Italian restaurant but it was tender and cooked perfectly. We also had the veal parmigiana which was so tasty and a huge portion that I had to take it home. We also had the veal chop which was good and the pasta with broccoli rabe and sun dried tomatoes. Both of those dishes were too much for one ditto and we ended up taking that home too. We ended the meal with espressos and delicious dessert. I was there with a large group and I will say there were some highlights: antipasto was very good, the pasta was good, and the cookies were good. Everything else was disappointing and for $55/a person, I felt we should have had more food. I left hungry and who ever heard of that from an Italian restaurant! There was no abundanza. It's been awhile since I've been here but always a favorite in the neighborhood. This time I decided to try something different and I got the chicken cardinale. Absolutely delicious lightly breaded chicken and a marsala sauce with eggplant tomato mozzarella cheese. Felt very light and didn't feel heavy when I was finished. I wish more people in the neighborhood would come out here and even then some traveling to the neighborhood it's right on Carmen Avenue right off the Wantagh Highway. This is a fabulous restaurant very family oriented and inviting. They recently did a remodeling the last couple years and it looks absolutely beautiful. Went for my mother in laws birthday dinner with our family. Calamari and mozzarella and tomato were very good. I like mozzarella cut thinner but it had nice fresh basil shredded on top.. Definitely a clean fry on calamari. Our salad was a nice mix. Very crisp and fresh. My Aperol spritz was delicious with a nice slice of orange. I had the filet of fish which melted in my mouth. Highly recommend the fish. My husband had a pork over mashed potatoes he said it was a little fatty. My daughter had grilled chicken with broccoli rabe and garlic, very good. Others ordered chicken parmigiana and fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. We had mousse dessert, cannoli and cheesecake which were very good. I had never been to Venere but my brother and sister-in-law love the food there so we went ( from Huntington) for a casual family birthday dinner. Loved the basket of yummy, soft, hot rolls brought to the table. We tried the waiter's recommendation for a sampler appetizer. Nicely cooked butterflied shrimp, stuffed clams, sweet and not too bready and an eggplant rollatini that was light and saucy. It was a nice beginner. My go-to in a new restaurant is the eggplant parm. It tells me if I want to come back. Venere's is divine. Less cheese would be better for me but the eggplant itself was perfect. Not so thin that you could not taste it or so thick that it was like a stew. The coating was light and not at all oily or thick and gummy . So good. The branzino on broccoli rabe and shrimp the rest of the fam had was really really good too. Generous portions meant we each brought some home. We finished with some house made desserts. Creme Brule like silk and a tiramisu that was light and luscious. What a nice, nice meal. And the kitchen put a birthday candle in the tiramisu-nice low key touch. No singing, thank god. I wish it were closer to my house but I will go back. It is worth the 25 min drive. read more

Drinks were yummy and there were a good amount of options there as well. We've not been here in a couple of years, but always wanted to. So glad we did. The staff is so welcoming, especially Ryan and Rosie. We met Ryan at the door. So friendly and accommodating. Rosie was our waitress. She's not only an expert at her job, but she has the most amazing sense of humor! I will always ask for her. The clams are so fresh and delicious. The little necks are just that, little. I love that. They're Briny and tender and oh so good. The clams oreganato are delicious as well. We enjoyed the shrimp fra Diablo as well as the eggplant parm. I am appalled by the service that my family member received after dealing with a death in the family. They were overcharged for a funeral luncheon. Nothing was mentioned about a minimum number of guests. Nothing was mentioned when they arrived and the only compensation that was offered was gift cards if my family member was to take down the bad review. How is that ethical?! My family used to come here all of the time, even did my bridal shower there, but never again! I would never visit an establishment that is only concerned with the money. Have some compassion for a family who just lost a beloved family member. What is this was your family? Wouldn't you want some compassion too? Update: be compassionate to the family. You took advantage and were not clear about the situation. My aunt was not the one who called and screamed at you. The issue was not addressed properly at your establishment. Another family member had to intervene after the fact. My aunt was the one who was taken advantage of during a difficult time for the family. I am moving on but I don't want other people to be taken advantage of like our family was. Love how the owner gets so defensive. It's always the customer's fault and never the restaurant's. Read through the other reviews. Anything bad, it is the customers fault. I would like you to be compassionate to a family who just lost a loved one. I just hate seeing a neighborhood restaurant turn around and act so poorly against the neighbors you serve. I'm sure you will be able to sell your food to other patrons. Why don't you focus on your customers in the restaurant rather than respond to me repeatedly? I'm moving on and will not waste any additional time with this establishment. The restaurant is in a strip mall, this is only a restaurant, not a pizzeria, they do have pizza on the menu you have to order pies to be brought to your table or you can order pies to go, there are no slices available at the counter,,,Alex was Absolutely outstanding, very attentive. He was very knowledgeable of the menu. Everything we ordered was prepared and cooked. Exactly how we wanted it. My favorite was the Saint Peter's fish cooked in a light lemon sauce, it was nice and flaky and delicious, I also love their Italian eggrolls for appetizer, loaded with melted mozzarella cheese, and the marinara dipping sauce,, they have a full-service bar, if you like, The veal chop was cooked to perfection, the restaurant, since 1979 it's known for its spaghetti and meatballs, I met a few older patrons who are on their way back to Florida, but always stop by when they're in town, Their entire weight staff was very attentive and friendly, prices are reasonable portions are very good, I like the idea that they do have whole wheat penne as a substitution, and for the main course meals, you can choose between salad, or various pastas read more

Looks and feels like an Italian villa back a bit in time, with a restful peaceful ambiance. Brick is exposed, beautiful artworks abound and light breezy drapes enhance the mood. Yes it's romantico! Soothing Italian music surrounds you, while you ponder some bottled water straight from the source: Rome. A very special and lovely bread basket is presented with warm fresh baked Italian bread and garlic knots. We settled on the Zuppa di Pesce for two with lobster tail. You get a nice big firm tail plus mouth watering jumbo shrimps, plenty of big clams and mussels in the shell and heaps of calamari and scungilli! In a light but richly flavored broth-we chose the red and glad of it. Dipping chunks of lobster in there was heavenly. This is a kingly feast and well worth the price. We had a substantial amount to take home, too! You must get it with linguine. Just add on a salad if you must have your greens. So even though we were full, the Affogato dessert special sounded so good my husband couldn't pass it up. It was beyond delicious, I had a taste. I got a lemon sorbet which was served in a hollowed out lemon! Awesome presentation is just another positive about Venere. Staff members were excellent, as in warm and friendly, well-spoken, neat and polished, knowledgeable, polite and genuine. Shout out to Chris who made us feel so welcome on this first visit and knew everything there was to know about choices, ingredients and options.
