Cute cafe recommended by locals and didn't disappoint me at least! We came December 26th for lunch after skydiving. Venue / Service: located in Kapaau outside of Ha'wi, this is a small, cozy place to grab lunch. You walk in and the counter / menu is right at the entrance. After placing your order, you can try to find a seat inside- we came around 1pm and we were able to find a table for 4 people easily. The people in the cafe are welcoming and friendly and will bring out the food to you once it is ready. Food: judging by our group, some food is excellent, and some is ok; I think it really depends on what you get. -- 7 inch Sausage Pizza ($8.99) - very unique crust given it is thin but not too crunchy; the best thing to compare it to would be a thinner pita or something like that. A good ratio of sauce to cheese and plenty of toppings to go around! I loved the fresh red onion and tomatoes to contrast with the salty sausage. Everyone at the table thought this was one of the better dishes that we ordered. 7-inches is perfect for an individual portion. -- 7 inch Supreme Pizza (pepperoni, sausage, ham, olive, mushrooms, tomatoes, bell peppers, red onions, and parmesan cheese)($8.99) - apparently another good pick, for those who love their toppings. While I'm not a fan of certain toppings, my friend who ordered this considered it one of his favorite pizza combos he's seen. -- 7 inch Rosemary Gorgonzola Pizza (white sauce with rosemary topped with artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes, mushrooms, and parmesan cheese)($8.99) - this one in particular was recommended by locals, but note that this is a white pizza (aka no tomato sauce). Not the biggest fan, since I found the gorgonzola a bit strong for my liking and the toppings otherwise slightly bland (with the exception of the earthy mushrooms)... but perhaps it's just because I'm not the biggest fan of white pizzas. -- Original Hawaiian Cheese Steak (melted Swiss, bell peppers, onions, pineapple and teriyaki sauce)($12.99) - I actually liked the combo of the pinapple, onions and teriyaki sauce, although it was overall slightly on the sweeter side. Perhaps a stronger cheese or more cheese would have done the trick, but otherwise a fun take on a Philly cheese steak! Overall, decently priced and some of the dishes we ordered were pretty good! Wanted to respond with good news, but the burger was extremely dry. Was disappointed, seen the good reviews, but not worth the $20 for a sahara burger.... Take your business elsewhere, understand not much in this touristy town. But we should of gone done the road a little bit. read more

Ok if you're vegan not the best spot to eat, even though they went off menu for me the young man at counter wasn't helpful at all. As a big tourist island you gotta be friendly maybe crack a smile or engage with customers. They ran out of coffee and told us it would take a few minutes ok sure that's cool but once it's done could you tell the customer that's been waiting 20 minutes? I was dry mouthed couldn't enjoy my food but the cook seemed friendly with locals. Coffee was very good and my bagel had grilled onion with tomato not bad then added a side of rice. read more

Stopped in to get a quick bite before we went up to ride ATVs. The garlic pesto chicken pizza was crazy good! The mango smoothie was really good as well. The hamburger and fries was terrible. Do not get this. Stick with the pizza and mahi-mahi salad! The servers were really nice as well. Lizards everywhere. Pretty lizards, but I could have done without watching them lick the honey jars. read more

Order at the counter and have a seat. Food came out hot and fast. 5 stars for the portion sizes. I got 7 or 8 slices of bacon, a thick waffle, 2 eggs and a huge pile of potatoes. Prices are very fair. Overall food quality is 3.5. While they are very generous with the portion sizes,for example the bacon, I got a bunch of meat but it was just average nothing to really write home about. Overall atmosphere and Ambience is a 2 out of 5. The restroom gets a five because it was very clean and it's nice to find a restroom inside in Hawaii. The food came out on real plates but you had to use plastic forks and knives and they did not have real coffee cups. Just cardboard ones. I like to drink my coffee out of a real mug and have real silverware. While not overly concerning in Hawaii, nor surprising, was that there were some small ants and bugs inside. This place has some real potential in my opinion if they were to offer real silverware and coffee cups and add a little bit more fruit and flare to some of their waffle and pancake dishes. read more

This restaurant is closed for indoor seating and has limited outdoor seating. There is a takeout window. The customer service was on the disinterested side and meals came out slowly even accounting for pizza. My husband's pizza was very good. My cheeseburger was good. My accompanying potato salad was incredibly dry and a very tiny portion. Should have had fries instead. There was a lot of ice cream being served that we did not try but seemed to be local flavors and well received. Across the road is the closed civic center but bathrooms are available. Parking is readily available. Good for refreshments if you are not in a hurry. read more

Paid $14.99 the chicken salad with avocado instead received a small plate of chopped Romain lettuce with a 2 slices of brown avocado and a few pieces of chopped chicken from a can. Nothing like what their normal salad is like which we've had at least a dozen times previously . With island greens and chicken salad made with mayo and fresh grapes, diced tomatoes and fresh avocados. So very disappointing l, will not eat here for a while until they figure out their menu and be consistent with quality. For $14.99 its not worth it when I can make this for $3.00. Went to Kapaau to see the King Kamehameha statue (which is right across the street). Stopped in here for a quick drink- what a little gem. We always eat here when in town which is a couple times a year but this last time was really junk. Food took forever and was very good. Waffles were very soggy and tasteless. I'm medically GF and their GF pizza is the best I have ever had. Ever! Call ahead and be sure they have GF dough going. That said, my family swears their regular crust pizza and says it's the very best on the island. We pick up or eat there a few times a month. We stopped here for breakfast on a Saturday morning while we were out and exploring the area. I had a pretty basic breakfast- eggs, ham, toast and potatoes. It was tasty and well-priced. I loved how my portion was not overly huge...but you can get a bigger portion if your appetite is bigger than mine. Also...the coconut syrup here is delicious! After a zip-lining tour nearby, the whole family was famished at around 11:30 am. We stopped randomly at Kings View Cafe, mostly for the excellent location; on a lovely strip of road in the tiny town of Kapaau. The statue of Kamehameha I stood proudly across the street. I was a little disappointed they had ZERO Hawaiian-style plate lunch here, only sandwiches and pizza. But the rest of the family was satisfied with this, so I made due. I noted many Yelp reviewers liked the pizza, and Kings View had a pulled pork version, so my choice was easy. Service was very cold. The woman who took our order was obviously miserable, and she did not stop frowning or fuming once during our entire lunch. (Later, after one of the local cops chatted her up about her attitude, she admitted she was working a long shift and was pissed about it.) Still...no need to poison the atmosphere. My pizza arrived and was tasty, but the crust was a little on the tough side - it was almost impossible to cut the bottom layer. My wife didn't finish hers, partly due to the fact her crust was mildly burnt in a few spots (I kinda like the extra carbon myself). But she wasn't very hungry. With all the other recommended spots in the area, we probably won't visit here again, but it served it's purpose well enough for our hungry family, so Kings View gets a passing grade. read more
