Big fan of the Lamb Vindaloo (max spice) and the family loves the Lamb Saag (no spice). Chole is also quite good. As for the weekend buffet, your mileage may vary. High quality, very tasty food that they keep pretty warm. There was a very large variety of different foods so if you can eat a lot of one sitting, it's awesome to try a little bit of everything - which I did. I liked most of the dishes, but a couple standouts were the Andhra Goat Curry and Moong Dal Payasam (dessert). Atmosphere is basic and the staff is not engaging. Tried Kinnera for the first time tonight and it was overall fine. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated. Pretty standard for an Indian restaurant but nothing to be amazed over. There was a larger party that came for the last part of our meal who were on the louder side and let their children run around the restaurant. While not Kinnera's fault it did lead to a lease than pleasant meal. For dinner we had the mango lassi, onion pakora, chicken korma, and paneer masala. I always appreciate when restaurants bring out papadums and chutneys as well which Kinnera did. However, I wasn't a huge fan of the pakora. I didn't get a lot of onion flavor in them and found the dish to be very dry. A sauce would have been a welcome addition. My chicken in the korma was cooked very well as it was nice and tender. For $16 the portions were huge and the meal comes with plenty of rice. I wasn't as impressed with my korma sauce though as I'm used to a creamier base. My significant other said there wasn't a lot of paneer in his masala either. Our service was standard but pleasant. The waiters didn't come over as we were eating and took a while to ask if we wanted the bill. However, they were prompt once we said we were ready for the check. I love Indian food and have had it around the world but I am glad this place is up and running. One day I'd like to try the lunch buffet. read more

I'm posting this review a bit late, but I wanted to share my takeout experience from over a year ago. I ordered butter chicken, cheese naan, and garlic naan, and man, it was a letdown. The butter chicken was probably one of the weakest I've ever had--no tomato flavor, just a heavy cream vibe with no spice, like some other reviews have said. The cheese naan had this cheddar blend that made it taste more like a quesadilla than naan, totally not what I'm used to from my go-to Indian spot. The garlic naan was just okay, nothing to write home about. I could only manage a few bites before tossing it, which was rough for a $17 dish. Had to order something else instead. I might give them another shot someday, but I'd skip the butter chicken. Hopefully, they've dialed in their flavors since then! read more

We visit RI often and usually stick to the same old Indian restaurants. I didn't know about this place all this time, but thanks to Yelp, I discovered Kinnera. The great reviews here truly reflect my experience. We placed a couple of pickup orders and also tried their weekend buffet. The food is absolutely delicious. The stuffed mirchi is unique and tasty. The onion samosas (similar to the ones found in Hyderabad and Kerala, India) are so hard to find--it made me so happy. The buffet spread is equally impressive. Among the vegetarian favorites, the vada, idli, and Chinese dishes all tasted amazing. read more

Everything is littered with junk AI content plastering the phrase "authentic" yet they have almost no photos or videos is from their own restaurant. Such a shame because the photos taken and shared by customers on yelp alone would have been much better at bringing in new customers. read more

Easily the best Indian food Ive had in RI. Recently opened on front street that's seen decent turnover at the location. The interior is clean and well lit, inviting. However, let's talk about the start of the show, the food. The food was absolutely excellent. Fresh, hot, extremely flavorful and not packed with oil and butter as most Indian places are. The samosas were spiced well but the chutneys were both great! A dish I haven't seen elsewhere that we got was the stuffed mirchi and it was a huge hit with everyone. Four huge stuffed peppers, very spicy and full of flavor! We loved everything we tried - refer to the pictures. My only suggestion would be to make sure the chutneys come with samosas as standard. Honestly this place deserves the attention it was getting as it was pretty full. I think they'll have to work on the balance of having to deal with a packed restaurant but I'm sure it'll smooth out over time. A must try! read more

I came here to try their lunch buffet on a Friday. They have a good selection of veg and non veg dishes. I liked their biryani, andhra style chicken curry and the chettinad chicken. The owner is quite involved with the restaurant and the food. For 15.99$, the buffet was well worth it. It goes to 18.99$ during the weekend. Overall it was a very good experience. One of the best Tandoori chickens I have had in years. 4 leg/thighs served on a bed of chopped fresh vegetables, lots of cilantro which I love. Only $20- that was enough for 2-4 people on its own. I came here for dinner with my wife and two daughters. We started with an appetizer of Chicken 65 that the waitress said they could make without being spicy... but it was very spicy and our girls couldn't eat it. The water was room tempurature, with no ice unless we asked for it. We ordered 4 Mango Lassis, but after bringing us 3 they had run out. Our dinner took almost an hour to get to the table from the time we sat down, and it wasn't very busy. Been here for takeout twice. Can't speak to table service, but the inside appears clean & was very busy both times. Cumulatively, we've tried: Kinnera Special Chicken Biryani, Kinnera Special Chicken Curry, Goat Korma, Goat Vindaloo, Chicken Vindaloo, Tandoori Chicken, Bullet Naan, & Butter Naan. All the dishes were very good and, in my opinion, very authentic tasting. My only food related criticisms are that the Butter Naan was lacking flavor & the spice level in my dish both times we went was way less spicy than requested. I understood the first time I ordered because what is spicy for one may not be spicy to another. However, we emphasized how it was not spicy enough last time & requested it be made "extra" spicy, & the heat level was minimal in my dish. My son & hubby both asked for spicy; it was lower than requested in my son's dish & as requested in hubby's. Lastly, both times we went, the wait time was much longer than expected. The first time, it was almost 30 minutes later than promised. The last time, the manager (who took our phone order) forgot to send our order to the kitchen! Told us it would be 30 minutes. Hubby got there to pick it up & that was when they discovered they never submitted it. He was told to come back 30 minutes later. They did sincerely apologize, but did not do anything extra for the inconvenience. Not that I want something for nothing, but offering would have gone a long way. So, will we be back? This is my favorite Indian restaurant in RI and I almost hesitate to write this review, as I secretly love walking in to an open table on any given weekend night! However, the people need to know how good this place is. The food is phenomenal. My personal recommendations are the lamb saag, chicken biryani and daal makhni. Their gobi 65 (fried cauliflower)is my favorite appetizer, it is so crispy and flavorful. The food is made with such attention to detail, and the owners & servers are incredibly kind and welcoming. Kinnera is an unassuming neighborhood spot deep in the suburbs of Lincoln, but is well worth the trek as I find the food to be far superior to most Indian food I've had in Providence. We finally made it to try the food here. We went the night before the Indian holiday Dilwali as a family. When you walk in the rich smells of the masala's greet you. The walls are painted a nice mango orange color with some nice artwork from India on them. We were a party of 4. My husband and one daughter shared Chicken Korma with garlic nan. Me and my other daughter shared an order of Tandoori chicken. Everything came out hot and with just the right amount of spice for us. They do ask you how spicy do you want your meal if you are someone who doesn't like spicy foods. My daughters also had mango lassi's to drink. We also had dessert with our meal. Kinnera is one of very few Indian restaurants from which I've thoroughly enjoyed the food. I generally dislike going to Indian restaurants because going out for food that is better at home feels like a waste. Kinnera is the exception, and I enjoyed every bite of my meal. It compares to restaurants like Woodlands in DC, which delivered high-quality South Indian veg cuisine (as of ~7 years ago). I only wish Kinnera were closer to Boston because it's better than the Indian food I've tried locally. Very nice find on the way from Providence to Boston (requires a small detour). The dosa is presented with a wide variety of chutneys, sambar, AND yellow potato. This means everyone's taste buds leave satisfied. The sambar is delicious, hearty, and tastes homemade. While I prefer a chunkier potato, and theirs is more pureed, I can live with this because the taste was balanced, spot-on. The Chole bhatura is perfectly puffed and perfectly sized--not too oily. Other Indian restaurants put so much oil and spice that it overpowers the dish. Kinnera's chole is not too oily, and the masala flavors stand out, married happily to the heat (I asked for medium). Glad we didn't order more than two dishes because the portion sizes are generous (and I say this as a Southerner). The mango lassi is very good on its own, but the decorative chocolate syrup took away from the taste. That's probably my only complaint. The owner is very involved, and I wish his team the best of luck with their new restaurant. High praise from a picky vegetarian. I'll be back. read more

We had a wonderful chat with owner Pavan as we waited for our food. What a nice and inviting soul he is! The atmosphere is comfortable and clean and the food is delicious. The online menu does not describe the dishes in detail, but the printed menu in the restaurant includes descriptions of the dishes for those who aren't very familiar with Indian cuisine. I'm so excited for the community to both have this delicious food and to have a man like Pavan at the helm who is so excited to support local initiatives and educate kids on the wonders of his native cuisine!
