It kills me to give this review but it's not because the taste because everything was really very good. Their egg rolls are probably the best around! I got their Mongolian Beef (or Mongolian onion) This is my dish- I mean I get this every time I go for Chinese somewhere. There shouldn't be any white onion in this at all. This was 3/4 all white onion! Chinese places do this to save a dime but really it is just going to piss people off. The place we usually get our Chinese from in Naperville is probably double the price but there is NO white onion. Only green onion and a few bamboo shoots. I would have went back with this but considering the price and I did get a meal out of it. The rest was thrown out. The beef was fantastic! Chinese places are all over here and there's a few in West Chicago. It depends on which one you go to, but this one is okay for something in a strip mall. King Wok 59 has a lot of interesting menu items and familiar ones. Food comes out fast. The prices are good on most things. A pretty good item isn't even one that's Chinese actually. I'm talking about the Mongolian Tofu. True that it's a country next to China, so it's not far off either way. It's about $9 for a pretty big amount. This is full of broccoli, onions, and other vegetables. Maybe the sauce is the best part. This is spicy and sweet. It's not authentic. This is still good so whatever. Good prices on most items. My go-to place for Chinese takeout in West Chicago. The woman who works there is very nice and remembers you if you are a regular. The past year I've mainly ordered via delivery, especially during the winter season. I believe if you are in their delivery radius the fee is only $2.50. I always call to place an order. I appreciate that there's never a language barrier and my order and address is always understood. The restaurant is pretty good at giving you an estimated wait time. Sometimes they are very busy and it can take up to 45 minutes, however the food is usually delivered in a reasonable amount of time. I typically order a lunch special (general tso or sesame chicken with fried rice + eggroll) and fried potstickers. Including a tip, I get can eat well for less than $20. The food is average takeout quality, although their shrimp egg rolls are pretty tasty. I haven't really explored their menu beyond my usual lunch staples, but I wouldn't be hesitant to try if the opportunity came. This is typically my experience when buying food to TAKE HOME. The restaurant itself is very tiny and I don't recommend expecting to eat inside unless you don't mind small spaces. read more

True Life: I'm Addicted To Chinese Food ...but seriously. This place is great! I recently placed a huge to-go order here with my mom, aunt, and two sisters after an intense (exhausting) day of shopping. We got two kinds of fried rice (chicken and shrimp), general tso chicken, chicken lo mein, orange chicken, and sweet and sour chicken (why are we psychos for chicken?). All very good! As a friend of mine was finishing up her order, she gave her phone number (has a different area code) and the woman asked if she was calling the correct location. That was pretty irritating. The food is just so/so. Not the best but not the worst. There's so many choices out there for Chinese. If you want something quick and pretty cheap, get this. I've been a regular customer for years and my all time favorite meals to order are the shrimp Lomein and the crab Rangoons! For a small business i was quite impressed. I have to warn you though, don't order their shrimp egg rolls since literally, they only add 2 baby shrimps in each roll! Also, for each meal that you order, they give you two hot sauces, if you want more you'll have to pay 25cents per each, the problem I have with this is that I order a lot of food and they still have that 2 hot sauces stupid rule. Let me start off by saying that my fervor for Chinese food could be summed up as "disgusting and borderline obsessive", so naturally I felt the need to review King Wok. I love this place! I always choose their orange chicken special which comes with rice and an eggroll (you can choose a can of pop [or a cup of soup if you're dining in] instead). Daily lunch specials are delicious and very inexpensive considering how much food you get. Their styrofoam containers have been stapled shut on occasion due to the fact that they pack it to the brim with yumminess which is perfectly acceptable for a glutton like myself... I may come back to expand my review even further but I'm actually heading out to place an order at King's right now. I can't wait. Note: This place is pretty cozy and only has 4 tables. Pre-cursor: If you are looking for great FRIED RICE, King Wok is NOT the place to go - plain and simple. Drive the extra few miles to YE'S in Carol Stream on the corner of County Farm Rd and Army Trail Rd (strip mall by Dunkin' Donuts). Day and night's difference in quality and taste. - Sweet and sour chicken = pretty good. - Fried Rice = NOT GOOD. Based on the quality and taste, it is barely different than the frozen "Tai Pei" brand in your local Jewel or Wal-Mart freezer section. Ordered shrimp fried rice. The rice itself was barely browned and had almost no flavor, tasted like cardboard. There were also - literally - about 8 pieces of cold white shrimp mixed in. Most of the rice consisted of vegetables. Small peas, small carrots, and raw onions almost the size of quarters. Now, I have nothing against onions in certain food items, but these type of onions in fried rice just seemed way out of place. The box was LOADED with them. I stood over my sink and picked them out with a fork and ate what I could of the rice. It was almost as if King Wok's version of fried rice was "Let's brown the rice slightly, throw in as many vegetables as we can, and then throw in a few shrimp." (I suppose you could ask for "no onions" or "no whatever", but I didn't think to do that, as I didn't know ahead of time what would be in the fried rice). I try to be fair with all of my reviews, but I would never get fried rice from this place again. Ye's does it correctly. Ye's loads the box with shrimp (literally 75 of them for a large box), browns and flavors the rice correctly, puts in a bit of scrambled eggs, bean sprouts, small green chives, etc. NO ONIONS. No carrots. No peas. (aka no "filler material"). Large raw onion pieces do not belong in fried rice unless somebody asks for them specifically. I obviously cannot account for everything on their menu here, but I would not buy food here again. Again, if anybody is looking for great Chinese food or especially has a craving for some GREAT Fried Rice - TRY YE'S. I can't say King Wok is terrible, but I reckon many of the 5-star reviews below which state "this place is hands down the best Chinese place in the Western Suburbs" obviously haven't tried other Chinese take-out places... read more

I live in West Chicago and have been a fan of King Wok since they opened. We always get carry out and depending on how many friends or family are over we have tried an extensive number of their items. Our favorites: Sizzling Ma La Chicken, RIb appetizer, Lo Mein, Mu Shu Pork. My order has never been incorrect and the portions are large. I used to live downtown Chicago and was never able to find a decent neighborhood Chinese place I liked (especially after living in NYC.) So it thrills me to have one way out here in the burbs. read more

I loved king wok when I lived in west Chicago. The owner was great and she knew our order by heart when we called. She always used to ask my husband when we would be making her some babies to come eat her Chinese food. It always put a smile on my face. I miss this place a lot since moving. One star is being generous, this place deserves half a star. I will never order from this place ever again. I live in the same city as this restaurant (West Chicago) it took 2 hours for our order to be delivered. After waiting an hour and a half , I called the restaurant to ask about the status of our order and person that answered the phone told me she would call delivery driver and call us back. Well.......25 minutes still no call back , so we called again and the same person answered the phone and told us to call her back in half an hour , but , then later states that foods on its way. I tell her that if we don't receive food in the next 10 minutes that I would prefer to cancel my order , lady responds by saying that's okay no problem and hangs up on me. This place is good when your craving Chinese food and you want to eat something to eat ASAP. The takeout is quick and if you order there you only wait about 10 minutes at the most. The crab Rangoon is delicious and so is the sesame chicken. The reason they only get three stars is because the food doesn't stay hot very long. This place can make small changes to their menu. They only have two sizes for the rice, only large and small; it would be nice if they had a medium size. The small does not have enough rice but the large is way too much rice especially if your only ordering for yourself. Never again! I ordered vegetable chow mein that was all onion, had no noodles, and two broccoli florets. I love onions, but give me some vegetables! The white rice I ordered tasted 7 days old.
