My family has coming here since they opened. The wonton soup was perfect - flavorful with plenty of green onions and the small portion was had four large wontons (no room for more - there wouldn't have been enough broth!). Didn't leave much room in my belly for the shrimp fried rice, which is always good (shrimp are small but plentiful!). The food itself was good although the portion size was a bit questionable. I ordered from this place on my way back from work. Tried the crab rangoon along with the sweet and sour chicken. The pricing was completely different from the website - it cost almost $18 for a small sweet and sour chicken and crab rangoon which was far more than the pricing on the website. Tried this place for the first, and last, time. Garlic chicken - comes in a brown gravy with tons of onions and nothing else. Sesame chicken - the breading was tough and chewy Kung Pao chicken - more water chestnuts than anything Chicken lo mein - flavor ok, but I didn't realize the Cantonese noodles were tiny. That's on me. Best part were the eggrolls and the dipping sauce that come with. That would be the only thing I would reorder from here if I were to come back. read more

Grabbed some takeout. Egg roll was strange - there was a weird cinnamon flavor. Lo mein texture was odd too, like overcooked spaghetti, and the sauce was not very flavorful. Most of the Chinese food around here is disappointing, and unfortunately this was no exception. read more

Let me start out my review by saying that I'm not a Chinese food snob. I'm a guy that's always live in the suburbs, and found a couple Chinese food places that were local, and they were always just fine and good enough. I usually go to Jin's (which is closed on Sunday) I thought that I would give them a try and support a local business. Unfortunately I was disappointed. The Egg Foo Young was acceptable. Large order is 4 parties in a bucket of gravy. Chicken Lo Mein was bland. Meat, vegetables and noodles were just the flavor of the oil they use to cook it. It wasn't overly greasy per se, but it had zero flavor. I was disappointed. The Mongolian beef was also relatively low on flavor, and it was average. Also got an order of the sweet and sour chicken, the the size of the breaded chicken was large and I thought a decent value. The sauce was pretty traditional. There wasn't really anything that I thought, "Wow this is good!" or "That's a unique take on this dish!" Everything was average and low on flavor. I won't be ordering from here again. On Sunday I will order from Koi. even though it's a little bit pricier, I feel like the food is better. My hunch is that this place is been around for a while, and they really just need to refresh their menu and think about some of the suppliers they are using for some of these entrées. read more

Used to come here once a month before moving out of state. After moving back to the area I decided to give it a try again even though it's a good hour drive round trip. It is just as good as I remember. Love the sesame chicken, crab Rangoon, pot stickers, pork fried rice and egg rolls. So tasty and you get enough food for several days. Carry out only but well worth the trip. Owners are very kind as well. Probably a good thing I live in Elburn otherwise I'd be here about once a week. Highly recommend read more

The man on the phone and at the counter was nice enough, but this was - by far - the worst Chinese food we have ever had. We love Chinese food and are not terribly picky. With that said, three items were ordered: Sweet and sour shrimp - Tons of thick, stale, chewy breading surrounding tiny, tough and tasteless shrimp. An actual chore to eat. Crab Rangoon - Over fried, dry and tasteless. Beef lo mein - Smelled like dog food and again, void of any flavor. Most of everything went into the garbage. I am truly astonished at how long this business has been around and at any rave reviews. I had anticipated much better because of its longevity, but I can confidently and unfortunately say that Chinese Ho is an absolute Chinese NO. read more

This has been my family's go to chinese place since I was about 5 years old. It's hard to compare it to other Chinese places because I haven't been to many others, but when making comparsions, Chinese Ho is. Their menu is diverse, and they can prepare special orders (no oil/msg, or low levels). I like that as a health conscious diner. They also offer brown rice, which not all chinese places do. I don't get rice either way; I like noodles or veggies! Anyways, my go to dish when I was younger was Sweet and Sour Chicken and Cantonese Noodles. I used to eat about a large box of noodles and a large order of the sweet and sour chicken by myself, then another box of noodles on top of that. My family would order about 10 boxes of noodles because I would eat them for lunch the next 5 days. These were back in my fat days. Now I order moo Goo Gai Pan and Steamed veggies. Another dish I like is their satay pork. I've never had anything bad here, and the staff have always been wonderful. Was in the mood for Chinese. Haven't ordered from here in many years and thought I would give it another shot. Unfortunately, this will be our last. Fried rice was terrible. My husband took a few bites and refused to eat the rest on his plate. It was firm as if it was old rice and too much soy sauce. We ordered a veggie fried rice and a chicken fried rice and the veggie fried rice tasted burnt on top of firm and dried out. Beef & broccoli was just ok. I was number 7 in a long line plus the additional 3 phone orders that called during my wait to pick up my order and I finally left 20 minutes after my original pick up time. Got home to luke warm food and of course my meal out of the three was wrong.. Only giving two stars for the two meals that were correct. Who doesn't like Chinese Ho's?! Now that the joke is out of the way I would like to shine some light on this place's food. It is a take-out restaurant serving your quintessential neighborhood Chinese food. The food itself is fairly average, with no extra frills. The mushroom fried rice is likely my favorite dish, with Kung Pao chicken coming in at a close second. I'll keep this review simple as a reflection of the simplicity of this restaurant. read more

I have yet to try something from "The Ho" (as me and my husband call it) that I didn't like. I'm always searching for a good shrimp and lobster sauce, and they've got a great one here. The appetizers are great as well - crab rangoon, egg rolls, etc. You can't beat their lunch special either - about $5 gets you a big serving of your chosen entree, a full sized eggroll, fried rice and a fortune cookie. All that, and it's ready to pick up in 10-20 minutes. read more
