A definitely reliable Chinese take-out in Western Astoria. I am addicted to their Singapore Mei Fun. Always ordering it not too oily and it comes perfectly sprinkled with curry powder and all the shredded veggies, shrimps, egg strips and cha siu (roasted pork) you would expect. Just ordered food the lady was very rude and couldn't understand any type of English and blamed me for not saying the order correctly completely disrespectful. I came in to get a quick lunch to go after passing it so many times and I highly regret it. First of all, the person taking my order was very rude to me to the point that she was yelling at me. After that frustrating ordeal, I picked up my order, the chicken and broccoli and the yung chow fried rice. When I sat down back at my workplace to eat, only 10 minutes later, the chicken was dry and the broccoli was a disgusting puke green color, definitely not fresh. Then after opening the yung chow fried rice, it was like they had dumped a cup of oil in it while cooking thus making it taste completely disgusting. I ended up throwing it out. This place is a complete waste of time and money. This is my go to Chinese food delivery place I ordered from their at least a hundred times and they never disappoint they always have the correct order the food arrives within 20 minutes of the time you placed the order it comes piping hot and full of flavor the xo sauce dumplings are outstanding very thin skin dumpling not the thick doughy kind and if you spend over $10 you get your choice of an egg roll soda or soup the only thing that I would change is the food is not as spicy as I would like it but that's why I have my sirriocha on stand bye but I'm a spice head so don't let that deter you read more

There are good take out Chinese food places and there bad take out Chinese food places. This place is a definite bad take out Chinese. Do your self a favor and go to the take out across the street. Fast delivery. Cheap. Order was correct. They have a wider variety on the menu than most take out Chinese places that aren't in Chinatown. The food is not good. I ordered sesame chicken, it was Soggy and chewy, I usually like it a little crispy. The broccoli must have gone bad but was used anyway. The shrimp with lobster sauce had pieces of gelatinous stuff in it, I think it must be the base of most of their sauces. Had no lobster flavor at all. Don't trust the food!!! So I have been going to King Wah for years and love their food. Yesterday on 1/26/19 I called and placed an order to be picked up. When I get to the restaurant there was confusion where my order was. They figured it out when someone called that had my order mistakenly delivered. Their order was at the restaurant. They charged my credit card $18.20. They said there was a mix up and I need to wait for my food. So as I sat waiting the lady gets on the phone with the customer and said I am sending Back the delivery guy to you to bring your food and give them the food you got. So I am thinking they are making me a new order. Not so much. The delivery guy came and they took the food in the back to check it and then came to the front and said your food is ready. I said is that the same food that was sent to the person on the phone. They lied to my face and said no. I said I hope not because I don't want to get sick. They said this is clean food don't worry. I took the food. When I checked the food the styrofoam container was stapled twiced, you can see someone opened it and they stapled it again. I know 100% this food was the same that went to someone else. I am spending money at this restaurant with the assumption the food is safe and if they can do this to me I can only imagine what else happens here. I didn't fight to get a refund and they never refunded me either. I threw the food in the garbage and they saw. Just goes to show you they care more about making a buck than people. I have been a faithful customer for a long time, but one day I ordered food, and then they gave me a wrong item, and she said "it is your fault",. I said it is ok, and paid for the item, and reordered the correct one, on the phone again. I have never got it. My husband and I always order from here because this is the only one place which takes credit card. But every time we call, the Chinese lady who answer the phone is very very rude and always rushing us. She even says that " Hurry up, I'm busy with customers!" What does she think we are? Used to order from this place all the time because it's right around the corner from me and the quality was fairly good. However, the food has gone downhill and I also can no longer take the rudeness of the lady who works at the counter. I usually don't have to worry about it unless I have an issue with my food. Anytime there is something wrong with your order she'll blame you and refuses to either refund you your money or make it right. Last time I ordered 3-4 items through seamless (1 item being a shrimp roll) and there were 2 small pieces of shrimp in it (I thought they gave me a veggie roll by accident). I asked seamless if I could get a refund on the item. Next thing you know I'm getting a phone call from the lady GOING OFF on me asking me if I expected 100 pieces of shrimp in the roll and how she refuses to refund me (which I already knew because seamless had told me this...mind you they gave me a $5 credit because they're awesome). This isn't the first time I've heard her berate customers too as I've seen it numerous times when picking up from the restaurant too. I've recently moved to Astoria and have been searching for a local Chinese place since I got here. I've tried some of the other "higher" rated restaurants on yelp for Chinese, but was not satisfied. New King Wah on the other hand is my go to take-out now! The food is great, the staff is super friendly and very willing to customize your order. I'm super picky when it comes to fruits and vegetables and New King Wah didn't mind at all! They just said "No problem, tell me which ones you want!" They have everything I look for in a great Chinese place and have never messed up or forgotten anything in my orders. I have no idea where these other people are coming up with these negative reviews? I'm also not sure why people are saying the staff is rude, they've always been extremely friendly and appreciative to my husband and I, and by the way they do speak English. If had a rude and disrespectful customer I would pretend not to speak English too. A little bit of kindness goes a long way, they are open way later than most restaurants usually are too, so another huge bonus for a night owl like myself.
