I miss when this place was good. It used to be a hidden gem. Now, it's subpar at best. The last time I came, it was bad so I gave it one more chance and it was worse. We arrived at 12:50 for a buffet that supposedly goes until 2 PM. There was hardly any food, and what was actually there was clearly old and had been sitting under heat lamps for quite some time. Absolutely a top contender in Indy for Italian food, in my opinion, #1 and not even close. Such a low key building/store front but for those who have tried, understand what a great local treasure resides behind a door that can't close on its own. Everything on the menu is great, but after 15 years of experience, I can only order the lasagna, even if it's twice a week. A great pizza buffet if you can catch it for lunch, don't hesitate to stop. Service has always been great and prices very reasonable. I plan on patronizing for another 15 years if possible! I can't recommend this place enough. Husband and I found this place via the app and thought to give it a try. Thank goodness we did. The service is outstanding. I'm pretty sure it was the owner who came over and reviewed the menu with us when she found out it was our first time in. She told us the servings were very generous and she wasn't lying. I've passed this restaurant so many times and wanted to stop by, finally one day for lunch I did. I was greeted warmly and we were sat quickly. They had a buffet for lunch with many options! We visited Kinsey's and tried the pizza and lasagna. The pizza was a highlight, featuring a legit Italian-style crust rather than your standard dough. The sauce(for pizza and pasta) is on the acidic side, so keep that in mind if you prefer a sweeter base. The lasagna, however, was a bit of a letdown. Instead of traditional layers of meat, pasta, and sauce, it felt more like a deconstructed dish--similar to taking a normal slice of lasagna, splitting it in half, and folding it over on the plate. It was buried in way too much cheese to where it didn't really work as a lasagna. We also weren't big fans of the garlic knots; compared to a place like Bubba's, these didn't quite hit the mark. The restaurant has a "dive" atmosphere, which might be part of its local charm, and the service was great. read more

Went in because it was my husband's birthday and he loves pizza buffets. Someone had recommended this place on a foodie FB site so I was excited. Well, I think the post brought in a lot of people. They were overwhelmed and were in recovery mode when we got there. The Buffett wasn't packing a lot of options and they kept telling us they were refilling. The photos they posted are very different from mine. They brought out 2 new pizzas while we were there and refilled a few things. I would say it was average but I see potential and I would like to give it another try because I believe we will get a different experience. 11.95 for the Buffet and it included a drink. It also included garlic knots fresh to your table. We didn't get them because we thought they were an extra and waitress didn't let us know they were included but we heard another waitress tell her table. We have driven past Kinsey's dozens of times, but last night was our first visit. The service was prompt and friendly. Our server, Alexa, helped to familiarize us with the menu. She was very helpful. I had a salad with the house Italian dressing: very tasty. My wife and I shared an order of bruschetta. It was different from any that I had ever tasted, and I loved it! Such a treasure to discover in McCordsville! Wonderful first time dining experience on March 26. Our server was so nice and attentive. Food was outstanding! My friend got the FETTUCCINE Alfredo, it came with a fresh dinner salad and garlic knots. I had the lasagna, which arrived at our table with lots of extra marinara sauce and garlic knots to mop sauce up with. Food was served just perfect temperatures. I came here to meet friends for lunch. I arrived early and was greeted kindly by friendly staff. I was seated at a round table with enough for 5 people - perfect size for our party. I like this place. Four of us had the buffet. My meal included salad, pizza, soup, meatballs, chicken wings, jalapeño poppers. We were late comers for lunch - arrived a bit after 1p. At first the buffet was lite on substance, but they quickly filled it knowing that they had four more people coming. The 5th person in our party had a calzone. Honestly his looked better than the buffet - but I was more in the mood to try many things. This would be a great place to take kids too - they have a kids menu. The prices were fair and they could get a variety. The atmosphere was welcoming and the noise level was medium. Perfect for a group of us to have a conversation. Kinseys is our local go-to for quick, hospitable, and tasty weeknight dinners or lunches. Their lunch sized pasta portions (lasagna is yummy!) with salad and garlic knots can't be beat. Pretty sure they put white gravy on my noodles instead of alfredo. I was craving some alfredo and a friend told me about this place. I ordered fettuccine alfredo and it came with garlic knots. The garlic knots were not done all the way in the middle, the "alfredo" tasted like flour, water and black pepper. It was good for gravy I just wouldn't have put it over noodles. Since moving from the area we haven't been in a while, so we went Thursday for the buffet and was very disappointed ( after bragging about it) there was no breadsticks a few of the pizzas were soggy and the only pasta was what looked like fettuccine Alfredo but looked unappetizing ( my son's favorite and he wouldn't even try it) the interior was clean but after looking around it looks worn out . Update: It had been a while since we have been in here, and a big banner on the building said they had started up the lunch buffet again! My wife decided to order off the special lunch menu, and after a quick scan of the buffet, I opted to try the buffet. My wife let me try her Alfredo, which she asked to add Italian Sausage to, and was accommodated. It was outstanding in every way! The salad bar is not the largest, or the smallest, and all looked fresh, so I was happy being able to select my own ingredients. The pizza looked less than optimal and I worried it was going to be a disappointment. In the mean time I opted for a bowl of the soup of the day, which was a Roasted Red Pepper Soup. It was decent. It looked and mostly tasted like tomato soup, but I could easily detect the red peppers in it and it was good. My beer made it to the table before I could get back to the table. A tall Coors Lite and all was well. Ok, I gave the pizza a shot, and there was about 6 different large pizzas under the warming lights. I decided I would try one piece of the two that looked closest to my taste. While the middle was a tad floppy, the further I got to the outter crust, the more crisp it got. What the big surprise to me, was that each bite just tasted better and better. It must have been mostly the sauce, but I was a BIG fan of how it tasted by the time we had to pay and head out to the next errand. WOW....by the end I wanted more pizza, but I don't think I could have taken another bite. Service was fantastic. Friendly, quick service and even custom ordered a meal. This used to be our place for great Italian food. We went a few weeks back when COVID stuff seemed to settle down. The food was off. The pasta sauce was lacking.. salt? Or.. flavor? I don't know. The waitress was nice but the place seemed more rundown looking and dusty than normal. I remember a few times when we went during warmer weather there always seemed to be that rogue fly buzzing around in there. And now, looking around, it just gives me "dirty restaurant" vibes. Not sure what is going on with our restaurants lately. I understand that COVID is a difficulty for everyone, especially restaurants with limited capacity, etc. But man, the food quality should still be upheld. The cleanliness of your space should be a major priority. The broken blinds and dirty looking tables, dusty window sills should not be a thing. This place is so great! For a little independent hole-in-the-wall restaurant, they serve up some delicious Italian food with great daily specials and a varied menu. Despite being an independent restaurant, the prices are not ridiculous. There is also a small pizza buffet which I actually haven't tried because the food on the menu is so good! read more

What a great little place. I have family that live nearby otherwise we never would've stumbled upon it. The servers were so nice and the food was made pretty quickly as well - and we were a party of 8. The prices are fair for the huge portion sizes (i don't know that anyone finished their entire plate except maybe the kids). The people that had calzones raved about them. I ordered the cheese tortellini and added Italian sausage and it was incredible. One thing I'll remember next time is to ask for no cheese on top. While tasty it was just way too much cheese! We were definitely pleasantly surprised with this place. This is one of our favorite go-to Italian places locally. And tonight did not disappoint! Everything is prompt and everyone is friendly. The pasta salad was incredible, as were the garlic knots and the three meat trio. Everybody that worked there were wearing masks. Terrible experience. We chose this place because it was locally owned and operated, and we support our community. I phoned Kinsey's a week ago inquiring if they were open Labor Day, as a lot of places were not open. I was assured that they would be open ( I called 2 days in a row). She explained that they may close a bit early for the holiday.(which is understandable). I tried to make a reservation for my wife's birthday for 7 people. The lady on the phone explained that I could not make a reservation unless it was 8 people or more. Ok, that's was fine. I explained that it was my wife's birthday, and we would arrive around 4pm , just in case they would want to close up early. She said that was fine and they would more than likely be able to accommodate us. And kind of did it with a "laugh". Something seemed off about that. That's why I called the next day. And again I was assured that it was not a problem. Fast forward to today 9/4/23 right at 4:00pm , the doors were locked , they were closed. 7 people were turned away, and forced to make plans on the fly. ( which was not easy considering it's a holiday). If first impressions set the stage for the quality of service , I would be embarrassed to employ those who think it is a joke to mess with people's plans for their loved ones. This was just uncalled for. 0/5 for Kinsey's We will not be back. And will not recommend this place for anyone. read more
