I recently saw Kini Koffee in the community as they mentored young entrepreneurs by bringing a third grade class's large scale lemonade stand endeavor to life. It was so heart warming watching the kids in action running their lemonade stand (at an event with 400 attendees) while raising funds for a good cause, all at the guidance and encouragement of Kini Koffee. One of the best coffee spots I've been to! Been meaning to check out Kini after seeing a bunch of their TikToks LOL. They definitely didn't disappoint! Located in Del Mar, the coffee stand is tucked away in a plaza with an incredible atmosphere and view of the roads + beach. Plenty of seating to enjoy your coffee and you can cross the street for a stroll down the beach. The drinks itself are super creative and have many interesting flavors. I got the Mint Chip & my friend got the Zebra and both were really good! I love that my drink had the strong taste of mint + mocha and the mint foam on top was divine. Cute coffee cart at the top level of Del Mar Plaza! There is tons of free seating to enjoy the ocean view and sunshine. They have a standard coffee menu and a variety of specialty drinks that are definitely on the sweeter side. I got the Toro which is an Iced hazelnut latte with caramel cold foam. Sweet and delicious! Kini Coffee is my absolute favorite and it's just the most darling little coffee bar! The location is dreamy...on top of Del Mar Plaza with an amazing view of the ocean! They have a lovely menu and everything looks delicious! To be fair, I do not drink coffee, but I drink everything else there, and all of the drinks are ALWAYS yummy (think specialized chai tea lattes, cocoa and warm cider)! All of the staff is amazing, and Gemma is my absolute favorite barista! She is lovely and helpful and always creates delicious drinks for me! She makes me feel like a very special visitor every time I visit and she always remembers everyone's favorite orders! ! My friend asked if she had some cold water and the response was that there was self service at the bar which was ok but when she asked if it was filtered water the response was " how do I know. Amazing views from Del Mar plaza deck (level 3) and comfortable patio furniture to sip on your drink of choice. So far i've tried their regular drip coffee and a chai latte, both are pretty mediocre. Great place to stop for a cup of coffee. Recently I have been trying to stray away from going to places such as Starbucks, to just try something new. My good friends live near, and decided we should definitely experience this place. I was very impressed with my coffee. I opted for the Candy Cane Cold Brew, and it was delicious. I really enjoy the location of this place as it sits at the top of the Del Mar Plaza looking over to the ocean. Can't get sick of that view. The lady helping us was extremely friendly and gave us her recommendations prior to our selection. Was nice to sit and play ping pong while we waited for our coffees. I was pretty disappointed today at Kini unfortunately. Out of chai which super sucks and no sugar free syrups or flavors at all. Service was good, and the gal making drinks/taking orders was really sweet, just bummed that they were lacking some pretty basic supplies. The view is great and there's ample seating/shaded areas to sit and enjoy. Parking is nice too - free for an hour in the parking garage. Not terrible, but not great. read more

When I first approached the kiosk, the girl behind the counter barely acknowledged me and then went back to whatever she was doing. I tried to keep busy by looking up the menu, but the QR code wouldn't work. Given that first impression, I actually wandered off and opted to pass on coffee. The inviting community rooftop space kept me around. I found an Adirondack and got comfortable with my company, watching the coastline and enjoying the sun. Eventually we decided to give Kini Koffee another chance. I got the Bae, which was an iced lavender chai latte with colorful sprinkles. It was sweet and tasty enough. It ran me close to $10. I wouldn't go out of my way to get coffee here, mainly because it's expensive and, at least on the day I went, lacked customer service. But the community rooftop area is a great place to hang! There's even a ping-pong table, corn hole, and a fire pit. read more

Even though the hotel we stayed at offered a coffee & tea service (a Keurig, snuggly tucked into a pull-out drawer beneath the television), my girlfriend encouraged me to do better; it was my birthday after all. A quick, walkable-coffee search brought me to KINI. "What should I get?" I asked because I knew immediately that this was not where I was going to get the medium roast craft coffee I'd been craving. I was recommended THE BAE, which I ordered with coconut milk, but omitted the cold foam (because it was made with dairy) and declined the rainbow sprinkles because, even though it was my birthday, why rainbow sprinkles? The Bae turned out to be a perfectly fine recommendation and, though each sip stopped shy of "too sweet," the chai cut through just enough to feel like I wasn't cheating on my forthcoming dinner with afternoon dessert. Overall, if you want a sweetly-crafted, caffeinated beverage with an add- sprinkles option, served by two lovely humans with the pacific ocean as a backdrop and can avoid or ignore the small boy fishing for errant ping-pong balls under the kiosk, KINI is a delightful and delicious experience. read more

I am so glad we found this little coffee spot on the 3rd floor terrace of Del Mar Plaza on Monday 9/11. First of all, amazing service, attention, and vibe of Tyler (hope I spelled it right), the barista (*thanks for the donut recommendation, worth it!). Couple this with the delicious coffee, the incredible views overlooking the beach, and it's the perfect coffee spot! We ordered an iced "Kraken" and iced "Old Town", and we loved both of them, especially the light coconut cream on the Old Town. I will travel far for good coffee, and I'm definitely coming back to try all the other espresso drinks all the way from Chula Vista! read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! The most rude, unprofessional barista I have ever encountered. I watched in extreme discomfort as the brunette woman, who claimed to be the manager was the most blatantly rude to customers I have ever seen someone in customer service act. She acted annoyed when people tried to order a coffee...at their coffee shop and when customers asked simple questions she wouldn't answer them and would passive aggressively tell them to look at their long, extravagant menu and figure it out. People looked nervous to ask her questions or for anything, even a napkin, because she was so extremely rude. I watched her roll her eyes and whisper under her breath about customers. My friend who visited Kini a few weeks before told me she had the exact same experience with the same woman. My iced oat latte with cold foam ended being $10 and was the worst espresso/latte I have ever had. The coffee was horrible and the ingredients were cheap. I watched as the same rude brunette barista dumped watery liquid "cold foam" onto my drink and it sunk to the bottom because she was too lazy to froth it for 10 more seconds. I have given this place a few tries because I work close to the area and each time am appalled at this barista and the way she treats others. There are a few younger girls and an adorable british girl that work there that are the sweetest however due to this specific other barista I won't be coming back. I see based on other reviews many people have had the same experience. I highly recommend any kind of owner or boss higher up in Kini Koffee talk to her about her customer service, attitude, and work effort because she will end up driving away all customers and running the business into the ground. It is unfortunate to watch a business who's slogan is "Koffee is for the Babes" to be the exact opposite of building women up and everything else they stand for! read more

Kini Koffee was absolutely adorable and the barista working was super friendly! I got an iced honey latte with oat milk. Their 16 oz comes with a double shot and the 20 oz comes with a triple. I was really happy to hear that it wasn't just a standard double shot for all sizes like some shops tend to do. I really enjoyed my latte and I also just loved the location. It's a bit tricky to find -- you can see it on the roof from the street but figuring out the stairs to get up was just a tiny bit tricky since the name of the shop isn't on any of the floor directories. That's no fault of the shop, though! Anyways, once you get up there and order there are plenty of spots to lounge around and soak up the sun. Been wanting to try this place out every since I discovered it was above Monarch restaurant. The espresso here is okay. It tastes sort of like Starbucks espresso to me. Even getting an iced latte as part of our order, I realized the espresso still did not appeal to me. However, the views are wonderful up here! There is a pool table and other games to play on this roof. There are short and tall chairs and even couches surrounding fireplaces up here too! If you are looking for a place to work or have a quiet conversation with someone this is the place to do it!
