Larry and Kyle are very professional and friendly, knowledgeable and fair. After reading reviews, I sent a request for information late one evening, and Larry answered within an hour. We set up and appointment for Larry and his son Kyle to give me an in-home estimate on replacing about 500 square feet of old carpeting in two bedrooms and their walk-in closets. Kyle walked me through various fiber and style choices and even helped me pick the color. Larry measured the rooms and gave me a quote for installation, moving furniture, and the removal of the old carpeting. The price was very reasonable, so Kyle prepared a contract for me, he checked with the manufacturer for stock status, and we picked a date for the installation. Since I live in a condo, I needed a Certificate of Insurance to present to the building management company so the work could be approved. Larry sent me one without delay. The installation itself was so smooth. The team, Pedro Jr. and Luis, arrived right on time, moved furniture with great care, took up the old carpeting and padding, and put down the new. The master bedroom is large enough to require seams in the carpeting, and they did a great job. When they were finished, they vacuumed thoroughly and even cleaned the building's common areas like the hallway and lobby to make sure there was no trace of carpet and padding crumbs. They were kind enough when replacing the furniture to allow me to measure carefully and they repositioned the furniture to my exact specifications. I'd been thinking about getting new carpeting for a couple of years now, and it was reading the fabulous reviews for Larry and Kyle and American Carpet that gave me the confidence to go ahead and do it. So if you live in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and you are hesitating over getting new carpeting, take the plunge and call Larry and Kyle. He also raised the landing as it was too low and removed the short railing. Oliver did such a fantastic job. My stairs look beautiful. Oliver was easy to work with, prompt, extremely detailed and kept a very clean site. He matched the stairs perfectly with the newly installed flooring in the rest of the house. I would highly recommend him for anyone's flooring needs. He is a perfectionist, takes a lot of pride in his work and is an overall nice person. It took some time and patience, but after quite a bit of back and forth, we reached a satisfactory resolution, and our floors now look great. Stay calm and kind. Most of the people you speak with are not decision-makers; they relay your issues to those who are. If you treat them kindly, they will "fight" for you and prioritize you as a customer. If you're not satisfied, ask to speak with managers and have all your information and proper documentation ready. Again, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to remain calm and kind. You can achieve a reasonable resolution. Don't give up and they will make things right.

The salesman did not notice that there was tile below the current floor or even think it might be an asbestos floor. I know he saw the floor because I watched him. When the installer showed up, he said he could not install because of the asbestos. I had it remediated and the installer came back. He put in the new floor but refused to move the furniture into the rooms or re-install the closet doors. He said they did not tell him he had to do this so he did not have a crew with him to do it. His supervisor promised another appointment in a few days to move everything back. I began calling Empire a day or so later to confirm the appointment and was told there was not one. Each call I made to them told me something different. Finally they told me that they would not move furniture into a room that they did not take it out of or re-install doors that they did not take down. My contract was clear that they move furniture in and out. There was one larger dresser that we could not get into the room and had to hire some moving guys to do that and of course, to pay for that. Empire has offered me a credit of $140 which is just a token to me. The salesman, the installer, the people on the phone, the supervisor, they all had a different story for the issues we were having. Hence, I would not recommend this company. And if you use them, not only get it in writing but record your phone calls (totally illegal) but I wish that I had.

A massive refrigerator leak left the floor needing work, Covid or not. Alex came (masked) and provided an estimate. The next week his men came (masked) removed 3 rooms full of furniture (also pulling the powder room toilet) installed new pads on everything, taped off all of the kitchen counters, cabinets and appliances (allowing access to my now repaired refrigerator) and began. The equipment is amazing and the next room had no dust at all! They were efficient and very respectful of my desire to keep social distance. I was able to pick a color based on large samples put on my floor of the several I picked from a huge array. ;). I know boards were replaced, particularly in the original dining room and 'extras' happened but the estimate didn't change. I am sure that ideally we would have left the house for this process but with Covid there was really nowhere to go. Knowing this, Alex chose a finish that would be really durable (dogs and kids and grandchildren) but not require us to leave. Alex had said start Tuesday finish Friday and that is exactly what happened. After the weekend for curing, they were back Monday morning to replace all of the furniture. (In exactly the right place, including pictures on the walls, with no direction from me) The floors all look fabulous. I am more than pleased. At a time when I was reluctant to do anything to jeopardize our "bubble" the work done made me believe that Ace Flooring not only took excellent care of my floors and my possessions but also my family.
