My fiancé brother got us a lane and the only thing I had an issue with was at the end it said we had 5min left but it was 10:12pm so I was a bit confused as to why that was since it wasn't the rented hour being up and they didn't close till midnight. Odd. At any rate we enjoyed ourselves here big time. Their cherry slush is tasty but that's the only thing I ordered so I can't speak on food or other drinks. The arcade is super fun. I only go here to support my wife for her league night. It is a nice place in general. I jhave a couple of time had dinner here. I have had the delicious mini corn dogs on a few occasions. I have ordered the bbq wings. They were ok, not very meaty. But the Chicken teriyaki plate was on par with any fancy restaurant. Chicken was cooked perfectly. The rice was cooked through to a perfect texture and broccoli was soft with a slight crisp. I was happily surprised. This will be a go to for me on her next league night! read more

6 of us, all adults, went in to try out the Laser Tag arena. We played a game of Free For All, and a game with 3 per team. We had a blast! The arena is very well-designed... very complex without being distracting. There are two levels, and tons of obstacles for cover, but no place that's overpowered to just hang out and snipe folks... there's always a place where someone can pick you off if you try camping out. All of the equipment seemed to work well! Often in Laser Tag some of the jackets or guns are faulty, which is super frustrating. All of our gear functioned perfectly. It was a bit pricey, but in line with various other Laser Tag places. read more

Do not expect any good service while here. We attempted to go during a trivia night, which was hosted by the lovely Stumptown Trivia, and after placing a drink order at 6:05, we were then promptly ignored until we decided to finally get up and go to the bar to ask for our check, at 6:45. Our server, who not only attended to THREE different tables who had arrived AFTER us, actually asked us if we "wanted to close the tab". Seriously? Why the hell would I want to stay after being ignored for over half an hour? After looking at the area, it was two servers assigned to ten tables at most, being five per person. If you can't handle that, with half of those tables already having ordered and gotten their food, then maybe serving isn't for you. Managers, please vet your servers before assigning them to events like this. read more

You wouldn't think to go to a bowling alley for a delicious meal... BUT think again! My husband ordered their Bacon and Blue cheese hamburger which came with fries. The burger had a delicious charred outside, was juicy, and medium rare as ordered. The onion ring retained its crisp crunchy exterior with a bold onion flavor. The tomato was sliced thin but still had a firm bite to it. The bacon was thick but crispy enough to bite through with the burger. And who doesn't love fries hot and crunchy right out of the fryer served with a side of sweet but tangy bbq sauce... a great alternative to ketchup! My go-to order is their steak bites! I order them rare because they are served in the same mini cast iron skillet that they are cooked in. I love the char on the outside and the tender center. The bites are cooked in garlic butter with a sprinkling of blue cheese which makes my mouth water just thinking about them! It went by quickly because of chatting with fun friends made it go by quickly. I enjoyed the sliders & mango habanero chicken wings the most out of all the Happy Hour food I ordered. I ordered quite a bit of food and those two were the ones that tasted yummy for me. We had the lane 25 bowling which was cooler than being at the bowling lane 1-24 because from 25 and higher the lights were cooler which was a cosmic bowling style and I liked the music that were being played on that side. This place is totally awesome!!! much better and more lavish then the Eastside location, however I do like the Eastside location and is the one I frequent. I like Kingpins overall so I'm kind of biased towards other bowling alleys. I love how this business is set up for children, teenagers, and adults. The food is always delicious thanks to "The taphouse" the prices are about what you'd expect to spend at an establishment such as this. I love the fact I can play video poker when my children are playing video games! there's different nights of the week where you can get games for half off, great birthday party choice. I am not a bowler. I am a gutter ball girl. Seriously. My experience with bowling is relegated to a couple of birthday parties in AZ as a kid, a trip to one in Portland with a classroom full of kids who had mental health and behavioral challenges, a boozy office shindig or two at Big Al's with my ex, and oh yeah when I was in grad school while working at an internship at residential school for Deaf youth I had a complicated weekend job of riding a bus with them that involved bowling...sort of. Every Friday night I would ride on the crowded school bus into the wilds of the outer Bay Area to drop 30 youth at home for the weekend, then the big bus would leave me all alone at a bowling alley in Lodi for an hour while I waited for staff shuttle to come get me and take me back to the school in Fremont.The pay? Free rent at the school. To go with my unpaid internship. Sweet! That Lodi bowling alley was old, smelly, and smoky. Men hit on me while I waited. But they had great cheap tuna melts and a pay phone to call my mom. ( No, I didnt have a cell phone it was 1991 ok). Anyway. My child has been to Sunset Lanes for school trips and is comfortable there. So when we scrapped our pool party plan for the birthday kid ,because our numbers kept dropping from people going out of town, this seemed like a good choice for Princess and her two remaining buddies. They have a website where you can look and see what times/lanes are available and book what you want. I looked and there was a lot of availability so I skipped making reservations and we just went. Sunset Lanes is surprisingly nice inside. It cost $50 for two hours of bowling on a Saturday from 1-3pm including shoes for three kids. None of the youth knew their shoe size. I wish the lady had offered us one of those metal feet measurer thingies like they have at the shoe store. She just stared blankly at us when I asked for her help and the kids had to go back and switch them when they didn't fit. I also spent about $12 for a pitcher of rootbeer and a basket of fries. The bar/grill has a surprisingly extensive menu, including all kinds of fancy french fries,beverages including espresso, sandwiches, pizza, breakfasts, and desserts. We were assigned lane #5 complete with comfy couch seating.It was pretty empty where we were and it worked out well.If you have non bowlers like myself there is additional seating a bit back from the lanes where you can stay out of the fray but still watch and drink coffee with your book. Perfect. Two older men came and shared the section for their lane, #6. They didnt stay long. Warning: the music is BLARING the whole time with videos playing. Lots of screens.The kids got on their cell phones between their strikes and spares so they had reception for sure. In case that's important to you. I didnt see any payphones. Long way from Lodi. Walked by this place yesterday and realized that they finally opened. The interior is very spacious a modern look to it. They also have a bowling section in it with a large screens in the background. The food selection looks decent as we ordered the Mediterranean wrap, which was pretty flavorful and not too heavy. The beef nachos were pretty large as it came on a small tray. I liked that they used the melted cheese in addition to the shredded cheese. The food tested decent and the portions were large. I'll have to try some of the other stuff next time. read more

First time to the new "Sunset Lanes" (I know it's King Pin but forever Sunset Lanes in my heart) and such a modern interior and polished look both the inside and outside. Much larger arcade area that includes laser tag and a Taphouse area off to the side. The bowling area seems to have more lanes with the table area of each lane smaller in terms of space, it definitely seems sleeker as they don't have the couch style seating as it is all tables and chairs that swing out. The space itself is a little confusing as when walking in, you see a table then the arcade and the front counter off in the corner instead of right to the side. My group had a Groupon for 2 hours of bowling and $10 arcade card. The shoes said they were true to size but over half the group had to exchnage them. Bowling itself was great as there are cool features to change the screen graphics for the player set up. Also, a timer of how much availability is left with each game helps coordinate how fast or slow you play, very helpful. The ball reurn did seem a little slower than the original location too (but this could just be me thinking this as I do not bowl often). With no open kitchen available in the front like the old location, many servers go around and ask your lane specifically if any food or drinks want to be ordered as well. The prices for the food were surprisingly reasonable and cheaper than my group thought, though we didn't order anything this time. Awesome new large space and fun time, I think I'll just have to come back and get used to the changes next time. read more

I came after work to have some dinner and a drink. Arrived at 6:29. Chose to sit at bar. Overwhelmed by people just coming up side by side of me to order drinks. Made myself move to be in a more isolated area. Then received no service. Had to flag down 2 people for help. One was a lady manager in a aqua blue shirt. Another table of 4 people sat 10 minutes after me and got serviced twice. Within all my waiting time I observed waiters and waitresses standing and talking and eating ice cream. We celebrated my niece's 11th birthday party here, and it was an amazing experience for all the kids! We selected the Royal package which included bowling, laser tag, and arcade time. It also included the shoes, pizza, unlimited beverages, and a fruit platter. We brought in a cake and some mini bundtinis as well! We were assigned a party host (TJ), who was amazing! He coordinated getting our pizza served lane side, and kept filling up our pitchers of water, lemonade and soda when they ran out! He also stored our cake and bundtinis in the fridge until we were ready! We were assigned two lanes, and the kids were able to bowl for an hour and a half! Once they were done, we served the cake and bundtinis and TJ walked us over to the laser tag area! While the kids were playing laser tag, we had an assigned table in the arcade where we waited for them! When they were done, we were provided with cards they could use to play arcade games! I was impressed with how clean the entire place was! Even the bathrooms were clean. The service was amazing and the staff were all extremely friendly. There is parking in front of the bowling alley, and even though it was super busy since it was a Saturday, we all found parking! Lack of decent food and video game arcades, and, most disappointingly, got FOOD POISONED! The food is what you'd expect from a cafeteria - mostly bulk, frozen bland items from foodservice vendors. You'd literally find better tasting and quality products from Trader Joe's for cheaper. Plenty of bar/restaurant staff but service/friendliness is nonetheless lacking. The arcade is mostly full of arcade versions of old school games like skee ball, hoops, carnival games, etc. It's surprisingly devoid of video arcades, save for a few racing and shooting games. Ok, the food poisoning part: I had two beers and the second one tasted remarkably "off". It's an oddly hoppy amber ale but tasted in such a way as if there was detergent or sanitizer in the glass or tap line. It tasted awful but I ended up drinking most of it since I didn't want to waste it. Big mistake. Next day, felt incredibly hungover, physically weak, and extra nauseous, which is unheard of for me with only having two beers. Now 3 days later, the nausea is gone but I have little appetite, have GI upsets, and can't even shit right. Eat here at your own risk. You've been warned. read more

Kingpins is newly opened. It has many nice attributes, but had one glaring deficiency. Amenities: 4/5. The place is bowling first, arcade second. The lanes and balls are very nice. We had three lanes if the restaurant/bar side. The scoring system is feature rich. For being new, their shoes are weak, literally. They fit large and loose. Seconds, they need to work on their gate sensors. The gate came down on balls at least 5 times over the course of two games. Food: 3/5. Large quantities yes, high quality, no. The food was ok like typical bar food but really a bit of a greasy bomb. It falls short of expectations considering how the place looks. Service: 2/5. I bowled for 2 hours, and in that time the waitress asked me once, 1.5 hours after arriving, if I wanted a drink. She would bring the food and dump and run. Pretty lame.
