It's been a while since I've been back but I remember kabob and curry being one of my favorites in the area. They don't have a parking lot, but they are located on Thayer St so lots of street parking to choose from. Since we went after 6 pm, street parking was free. The inside looks just like how I remembered it. We were seated on their first floor (they do have a second) towards the back so it felt very private. We could catch a glimpse of outside from the windows but most of it was obstructed by a wallpaper which was a shame. I was craving something sweet but hearty so I ordered us some cauliflower 65 as an appetizer. For drinks we just stuck to the water they gave us. The cauliflower 65 was good. It was sweet and a tiny bit spicy. The cauliflower was very soft. But I do wish the cauliflower would have kept more of its crunch from the batter. I couldn't decide on what I wanted as an entree so their special was perfect. I forgot the name of it but it's essentially a plate with rice, 4 different main dishes in small portions, a sauce, and naan bread. What I didn't like was that since the sides came in such small portions, the food cooled down very fast so I felt like I was racing against time. Also, I would have gladly paid an extra $1 to be able to select a topping for my naan. Without anything on it, it tastes too plain and kind of a waste of calories. The tandoori chicken was a bit dry but flavorful. Besides these, everything else was good. The flavors were good, the portion size was good, and customer service was also good. read more

I came back to Kabob and Curry to redeem a voucher ($10 off a purchase of $40 or more). There is an All Day Menu and a specials menu. On the specials menu, I saw a Chicken Tikka Masala and Aloo Gobhi combo. Since I really enjoy Chicken Tikka Masala and wanted some vegetables alongside it, this was the perfect combo. We also ordered Mango Lassi and Coconut Fruit Naan. The food didn't take long to come out and it was steaming hot. The Chicken Tikka Masala had tender, grilled boneless chicken in a creamy tomato sauce. The Aloo Gobhi had potato, cauliflower, ginger, and onion. I enjoyed my whole dish and I even had leftovers to take home. Service was friendly and I can't wait to come back to Kabob and Curry. read more

We decided to have Indian food when we were in Providence and checked out about Kabob and Curry based on the Yelp reviews. I ordered the daily thali which had chicken tikka, chicken with coconut curry, lentils and paneer curry along with papadam. It was a substantial amount of food for one person, but we also ordered the lamb saag and chicken tikka masala. Everything was delicious, and I particularly appreciated the thali so that I could have a little bit of everything from meat to curry to lentils and papadam. Service was friendly and fast. read more

Their menu seemed extensive and everyone in our group found something they liked. The food was delicious and the service was great. From an atmosphere perspective Kabob and Curry is a bit underwhelming. Additionally, I don't know if it was just the day we went , but it was cold outside and inside the restaurant. Simple, and classic, Kabob and Curry has been a mainstay and RIs longest running Indian restaurant and its not hard to understand why. Their consistency is unrivaled and the quality always superb. My wife and friends visit here frequently and have never been disappointed. For apps, the pakoras are a regular, as well as the cauliflower 65 and the chili chicken when were feeling something a bit spicier. Don't forget a mango lassi as well! The honey ginger naan is lovely and sticky sweet, and the pesto naan is a great savory option that pairs surprisingly well with the variety of flavors in the dishes here. For main meals there are just so many to chose from. The Madras is a warm savory coconut tomato sauce. The kadhai is a great onion and pepper broth that's a bit more adventurous. I have heard great things from those I dine with about both the saag and the aloo ghobi as well. For those looking for something a bit simpler, any of the tandoor barbecue dishes will hit the spot. They're a simple protein+rice dish that packs a punch in flavor and seasoning. The biryani is also a great option if you're loking for a bit more adventurous than simple. Its really hard to go wrong here. We eat at Kaob and Curry almost once a week and for good reason. over the course of the last four years, i have ordered kabob & curry several times. i have dined in, ordered take away, catered, and catered through the former Brown partnership. it is a solid and delicious college town indian food spot. it's consistent and reliable and easy to adjust for a party with diverse dietary restrictions. i love their lamb and paneer dishes the most, especially with saag. i have done all the related restaurants (chaska, rasoi, etc.) and honestly rasoi is my favorite but kabob & curry is a great central location with prompt service making it my go to. i wish they would bring the dosa back to this location!!! read more

Kabob and Curry has been around for a long time. I believe it's the longest running Indian restaurant from the local chain that now has 4-5 Indian restaurants in the RI area. It's located on Thayer street, full of other restaurants and Brown University students (as well as RISD ones). The menu is not too expensive and the decor inside is a bit "basic"....not as colorful as some of the other restaurants that the owner has. Still the food is solid and not too expensive. This time I got a tandoori chicken and it was moist, good and tangy...not too spicy...but with a nice kick.. Service is pleasant. Came here for the first time with a group of friends so had the chance to try a few of their dishes. Pleased to say that I was not disappointed by a single one! Their vegetable samosas were delicious, but their assortment of naans is what had us all hooked! My favorite was the paneer ( cheese) naan, though the garlic and cilantro naan was also to die for! The tofu mango curry was a solid 5/10 as it was too sweet for my liking ( without enough spice) but would definitely come back to try a different curry option, as they had many! This is in reference to a Uber Eats order. This is the third time that I have ordered from them. They do not mark any of the packages. For example, I ordered 3 different types of samosas. Would it be that hard to put a "L" for lamb or "C" for chicken? Also, 3 different types of curry's with different types of meats..you couldn't take one minute to label it so we didn't have to guess? Placed a large order and the food was okay- but it's the little things with this place....Also, I see another customer addressed this just 3 months ago- so your replies are basically lip service. read more

The food from Kabob and Curry, which is on Thayer Street a few blocks away from Brown University, and across the street from the historic Avon Cinema, has been truly fantastic. My girlfriend, and I have eaten both at the restaurant a good number of times, which was always very pleasant in their atrium style dining room, and probably an equal number of times we have gotten food via takeout, and through a delivery service, from Kebob and Curry. The food has always been excellent: flavorful, delicious, wholesome, fresh, nutritious, etc. I definitely recommend to anyone who is in/nearby Brown University, or Thayer Street, or seeing a film at The Avon Cinema and wants some flavorful food before, or especially after their movie, go treat themselves to some really good Indian Cuisine at Kabob and Curry. Just make sure you allow yourself enough time to fully savor your delicious food in case you are eating before seeing your film. They should really label their take out orders. Some people have food allergies and not labeling containers could put someone at risk of getting really sick. Besides that, their food is really great, but I am very disappointed with this experience. If you have food allergies or a specific diet double check your food, because nothing is labeled. Consistently predictable Americanized Indian food with no surprises for better or worse but overall it feels like things are slowly slipping. Cramped, tired interior hasn't changed for decades. We especially miss the complementary papadum and chutneys (but you can buy them now). Other cost-cutting measures are also clearly evident. Service always has been and remains notably excellent (except apparently no one likes to clean the restrooms). This always was a solid 4-star+ establishment. Just keeping our fingers crossed that ownership doesn't allow it to slip below 3-star. read more

Whenever I travelled to a new city, I absolutely get excited about exploring an Indian restaurant in a new territory. I'd read really good Yelp reviews about the Kabob and Curry restaurant located in downtown Providence, Rhode Island and also a block away from Brown University. As I immediately entered Kabob and Curry I could smell the delicious spices that made me even more hungry. I was also delighted with the attention given to me by the restaurant's host...he was welcoming! Thank you! For appetizer, I ordered two vegetable samosas that tasted just delicious...I especially liked how fresh the potato's were flavored and had a tiny spicy kick to it. Their menu had lots of options from vegetables, meat and different curry dishes. Most importantly the prices were affordable. For dinner, I ordered an extra spicy lamb vindaloo - the sauce was just perfect and reminded me of the lamb vindaloo I had when I was in Sydney, Australia. I'd also ordered their naan which was soft and freshly cooked. It tasted especially yummy when dipping it into the lamb vindaloo sauce. For dessert, I had some warm and juicy gulab jamun and this was on the house. Overall I highly recommend having a meal at the Kabob Curry restaurant if you too love Indian food. Highly disappointed in takeout serving size. The worst I've experienced in my 30yrs on Earth. $13-14 each for a half tall container of tikka masala and paneer saag, $5 for 2 samosa, $7 for 4pcs of appetizer ck wings. Literally feels like I got robbed. Bf said the wings were great tho. Samosas were good and fully stuffed. Tikka masala had (I kid you not!) like 6pcs of ck in it. Small popcorn chicken tidbit sizes of ck at that...I've had Chick-fil-A nuggets bigger than the size of ck that was in the tikka masala smh. Garlic cilantro Naan was good. Everything was still hot when it got delivered and didn't take long to be prepared. I loved the fried cauliflower app tho. Aloo gobhi I could do without. Paneer saag was good but like I said, serving sizes that are laughable. Definitely not worth the money spent. Work on your portions dammit!! I feel like I got hustled. I was introduced to Kabob and Curry during my first year of college, as it is one of Brown's favorite places to order catering from. I rarely enter the restaurant, but there's been countless times where I've gotten delicious dinners for attending student events on campus. The space in the restaurant is good for both small parties and large groups. My favorites consist of: Chicken Tikka Masala, white basmati rice, garlic naan (any naan is good tbh), and Cauliflower 65. samosas are good if you like small treats, and they pair excellently with the various chutneys offered.
