My daughter and I decided to try a new place out today and we found ourselves here. What a great place! From the moment we walked in we really loved the vibe! What a fun and welcoming place to get a coffee and sit for a while. I ordered the raspberry dream latte and she ordered some caramel honey something iced coffee and they were both delicious! We sat down in the caboose and enjoyed the details and we just went to the back to get some pictures. I will say I can honestly appreciate that they have a reservation sign up for the back of the caboose which makes so much sense. Time and time again we have gone to coffee shops and too many people are just hogging up areas and or treating the coffee shops like it's their personal office area so i definitely appreciate that you must make a reservation to enjoy the experience of the caboose. Other coffee shops should get on board with this kind of idea...pun intended! I live in McCordsville and have tried Coffee at the Crossing several times. I really really love the vibe of the place (it's perfection) and have worked remotely in there before, but haven't in a while because I just really don't like the coffee. I am not sure where they get their beans or how good their espresso maker is, but something is definitely off. The ONLY thing I have been able to drink is the shaken espresso which I have gotten probably 4 or 5 times, but it is far from consistent. I think maybe 2-3 times it had been good and strong and balanced, but the others the drinks have just been super watery and undrinkable. I have gotten extra shots in drinks in hopes that the drinks will be stronger and there really is something off and not good. Also My husband got a regular decaf coffee once (at 9am on a Saturday) and they had to make it as a pour over, and it was about $7, and he told me it was the worst coffee, he had to throw it out and got a coffee at BP gas station that was much better. The owners are very lovely and pleasant, honestly all the staff is. I just really wish something about the coffee would change. I can't necessarily see myself going back :( read more

Tried this spot with some friends the other day. We had two mini BFFs with us, and the train theme was a hit! The kids loved the train room, though there was someone on a phone call in the back so we didn't get to truly explore it fully. The menu was a bit hard to read on the boards as it changes through slides, but I was able to get my charge a milk with strawberry syrup, so she was pleased. I didn't get a drink; didn't see teas on the menu and wasn't interested enough to ask at the time. I did see a sign that said they had gluten free muffins, which is nice. My friend got a hot stuff bagel thing that looked really good. Her mini loved his plain bagel too. The loft upstairs is nice--has a couch, a couple of small tables--and besides the train car area, there are a couple of small tables downstairs by where you order too. The patio outside is a good option on days where it's not raining like it was when we visited! Bathroom was clean and had a step stool at the sink, a nice touch for us. This wouldn't be my first choice for a coffee shop stop, but it was a fun one for this particular day! 3.5, rounded up for the train factor. read more

Cute train themed, rustic vibe! Small space with a loft upstairs with tables, more outside, and you can even sit in a train car. The service was welcoming, nice, and pretty quick. I ordered a cold brew with coconut cold foam and its delicious! The cold brew was strong (Im always disappointed with a watered down cold brew and this was NOT that). And you could really taste the coconut flavor in the cold foam. I dont live too close but happe Ed to be near and glad I stopped. I have tried this place twice now and been let down both times. I am giving 3 stars, despite me throwing both drinks away, because it may be on me that I didn't ask for it not being an overly sweetened drink that doesn't taste like coffee at all. I am sure some people like to have a coffee that is in fact sweeter and richer than an actual dessert, but it's not for me. I felt an oil-like residue in my mouth after my two sips that I took from the overly saturated cream and sugar. Again, if you aren't a coffee lover and want coffee without tasting it, this place is for you. But for me, paying well over the price point of other places to throw them away because of the sugar content, it was disappointing. read more

Ok .. mission accomplished!!! I found the cutest coffee shop in the Indianapolis area !!!! The place is the cutest, like can't even find the words that I feel give it enough accolades. I felt like a kid in a candy shop ! I ordered the spiced pumpkin shaken espresso and my boyfriend got the campfire latte, both iced. Mine was sweeter but not overly sweet, it was perfect but the campfire latte was just a hint of Smokey flavor. The atmosphere is amazing and I may say that about 10 more times!! This has to be the best and most fun coffee shop around! First off Kenley greeted me to take my order. (See her pic) she has a great smile and is very nice. Just the design alone is something to go see in this strategically placed caboose that was expanded. Read the story behind it, it's really unique and special. I had a hazelnut latte with oat milk but they offer different kinds of drinks too. Want to lounge and enjoy your coffee? Take your pick of places to sit and marvel at the ingenious and unique design like no other. There are different levels full of creativity. Plus I know the owner and she's a neat person!! Super cute place to explore! My kids loved roaming around the caboose and finding train related items all over. Then we headed up to the loft area to enjoy our food and watch the town. They had WiFi info available to bring your laptop and work. Neat little coffee shop with a train theme. It's a bit small inside and wouldn't be a place to go work or study as it's quite loud inside. Better for a social interaction. The coffee was good but I've had better. I think it's more the atmosphere that makes this worth a try. Service was good and there was a steady flow of customers. read more

I finally found the coffee shop that has it all--an adorable atmosphere, friendly, staff, and (most importantly) DELICIOUS drinks and food! Coffee at the Crossing is located in the former McCordsville barbershop, and they really made it work with the small space available! From the outdoor patio, to the upstairs lounge, to the TRAIN CAR, seating options are plentiful. This was my first time trying Coffee at the Crossing, so I was a little overwhelmed with all the options on the menu. Luckily, Ashton at the counter helped me pick out a coffee that satisfied my sweet cravings: the toasted marshmallow latte! This was NOT your average latte--instead of just using marshmallow-flavored syrup, there were two whole toasted marshmallows in the cup! It was chocolaty and sweet, but if you like a more powerful coffee taste, I recommend ordering this drink with an extra shot of espresso. This is definitely one of the most unique coffee shops I've been too. They do the train theme very well, and it has an interesting setup. I went with one of the drinks they had on special, a pistachio latte. It was definitely on the sweeter side, but still good. They also had some bakery items and things for breakfast in the case. Very cute set up and decor, fascinating what they have done to enjoy the caboose. Staff was friendly but you could hardly hear yourself think, let alone say your order. Some of the machines were running at once and it was very loud. It is definitely the loudest coffee shop I have ever visited. My husband and I chose not to stay to enjoy our drinks because of this. The drinks were just okay. The flat white hardly tasted of espresso and the Dirty chai was made with syrup. I was hoping for a little more but enjoy supporting local so wanted to give them a try. This is a great coffee shop for parents of young kids, because they have a play area! It's small, but it's there and it's also inside of a real train caboose. The kids' play area has a few train toys, games and puzzles. Not a lot, but just the novelty of being inside a train that's inside a coffee shop is probably enough to entertain a kid long enough for a parent to enjoy a few sips of coffee in peace. Coffee at the Crossing also has a table with a game of checkers set up, as well as a comfy area in the loft with a couple of tables and a couch. Downstairs, there are some tables and bar seating that looks out the window. They have a large beverage menu with lots of different coffee drinks, including frozen drinks and hot chocolate. I got a black Americano because I like to keep it simple. It was really good and mellow. They also have a few baked goods, like scones, giant muffins, bagels, cake pops and Rice Krispie Treats. They do not have breakfast foods, though. The only bummer is that Coffee at the Crossing is closed for 50% of the weekend! They are closed Sundays. Wouldn't it be nice to leisurely enjoy a hot cup of coffee and a sweet treat on a lazy Sunday? Well, you'll have to do that somewhere else, because they are only open for half of the weekend, for some reason. read more

The coffee shop itself had such a fun ambiance with the caboose used as a seating area and there being a loft upstairs for seating along with plants on the wooden pillars and a fun sign and decorative wall on the way upstairs to the loft. The barista was sweet. I got the Backroads Latte which includes Salted Carmel, Vanilla, White Chocolate, and Espresso. If you like a sweet drink that is a pretty good one to try. Great coffee, amazing beverage and food options, friendly staff, comfortable seating, relaxed atmosphere, and to top it off such a fun and unique space! I had a work meeting here last week, and we stayed past our meeting time to just work in the space as it was such a pleasant experience. Our drinks and food were wonderful, we started sitting outside then moved into the train car so we could charge our laptops. I should probably begin this review with one of my disclaimers. While I traditionally dock a lot of businesses a star when there are accessibility issues, there are exceptions to that rule for a variety of reasons including the historic nature of the building, actual architectural limitations, and/or customer service that makes it all work. I can pretty comfortably say that Coffee at the Crossing has all three. This is a unique little coffee shop located in McCordsville, a small town on the Northeast corner of Indy. It's not where I expected it to be and it's pretty easy to miss with some construction also going on along this corridor. I actually had to turn around because I missed the entry drive. Coffee at the Crossing is right along the corner and easy to access directly off Pendleton Pike right as it's turning into US 36 and US 67 (don't ask me to explain it all - if you're from Indy, you know). It's a small building that features an actual caboose as part of the location. The whole set-up has really been beautified. You look at it and think to yourself "What a great gathering space." There's a small parking lot to the side with one accessible parking spot with blue stripes to the right (as a disabled driver, I technically need them on the left side for my wheelchair, however, this is still fairly workable as you can just park a bit over into the blue stripes). I did note that CVS, their next door neighbor, was being as obnoxious as ever by posting that THEIR parking is only for CVS customers despite their never having been a day in the history of CVS that their parking lot was actually packed. But, I digress. If you know this strip, you know that there's an active train track directly across the street. It's definitely part of the charm of this corridor. So, having a train-themed coffee shop makes sense. The caboose is functional (though also offers fun for kids). There are two meeting spaces set up within the setting - both are small but can be reserved for small periods. As near as I could tell, neither one was accessible. Coffee at the Crossing carries your usual coffee products, tea products, frozen options, and pastries. They also have some items for sale that are also on their website (which is nicely done). Coffee at the Crossing is locally owned with friendly employees. While there are accessibility issues here, an obvious effort has been made including an accessible entry, an accessible parking spot, strong customer service, and tables both inside and outside that would work. You may not get to go up into the loft, but you can easily enjoy yourself here. They are going to have an "order ahead" option soon and I found the prices reasonable - most coffee options are below a certain national chain and pastry options are on par with most coffee shops. As has been noted, they are closed on Sundays. This is very much a welcome addition to the McCordsville area. Previously, you had to go to Indy or Fortville for this kind of setting and now you can stay right in town and, indeed, Coffee at the Crossing very much intends to be a community gathering space. This might be a bit of a soft 5-star rating, however, there's too much to love here to not go with the 5-star. While I don't get to McCordsville everyday, when I do I have no doubt a stop at Coffee at the Crossing will be part of my routine. read more

I have been here before and although it is pricey I usually love the coffee. Went this morning and got a brown shaken espresso with almond milk to go but believe the barista confused the brown sugar for cinnamon because the drink had an overpowering cinnamon taste. I like cinnamon but this was too much! I looked at the menu online afterwards and saw that cinnamon is not normally in the brown sugar espresso. My search for a good coffee shop in Indianapolis took me to Coffee at Crossings today and I am so glad I stopped here to try coffee. It's a small, beautiful cafe with very friendly staff and one of very few coffee shops who offers authentic, tasty coffee in beautiful coffee mugs..It's a small, cute coffee shop with enough parking spots around it. They have outdoor seating right in front of the train engine and on a beautiful day you can sit and enjoy perfectly brewed coffee. The interior is beautiful and yes there are seating spots inside the train engine. The interior decor of this place is very beautiful and attention to detail is amazing, a very happy place to sit, relax and enjoy coffee. I ordered Latte 16oz and a flat white 12 iz which were served in a good old coffee cup, I have to admit I had a perfect cup of latte after a very long time, the flat was delicious too but I wish I have asked for an extra shot of coffee in it. I took my 3 year old and 9 month old here and was impressed. This is a cute little coffee shop that is kid friendly. The train car area is perfect to take your little ones to while you sit back.
