First off, these guys did not think we were 18 so they did not let us in even after we showed our ID. It took us 60 min to get our shoes. Then in the middle of our game there was a glitch in the system where the pins did not count. It was only the 6th frame but they charged us to restart. At that point we were fed up and left. Will not come here again unless there are legitimate changes. They thought they were kings when they should be called jokers. Went back because my 30 year old cousin wanted to bowl at 720. Apparently 50 minutes is not enough time to play a full game. "Because there is a 45 minute wait we cannot let you play since it is 21 and over after 9." This place is truly the joker of all jokers. It sucks. If you come here prepare for the worst customer service here who do not want business. read more

A fantastic night out! This place combines my love for cocktails, loud dance music...and bowling. Sure, you might not see little old ladies with blue hair and matching pink-collared jerseys at King's....but the ginormous scorpion bowls totally make up for it. *Friday night: put your name in EARLY! If you show up around 8pm and expect two lanes right off the bat, you're in for a surprise. 21+ and PACKED! And on the weekends be prepared to shell out (per person) 6.50$ per game and 3.50$ per shoe rental. *Security is tight: men in suits (yes, suits) watch over pleasantries to ensure a drunkard-ruckus-free zone (and -cough- to tell girls posing for a picture on the back of the refurbished wooden seats not to sit on the back of said seating *oops). They want you to have a god time (but to stay safe!) *Drinks were a normal price (~8$) and there is a large menu - pitchers of beer also available. Great time with a little friendly competition in a really FUN space! Totally worth the short drive and free parking. read more

If you are a looking for a great update to the 70s bowling/lounge, you have it with Kings. So many bowling lanes stick to the tried and true method of offering bowling in a building that hasn't been updated since 1975 (I think the shoes are the same too). Kings updates everything from the look and feel of the lanes and lounge but also to the suprisingly upscale food offerings. Sure you can get your usual beer here, Kings has a very extensive beer selection. Since I chose to bowl, my group went with beers and appetizers. We didn't go crazy with the appetizers (wings, quesadillas, nachos), but they were all very good. That nacho plate was huge. For a few people, coming under 50 bucks for food on the tab was not too bad. The waitstaff gives you a waiter/waitress for your area and they are always checking on you or always nearby if you need something. Very helpful. I saw people getting whole meals while bowling as well. Go for it if you can but unless if it is pizza, that NY Strip Steak might be tough to eat between frames. They have a decent sized eating area if you want to do the sit down and eat some of those more larger entrees. The best is that Kings does go 21+ after 6 pm. The reason I like this is because they advertise themselves as an adult place and they follow through (where places like Dave and Busters I feel fail in that regard). On the best nights though you might be waiting a bit for a lane. They don't allow you to reserve lanes unless you are a large group. Part the sea of cement within a sprawling strip mall, and in the corner, beneath a colorful "KINGS" sign and a light-up, black and white Art Deco billboard, is Kings. I know this place just opened (which leads me to the question: really? 9 reviews already?) so I will be sure to be gentle. Everything here seems jumbled and in need of some polishing. Nobody is really competent in their position, but I'll ignore this. Security certainly makes their presence known. They must've been picked on as children. The other people, for the most part, are hospitable. Got a goat cheese and portobella pizza. It was really good, actually. The lanes are high-tech and snazzy. This place is alot of fun if you want to have a good time with a large group. Everything about the place just makes you want to bring your best buds and your A+ heckling game. The ambiance is very fast and high-stakes. From the trendy first-daters to the chic ladies dressed in their best designer attire, the place makes you feel like your trip out of boston landed you in a vegas casino. Complete with a one-two punch of both bowling and karaoke, this place has something for everyone as a weekend destinations. Correction, something for everyone but your kids - drop them at the sitters. The bowling is great but the "per lane" charge makes it really expensive unless you're in a larger (10+) group. The funniest thing, and a bit of a tip to the location downtown, was the 80's music videos playing while we waited for our chance to bowl a strike (or gutter for that matter). This place definitely has the best rental shoes I've ever seen. No, they felt like they must've had memory foam insoles in them, and there's nothing like comfortable shoes to get the team going. The food was a slight uptick from your typical bar-fare and definitely not the reason people keep coming here. My recommendation: eat beforehand. Though, if you must eat here, get the chicken wings or the nachos. DO NOT GET THE CHICKEN FINGERS! They are terrible, terrible, terrible. But definitely come here, bowl a couple games, and if it happens to be friday night, hit the karaoke stage and embarrass yourself. read more

I went here with group of people last night and it was a really a good time. We had a reservation for dinner so that we could get on a bowling lane faster. We started with appetizers, I enjoyed the buffalo wings and had a bite of the buffalo tenders. Both were really good. The wings were cut so they were sort of like "meat lollipops" and the tenders were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I had a glass of wine, so I can't comment on the mixed drinks, but everyone seemed to enjoy what they had. As for the entree, it was bland. I had the honey mustard chicken salad, which was iceberg lettuce with a hunk of grilled chicken. I usually get my dressing on the side and use just a little bit, but I ended up dumping the whole thing on the salad. Others in my group said their entrees were kind of bland as well, but they raved about the apps. We finished dinner and drinks and then got on a lane pretty quickly. Bowling isn't cheap here, about $35 for a couple for 2 strings. They have bar service while you're bowling which is great, you never have to leave the lane! Came over the weekend with some girlfriends for a fun and different Girls' Night Out. We started with dinner, which was ok. My honey mustard chicken wrap was good, but the 'homemade' chips which came on the side tasted like nothing... literally. I did enjoy my cocktails... I had a sangria and a sangria/margarita mix. They weren't cheap but I didn't think they were too pricey for the Boston area. The service wasn't good at all, we had one of those waitresses who seems annoyed that they have to serve you. We moved on to bowling (were able to move to the top of the wait list because we had made reservations). Our lane opened after just 5-10 minutes... not bad at all considering some of the reviews I read here. We bought a giant cocktail to take with us to the lane (what can I say, we're not pitcher of beer type of girls!). We decided on the Fish Bowl, which was fruit and coconutty, and - bonus! - had Sweedish Fish at the bottom of it. Bowling was fun but a little pricey. Seven dollars per person per game, plus three dollars for shoe rentals, seems sort of a lot to me. The atmosphere of the place was pretty cool. They have a large bar area where you can wait for your lane to be open or finish your huge cocktail after you bowl. They don't let in anyone under 21 after a certain time (7 PM??) so it definitely has an adults -only feel. I would definitely return but also wasn't blown out of the water. read more

Kings... The trendy bowling spot. I came here on a Saturday night by happenstance. My friend and I were going to go to a sports bar to watch the Pats game but it was too crowded. Being the fair weather fans that we are, we decided to go bowling. Upon walking in, the desk attendant said that the wait to bowl would be approximately 1.5 hours and that we could grab a few drinks at the bar. Drat. After lingering for mate ten minutes, we decided to return our little blinky device and skedaddle. When I approached the desk the attendant said that 8 lanes were going to open up within the next fifteen minutes so we would get a lane shortly if we wanted to stay. I was a bit confused as to how the wait went from 90 minutes to about 30 but.... Under promise and over deliver I suppose. Bowling was $7 per person per game including shoes which didn't seem unreasonable. Plus the Pats game was on in the background and the place was jamming with sports fans. All in all, it is a decent place to go if you are in the area but expect the place to be packed on a weekend night. This is a good place for a group fun night! First off, from what I have "heard" - the wait on a Friday/Saturday night can be up to two hours long. However, if you have dinner beforehand at their restaurant, you can get bumped up to the front of the line. Everyone at your table needs to have an entree as well. This place was fun. Great music, they have sports games going on, waiter service at your lane. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The patrons were very nice, and it had more of the family atmosphere than the normal "seedy bowling" atmosphere. The food at the restaurant were very good portions. The fries were very good. The food was so-so. It is your normal "pub" food that you will find there. Burgers, sandwiches, wraps, the occasional fish entree. It is the right food for the situation, but just not the greatest. However, it was totally worth eating it beforehand to make sure that we were next in line for a bowling lane. Try this place out! I would come back! read more

Don't go here on a weekend. It is packed!! I was very surprised that this place had so few lanes and a huge restaurant taking up space as much as the lanes did! I suppose people go there to eat rather than the bowling. It was a two hour wait for an available lane and every lane was reserved over a week in advance for that day! I Love Kings!!! I work in Canton and when Kings Dedham opened up, it immediatly turned into our afterwork hotspot! I like the food, I love the drinks, but what makes the whole experience more than just a bar/lounge etc, the staff. I have NEVER had a bad waiter or waitress. I have never had bad customer service. I have only had some of the Nicest, Funniest servers.... EVER!!! My favorite drink is the Gummy Bear Martini... AMAZING!!!!!! They have new summer drinks too... Pop Rock Martini & Skittletini. Both yummy. They have a new patio to sit out and drink in the sunshine or the atmosphere.... All in all a great place!!!! Highly Recommend it read more

when we got there, it took almost 15 minutes to someone prepare a table for us, even though we had a reservation, it is not very pleasant to stay standing with a toddler running and crying among people... Our waitress took way to long sometimes to bring us more drinks, sometimes we had to order with different people because our waitress would disappear. That's not the worse for me, I understand that some days you won't be able to serve everybody the same. What really bothered me was the fact that lady's bathroom has no changing tables! It is VERY HARD to change a toddler on your lap while sitting in a toilet, no need to say that it was a disaster... The changing table situation really upsets me... but the food was GREAT!! I went to the 90's night last Saturday and had so much fun. My friends and I got a lane and ordered some drinks and appetizers. It was pretty busy because of the event but our waitress Kelsey was the best. She was super attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere was so much fun. I really don't know where to begin: 1) food took over one hour after ordering. 2) alcoholic beverages did not come as advertised. 3) food was cold at arrival. 4) one meal had shrimp in it (imagine if he was allergic to seafood!!!!) 5) forks, knives, and napkins were given to us 10 minutes after receiving food (and by "given to us," I mean essentially just thrown onto the table with a half-ass apology. 6) manager wouldn't even come speak with us after we initially expressed our frustration. 7) WE COULDN'T EVEN PAY TO GET OUT OF THERE. 8) Thankfully the manager comp'd our meal after one of us went up to him physically. I arranged to hold my company holiday party here. First, bowling was a great idea and everyone had lots of fun. But I would look somewhere else next time. The night was expensive which we signed up for but although our server was good if there was some party management it was out to lunch. The check in people were not helpful. I said I was here for ... party and they said OK. Didn't tell us where to go or what to do. Next problem the main area was way too loud for our group. There was an available quieter area where we could hear each other talk but it took me asking 5 people if we could be there for them to set us up there. No one was in charge of us. Food, drinks and server were good. But we have some gluten free and vegans and it was hard to figure out a menu for them and when the food came to know what was gluten free. I made reservations online for the dine and bowl..confirmed for 7:45 for a party of 5. Received an email that someone from King's will be in touch prior to arrange the entertainment (bowling) after dinner. 2 hours later and no call so I decided to call them. I was told dinner would have to be pushed back to 8 (if I didn't call, would they have called me to let me know?). He also indicated the reservations didn't include the bowling so he would put us on the wait list even though I told him I specifically made these arrangements online thru their link. Apparently, the link for dine & bowl isn't really that, he said. And no one checks to confirm back with you even though you receive an email stating this. Very unorganized, it seems. Misleading to say the least. With no guarantee we could bowl right after dinner that it advertises, we had to cancel last minute. GLUTTON FOR PUNISHMENT... We attempted to bring kids again to bowl since we never did the last time we came. No wait this time but also inattentive front staff who would answer phones, talk amongst each other than help the folks at the counter. No surprise, there was a gentleman complaining about something. We asked for 2 lines since there were 6 of us. We were told we couldn't..8 was the minimum. 1/2 the lines were not being used and still couldn't have 2 lanes. You wonder why there's often a wait tho..if you allow 2 lanes for large groups, maybe, just maybe, the games would end quicker...just a thought. We were also told a large party was using some of those lanes. We played for 1.5 hours...ONE GAME/ONE LANE/6 PEOPLE, the party never showed! We originally paid for 2 games each..changed our mind 1.5 hrs in and asked for a refund. They refused to refund our money but instead gave us passes to come back and bowl!!! The place was practically empty. We needed a size 6 (women's) shoe. We were told they didn't have it. Whaaat? We ordered apps and a couple of milkshakes. One whole menu page is dedicated to milkshakes. We got the apps during the game. The milkshakes came at the end of the game. We were told there was a party going on and their milkshake machine can only make 3 milkshakes at a time. Why is that my problem? Maybe communicate this? Again, just a thoih Why would anyone want to come back..this place is so unorganized; customer service..what is that?; management needs to change. This is interesting...even the credit company is questioning this charge. Left a $5 tip on this bill and they altered it!!! My receipt (thank God we kept it says $23. OK, so let's get this straight - it's a bowling alley. You're not at Mistral or Del Frisco's. Go in expecting deep fried bar-food (the menu is quite extensive). It's also a 20-something pick-up joint, so although the serve staff is friendly they are usually scrambling juggling drink orders from a lot of people otherwise occupied. That said it's big, clean, modern, and a lot of fun. A terrific sound system plays popular tunes. Plenty of TVs showing sports events. We've gone twice with my wife's co-workers for a team night out and had a blast each time. On some nights they offer karaoke in one of the bar areas which is always fun. Spare yourself the aggravation of trying to find a parking spot in the lot in front of Kings and head straight to the parking garage. You'll add 3-4 minutes to your walk and burn off a few of the calories you are going to consume. What would be needed to receive 5 stars? The food could be better, a lot better. Fries are never crispy and the pizza is so so at best. I'd pay more for a crispy crust and better tasting sauce. Here's a thought - strike a deal with a local pizza place and charge more for premium pizza! Improve the quality of the food and it would become a more frequented destination in our home. One of the nicest bowling alleys I've come across (OK, I don't visit many) Perfect for a family night out, an office get together, or some similar such group event. read more

We had no problem getting a lane on a Thursday night. I hadthe turkey wrap which was good and fresh. Fries were great. Not very impressed with Kings as a whole. The one in Boston or Dedham. It is always over crowded and have gone to bowl on numerous occasions and the wait times were over an hour. Not to mention that bowling is on the pricey side. Food and Beer prices are on par with other neighboring bars and restaurants, but there are far tastier choices within walking distance of Kings Dedham. Not all bad at Kings. The decor is awesome and fun. There are other games to play while you wait an absurd amount of time to bowl. Big Buck Hunter is my favorite and a must at any descent place. One more negative was that the music was so loud it was hard to have any kind of conversation with someone standing next to you and i'm not that old! read more

i had a good experience here. it was my second time. wednesday nights you get priority bowling if you have dinner there. it was my friend's 25th so dinner was at 8. we all ate, and chatted and when we were done, the beeper we had went off, like it knew... no wait for the bowling lane. i think it was $10 for all you can bowl. we did 3 games and left at midnight. i ordered a really good hamburger. my friend ordered scallops. the portions looked appropriate. perhaps if the food price is expensive, the drinks can be cheaper? it's all higher end food drinks and bowling. the fries were good in a not fried way. i liked my drink (gingerale and crowne). we ordered ice cream and had the chocolate sundae and the banana split. both very good. bowling was fun but i didn't like how we were charged $2 for socks. good thing i brought my own. i liked the dance music while bowling. so we drank, danced, bowled all at once. perfect 25th birthday i would say. our server was attentive and nice as well. it was a good time at King's. make sure you guess how many mike n ikes are in the jar if you go =) read more

The food has taken a decline. In the past I would frequent this place, because they had great wings and even better atmosphere. After going there recently the wings were dry and soft. We ordered 10 Wings and calamari. Not only were the wings dry we only received 9 of the 10. The calamari had. More jalapeño peppers than calamari and tasted as if it was old and not fresh. I'm not a fan of this place I have been a couple of times because it's one of the only close places to grab a drink/ listen to music if you don't want to drive into town and are local. The drinks are not made well. I tried 3 different drinks that were barely drinkable and ended up ordering tequila shots because that was more enjoyable than the mixed drinks. A couple of friends I was with had things stolen the two times I went, and the last visit it smelled so bad like shit .. I was told there was a back up in the sewage pipes. ( why even bother staying open ). It's over priced for what you are getting and a friend of mine was questioned multiple times for their Id at the bar he's 28, and had to show it when he came in to even get in. ( it was in state ) Patriot place is by far better for the money value. ( scorpion bar , bar Louie and Toby Keith's) I know this place is geared toward bowling but I find most of the people you bowl next to aren't ever really friendly and it's just awkward sharing a lane with them. Wow. I popped onto to Yelp to just see, out of curiosity, what the King's Dedham reviews were like- assuming all good because, I dig this place. Umm, nope. Maybe I just have been lucky on my two visits here, but, I was impressed. Came in December for a work holiday party. The communications w/ the event chick were great, she worked w/ me to make it affordable and work out seating etc. (mostly because my cheap co-workers were not impressed w/ the cost of an event) I'll admit, it is very pricey, no two ways around that. But, once we hammered out the details, some through phone calls as well as emails (all calls/emails returned promptly), we made our way down on a Friday night after work. We LOVED it. The people were very nice- front desk, manager, waitress, bartenders. They were very accommodating and pleasant. The food was A-MA-ZING***. The bowling was a bit expensive, but, we rotated 7-8 people in our group into strings and it was fine. (group was 20ish people) On my second trip in it was just two of us and other than the food choices, was not disappointed. Had lots of fun, music is good, was not too loud that night. All and all, I will continue to go to King's for a fun night and not take it too seriously. I hope some of the issues other folks had are fewer because the place has the potential to get more stars. (***Big downer though- just recently, on my second visit, found out the food served for events NOT on regular menu- very disappointed with that, what's the point in getting people excited w/ the food if you don't offer it normally??
