This was an absolute BLAST! We had the best time here at Kipu Ranch Adventures. We arrived early and checked in. I was given a wristband as the driver. We were each given complimentary bandanas, a snack of locally made granola and access to plenty of water. There are also a couple of bathrooms at their location and some porta potties. After a short introduction by our guides Kyle and Kai, we were loading up into our ATVs. Helmets were optional, but they did give everyone goggles. I thought I would be fine with just my sunglasses. I was wrong lol. I highly recommend this tour, but I also highly recommend my tips: First, wear clothes you do NOT care about. It will definitely be dusty, but depending on rainfall, it could also be very muddy and the clay dirt on Kauai makes a mud that doesn't easily remove from clothing. Second, wear your swimsuit underneath your clothes and bring what you need for swimming after the tour. We had our phones in our water pouches on lanyards the whole time which was perfect for the dirt, mud, and the water. Third, tie your hair back if you don't wear the helmet cuz it's gonna get dusty and dirty. Fourth, WEAR THEIR GOGGLES! There are times when it's so dusty, the only thing you can see is the break lights of the ATV in front of you, and sometimes you can't even see that! My sunglasses did not offer enough protection from the dust lol. Fifth, use the bandana they give you. Tie it around your head and try to fashion it so it protects your nose, mouth, and try to protect your ears. You will be removing dirt from yourself for a while! The ATVs are so fun and the land is so beautiful. Our guides did an excellent job of providing the history to us and making this such a fun and memorable adventure. The trip ends with a splash in a local waterfall and swimming hole. It was so refreshing and fun to experience. And a nice way to remove some of the dirt we picked up along the way. Definitely give this tour a try when on Kauai!

Kipu Ranch Adventures' Waterfall Trail Expedition was one of the best experiences I've had in Hawaii. Incredible views, nonstop fun, and a true off-the-beaten-path adventure. Be warned...you get really, really dirty, but that's half the fun. The guides were great, the trails were wild, and ending at the waterfall made it even better. If you want an unforgettable Kauai adventure, this is a must-do.

This was the most fun and we learned so much! Kyle was such an amazing guide, I felt like we had a private tour of the island and he added so much to the experience with his stories, history, and pop culture knowledge. (I hope you finally got your boat!) My husband is a country boy so he's spent his life on dirt roads but this was a first for me so I didn't know what to expect. It was a little scary, a little dirty, a little rainy, and a LOT of fun!! We felt completely safe even though it was thrilling, and thought the entire experience was an amazing value. We're definitely planning on coming back the next time in Kauai.

The staff, the vehicles, and the tour were all outstanding. I did another similar excursion like this about half a decade ago, that was also pretty good, but this topped that by a long shot. Our guides were super knowledgeable and shared a ton of interesting information and anecdotes. I really liked how they stopped to break up the trip and provide insights and stories about the land and the people.

The staff will offer easy to follow instructions if you are new to ATV's.

Absolutely the highlight of my family's Kaua'i adventure! In addition to seeing the island's stunning rainforests, Hollywood filming locations, and rarely visited areas, you'll learn about the history of the Rice family, their ranch and the island. You'll also experience breathtaking views of parts of the island that are otherwise off-limits--all while enjoying an amazing (and at times slightly terrifying!) ATV ride. Our guides were fantastic, and the staff was incredibly welcoming. If you're looking to explore a unique, off-the-beaten-path part of the island, you'll love this tour.

The wife and I had a phenomenal time with the crew. Our guide I can't remember his name since it's been two weeks but he was great. He made the adventure very entertaining with humor and knowledge. This is my second time going on the ultimate tour with Kipu Ranch. My family first went on the excursion 8 years ago and we knew we had to book with them again on this trip back to Kauai. We had Kaimana and Marlon as our tour guides. They were super knowledgable, professional, and fun! We felt very safe with them and we had amazing experience even on our second time!

Out of my family's entire week in Kauai, booking the Waterfall Trail Expedition tour with Kipu Ranch Adventures was the highlight for each of us! We seriously can't thank David & Giggles enough for being amazing tour guides and just welcoming people! Highly recommend calling ahead to see which tours they're leading and book with them you won't be disappointed. You get such a rich history and understanding of the island, the land, the culture, all from locals deeply connected to their home! We were chatting it up with both David & Giggles throughout the tour and got a lot of local recommendations we ended up trying nearly all of them mahalo thank you for making our trip so memorable. The tour of the ranch is beautiful and comes with some amazing views, you get to see exactly why Kauai is dubbed the Garden Isle. Tips for the trip: it is quite a bumpy ride so make sure your body can handle it lol, definitely wear clothes you don't care to stain because you will get muddy and dusty!! there are 3 major stops during the tour so if you're booking for multiple people, you can each have a turn to drive the atv, and if you plan on taking a dip in the waterfall at the end of the trip, definitely bring a towel and be forewarned it's a bit of a steep walk but definitely worth it imo, it's gorgeous. The ranch also provides you with a bandana (you get to keep) and goggles (you return) to protect your face through the dusty/muddy terrain and to avoid eating any bugs lol, as well as a small bag of housemade granola. The check-in also has stations for any refillable water bottles! Last tip: bring cash so you can tip at the end of your tour!!! Mahalo Kipu Ranch Adventures!

Kipu ranch is a must for all!!! My group and I decided to start the day with an awesome ATV adventure where we learned so much and saw so many beautiful places. I swear i could do that everyday of my life. The tour guides were the absolute best and we actually saw one of them a couple days after and he remembered us. Still treated using if we were friends. After a good ride on the ATVs, you cool off by jumping into a small waterfall. For this i recommend bringing water shoes and a bathing suit. You also get fed a light snack (banana bread and water) which tasted super delicious. read more

Loved this trip, our tour guides Ryan and Mono were the best, they taught us about the history of the land, and added some comedy to the awkward silence, and had some pretty awesome music wars! Our family of 7 had an awesome time! The roads were bumpy, muddy, and fun and our guides were the BEST! Ryan and Mana were informative and hilarious all while making sure everyone was safe! There were a couple of annoying, rude Karens and Kens who showed up trying to drink right before our tour was getting ready to head out and Mana was very professional in letting them know they wouldn't be joining us. The tour included a handful of stops at beautiful scenic locations where we had a few minutes to take photos or use the restroom while Ryan and Mana gave us info and history about the island. Not only are they great guides, they are "professional button pushers" and hooked up all the good angles for our pics! Thanks Kipu! read more

This was the best thing we did together as a family on Kauai! Kyle and Owen were our guides and made sure everyone had fun while being safe. They had so much to share about the history of the ranch, Hawaii, and the many films made on the property. Even though my teenager couldn't drive, he still had a big muddy smile on his face! We had perfect weather with an overcast afternoon and light wind. We were muddy at the end and so happy for our adventure on some amazing ATV quads. read more

This is my second time doing this tour. This time our whole family of 5 joined in on the fun. Our sons, 18, 11 and 9 had a great time. The tour is so much fun. The land the tour is on is just beyond incredible. The views are some of the most incredible in Kauai. The tour is worth it for the lands alone. The ATVs are very capable and make you feel safe. Our 18yo son drove one of the ATVs and did a great job. Very fun adventure. Our guides Marlin and Giggles were just great. The information about the history of the lands was beautiful to hear. They were such a great team. We recommend this tour to all our friends and family. A must!!! read more

Ryan and cousin Kyle were the best! The ride is so much fun (be prepared for some serious bumps) and the scenery was just beautiful. Ryan and Kyle were wonderful not only sharing the info that was part of the tour, but were able to share so much more info if you just asked. Do NOT wear white or anything you don't want to get dirty - this is one dusty ride. Definitely would recommend and return with the rest of the family! read more

We had a scheduled tour with Kipu Ranch Adventures back in early July 2023. We had a situation that prevented us from making our scheduled tour time. Kipu Ranch was very accommodating and put us on the Waterfall Tour later that day. We had a fantastic time with the friendly guides. We saw a lot of beautiful scenery and heard interesting facts about different movie locations. The highlight for me was learning that one of the mountainside locations we went to was the inspiration for my favourite Disney movie, Lilo and Stitch. Highly recommend and would definitely return. FYI you will get very dusty/muddy, but it will be a blast! read more

Best Hawaiian Activity I have ever done. Mana and Justin were AWESOME Guides!!! Very knowledge about everything on the Island, great personalities, but made sure every one was safe at all times. Tour is a little adventurous, but not a thrill ride. It is a good off the beat and path way to view the beautiful island. If you're not into 15 mile wilderness hikes...you'll enjoy!!! read more

The Kipu Ranch ATV tour was great! We did the 7am 3 hour Ultimate Ranch Tour and had a wonderful time off-roading and seeing the sights. Our tour guides Troy and Giggles were also the best - super kind and made the trip a blast. Everyone meets at the ranch at 6:45am to sign in and get set up with gear. I'd recommend wearing clothes and shoes you don't want to get muddy, along with a healthy dose of bug spray and sunblock. After everyone is geared up, you each get your own 4-person ATV and they teach you the basic of how to use it (very similar to driving an automatic car). After three loops around the training course, you are off on the tour! The tour starts off easy and then the terrain starts to get more interesting. There are hills with large ruts to cross, and a ton of mud! The ATVs are well equipped to handle the terrain though so it's super fun. I'd say the following are highlights from the trip: - Banana bread break - Rope swing from Indiana Jones - ATV going through a stream - View from the top of the mountain Highly recommend for anyone looking for some adventure on Kauai. read more

You came for an ATV ride but you leave with more than you bargained for. With a built-in history lesson, ATV ride, incredible sweeping views, this adventure is one you don't want to miss!! With just enough mud to make it dirty but clean enough for the hair, this adventure is perfect for a solo rider, couples, or family! Our daughter is 11 and she thoroughly enjoyed the ride! Granola snacks and bandanas were provided. This was during covid, so all precautions were in place. Toss in bug spray in your bag, there are some places you'll want it. read more

This was a fantastic time! You must do! You get to see parts of the island that the public can't see unless you do this tour. The side by sides were great, the guides informative and funny, and the scenery is beautiful! We got a little muddy but that was part of the fun! Ask for Ryan & Kai to cruise you around the Kipa Ranch trails and you'll feel like you're hanging out with local friends. I enjoyed that they both share their island's history, mythology and culture along the way. They also point out all the movies that have been filmed on the grounds. The scenery is unforgettable. The side-by-sides run great and you'll be covered in dust at every stop but it'll be 100% worth it! read more

This one of a kind visit is a must if you want to see sights that not everyone can see. Kipu Ranch has access to trails that no other adventure has. If you ever on Kauai and get the chance you definately gotta book one tour with these guys. Best money we spent and was definately worth it. I would recommend bringing a rain jacket in case it gets cold. Well be back for sure. Mahalos to our tour guides Mana & David. read more

This ATV tour was the most phenomenal experience. Every minute of it was pure fun and exhilaration - we even went with a tropical storm on its way, so there were more puddles and mud than usual, and the threat of us not being able to make it to the very top/last stop we were supposed to hit. I never once had the desire to drive, but our tour guides "M&M" (Marlon and Melissa) were full of energy and exceptional teachers. Funny enough, one of my favorite highlights was the safety demonstration. Every moment that we stopped to check out the various sight included tidbits about which movies were filmed here, historical education you couldn't enjoy nearly as much in the classroom, and perfect photo opportunities. Honestly, I could post all my pictures but I'm certain they'd ruin the experience just a little, so make sure you stop by and embrace your wild side! Bring sunscreen and bug spray, and a plastic baggie for your cell-phone if you don't have a weatherproof case. Wear your bathing suit if you feel like going for a dip too! read more

Our day at Kipu Ranch was INCREDIBLE. We did the waterfall UTV tour and we couldn't have had a better time on our one of our Honeymoon adventures. David & Jasper were incredible tour guides that made the trip so enjoyable. We had "Giggles" and Cousin Ryan as our tour guides and they were amazing! They give you granola while going over all instructions and they made my husband and I feel very safe and comfortable. At each stop they educated us on what we were looking at and at the end of the tour gave us great food recommendations. Could not recommend this tour more, such beautiful views. read more

Great family event- Would be 5 stars, but I have ridden ATVs all my life and hate guided tours. Marlon "as in Brando" & surpisingly strong and daring Ryan were exceptional and fun tour guides. I almost wanted to ride in the ATV with the guides because they actually went more places. The guides even parked on the more interesting things to give the non-driving riders more of a thrill. We went for the swimming tour with the rope swing and water fall. Honestly... as a guy used to driving ATVs and feeling "confined" on the tour- swinging on the Indiana Jones rope swing and seeing the massive bamboo next to a cool pic waterfall was the highlight. Plus, getting a pic of my niece "running over" her fiance... is the pic I show the most & gets the most feedback on. (optical illusion thanks to the guides). I would do this again with beginner & novice ATV riders who I want to get pics of and enjoy a few hours on a adventure. The sandwich and chips were OK. The cans of Hawaiian punch and water were good. Buy a "Red Dirt Shirt" before the adventure and get it stained even more. The red dust gets everywhere. I would suggest wearing dark swimsuits underneath with dark bottoms. read more

This really was an adventure! Took the 4 hour waterfall ATV tour in the afternoon. Unfortunately, Kaua'i was in a drought and the waterfalls were not cooperating... BUT, I had a great time taking pictures of breathtaking scenery (Jurassic Park!) , I swung off the Indiana Jones rope into a river and swam around in the river, and I pet a wild boar! I would have loved to have swam under a waterfall, but we couldn't. The water (due to the drought) was brackish and full of mosquitos. DON'T forget your insect repellant! They aren't kidding. I had to cover my legs from ankle to knee in calamine lotion for a few days after I got back. Lunch was yummy and in a pretty area surrounded by guava trees. We picked and ate them off the tree! Lots of feral cats, they beg for food but are cute. Pricy tour, but occasionally offer discounts. I made many memories and have cool things to tell. The tour guides were really helpful, friendly, and funny. They spent a lot of time teaching people who never rode before, so you don't have to know how. Plus, they provided opportunities to stop and take pictures. I liked it a lot, but my honey thought it wasn't as adventurous driving as he would have liked since the people in front of us were new at it and going slow. Fantastic tour!!! Marlon and Kai Kea (?) were amazing guides! They were both incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and you could tell they enjoy sharing the stories of the island with visitors. The scenery was amazing! The tour group does a great job keeping you safe and teaching you what you need to know, but still offering challenging trails. I had an absolute blast and I have rode 4 wheelers my whole life! We did the waterfall tour and not only got to see some amazing sights but also drive some pretty technical terrain in a very safe and controlled environment. If you are into even just one of: movie tours, scenery, Hawaiian culture, off-roading, adventure, or outdoors, you have it! This is both a great opportunity for new off-roaders to learn & gain some skills and highly experienced ones like myself to enjoy a decently technical trail system. Our guides (Kyle and Kemu) were excellent and maintained both a highly professional and fun, laid back atmosphere. A note to those considering-if it is rainy at all, wear old clothes you are okay with potentially throwing away-there is no avoiding the mud! This was super fun for us but others might need the heads up. Also, if you choose the waterfall tour be prepared to potentially not swim depending on weather conditions. read more

I highly recommend them especially with the brothers Ryan and Keemo (I'm sorry if I spelled your name wrong ) as your guide! They are incredibly funny keeping your attention with their witty comments while also giving a very informative history of Kauai. They also make the tour very interactive giving you a chance to try some of the plants that we see growing around the island. The views on the tour are spectacular and if you're worried about safety you won't have to worry about it with them. They know how to make sure they dot their I's and cross their T's on safety! It's a pretty solid train ride that gives you a view of the whole estate, including a number of the crops that were grown on Kauai, including sugarcane and bananas. Near the end of the tour, there's also an opportunity to feed the farm animals, which was a big hit with the kids! You can feed the horses, cows, and pigs. Located at the end of Maalo Road, this beautiful double waterfall cannot be safely or legally…read moreaccessed due to the notoriously steep, muddy, and very slick unmaintained trail down. But you can however view it safely from the designated roadside lookout. The parking lot here, although free, is very small and often filled to the brim with cars. The lot itself is also in desperate need of maintenance as it is filled with potholes, so getting in and out may be tricky. There are also vendors who fill up the front part of this lot, which further add to the chaos. Located in a sacred royal valley once known as the capital of Kauai, ancient Hawaiian chieftains and warriors use to test their bravery by leaping from the top of this nearly 200ft tall waterfall. There's not a lot to do once you get up to the top of the lookout except to snap a few photos. So it is debatable if it is worth the drive all the way out to here and dealing with the whole parking lot situation.

Boarding the boat was easily accessed down a ramp, and helping hands were available to step onto and down into the benched seating area. Along the journey, our narrator was full of interesting information, facts, trivia, and sprinkled it all with fun-loving doses of humor. There was also vibe-setting live music. We watched kayakers paddle down river as we enjoyed the ease of working our way upriver. Once we arrived at the grotto dock, everyone disembarked and took a short walk up along a smooth path. A side path led off to restrooms. The beautiful jungle foliage was all around us. Tall trees, long vines, and bird song surrounded us we walked up to the viewing platform of the grotto. Once there, the ancient and more recent history and cultural significance of the grotto was shared with us. Additionally, we were treated to beautiful traditional music played at weddings, of which they are a venue. Again, the information was fascinating. The grotto itself is a cave opening at the base of a cliff face. A stream of water flows over the top, feeding into a creek, and ferns grow out from all the crevices. It is a very serene place filled with the gentle sound of running water. On the way back, we were again treated to the talented musicians' playing, singing, and hula dancing. A tip jar was available. Disembarkation was very smooth. I really enjoyed the entirety of the trip. I felt like it was a great value for the ticket price. I would certainly recommended this to anyone who enjoys easy-access to nature and traditional and cultural insight.

Aloha. Let me get right to the point. This excursion at Kipu Ranch was one of the best family trips we've ever done. Seriously, I would put it at the top of the list next to our epic snowmobile trip into Yellowstone park. And I don't take this lightly as we've done some next-level adventure trips of all kinds in different places and this is at the top. Let me get into the details. Once you check in, they offer free coffee, tea and other basic refreshments and gave us a small snack bag and handkerchief as we waited for the group to assemble. After the initial safety briefing, our guides-cousin Kai and cousin Giggles (they are related), took us on our journey. After getting used to driving the ATV, we started heading into the backcountry. That's where the fun began. During the different areas of terrain, stops were made at each location and both guides explained the history and all the other noteworthy items. I was really impressed with the knowledge and familiarity with the numerous properties movie scenes that had been filmed there and the history behind the family that currently owns it. We also went through several different terrain areas that included muddy trails, streams and puddles, rocky roads, hills, jungle and even a hike to a waterfall. The trip lasted about 2 hours and everyone had a great time and the conditions were favorable. If you are unprepared or need anything, they have a gift shop with all kinds of things you may need. They also offer military discounts so check ahead. All in all, the guides were very friendly and they went above and beyond to accommodate pictures and even told us about some local places to eat. 10 out of 10! If you want to have an epic adventure, check this out. You won't be disappointed. read more

Our family had an absolutely unforgettable experience with Kipu Ranch Adventures on February 12, 2026! From start to finish, this ATV tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Kauai. The trails were nothing short of breathtaking--lush greenery, rugged terrain, and stunning views that truly showcased the natural beauty of the island. Riding through the ranch felt like stepping into a movie scene, and the added waterfall stop was pure magic. It was the perfect chance to take in the scenery, cool off, and create some amazing family memories. What really made this experience exceptional, though, was the incredible team of guides. They went above and beyond to make sure everyone felt comfortable and confident. My wife was a bit nervous at first, but they took the time to reassure her, explain everything clearly, and check in throughout the ride. By the end, she was having just as much fun as the rest of us! They were also unbelievably patient and supportive with our three daughters, making sure they felt safe and included every step of the way. WOW! By far the BEST TOUR KAUAI HAS TO OFFER. My husband, daughter and another family visited Kauai over Thanksgiving break. I didn't realize until we got to the island that this tour was even available. Although the tours were at capacity, the owner, Antone was genuine and extremely accommodating and was able to provide a private 2 hour highlight tour for our group. We had Owen as our tour guide and he was just fantastic and super knowledgable. Not only did we get to drive the Teryx KRX1000 and Teryx4 sport side x sides (I'm a huge fan of Kawasaki ), but we learned so much about the history of the land, Hollywood movie facts, and got to take in some of the most incredible views the island has to offer...including double rainbows, peacocks, cows and hillsides you only dream of seeing. This tour truly went above and beyond our expectations. It was the best way to end our family vacation and made it so much more memorable. A MUST do! Also, if you're worried about safety - don't be. The staff at Kipu Ranch has everyone's safety in mind at all times and abide by all the CDC and Covid guidelines. Friendly disclaimer...be sure to wear clothes and shoes you don't mind getting dirty and bring towels in case it rains or you get muddy. I rode with Kipu Ranch Adventures on Sep 3, 2018 (Labor Day). It was part of my 70th birthday celebration/bucket list trip. What a serendipitous choice by me!! I rode as a passenger (wanted free hands/ to take photos even while on the move) with their most experienced (17 yrs) guide, Troy, and 2 other passengers. A very talkative, personable, friendly & funny group. Troy was an encyclopedia of Kipu Ranch/Kaua'i/Hawai'i knowledge, all imparted with stories & "groaner" jokes. Safety came 1st with Troy & fellow guide, Ryan. That impresses me because I worked in safety as part of my job for many yrs before retiring. We went on the 0700 tour, something I highly recommend because the temps are cooler & the humidity less intense. You WILL get muddy! Wear sensible off-roading clothes. The views/sights are stunning, especially because you see things normally off limits. Even just 2% of islanders have seen those places. We had perfect weather, which enhanced our experience. We had such an amazing time on our ATV tour at Kipu Ranch Adventures! From the moment we started, everything ran smoothly and felt perfectly organized. Our guides, Marlon and his cousin Kimo, were incredibly professional, super knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the land and its history. They shared so much fascinating information about the ranch, the island's past, Hawaiian culture, and the beautiful surroundings as we rode through the trails. It made the whole experience so enriched with the background. Booked a tour and had Mana and Mikey guide us around. Couldnt have had a better time with them sharing stories and their experiences. The tour guides you through an amazing ranch on the south side of the island that is home to many movie shots. One of the spots we stopped at was the opening scene of Indiana Jones at the Huleia stream where there is a rope swing where you can swing into the river and swim around for a while. After that you ride up to a waterfall picnic. The whole ATV drive was a blast with rocky/uneven trails to drive on with breathtaking views of the landscape. The last stop is at yet another waterfall with an awesome tropical feel. Definitely wear sunscreen/bugspray but dont let that shy you away from this incredible experience. You will get a little spray of mud here and there but they supply a souvenir bandana, plus you get to borrow a helmet and goggles to keep you protected. Mana and Mikey are the best btw! Went on the Waterfall tour yesterday. The experience was 10 out of 10!!! Everyone in our crew of 8 (5 adults & 3 teens) had an awesome time. The ladies at the check-in station were super friendly and efficient so check-in was a breeze. Our guides Ryan and Kalii (aka Bobo) were the absolute best. They were so friendly, informative, and raised the experience to the top level! The views were spectacular and the bonus of trying some wild strawberry guava was a special treat. To top it all off - swimming in the waterfall pool at the end was a perfect way to complete the tour with the added bonus of washing off all the dust :) The crews at the cleanup station and checkout were friendly and organized. Everyone was wonderful. The care and concern they all had for not only ensuring everyone on the tour had a memorable experience but they were always watching out for our safety and coaching us on how to stay that way! We had the BEST time on our ranch tour with guides Josh and Owen last week. My mom and I are more of the adventurous type of traveler (hiking, repelling, zip-lining), and our ATV ride exceeded all expectations - hands-down our favorite thing we did at our week-long trip to Kauai. The guides were attentive, knowledgeable, and funny, and ensured we were safe and confident while driving throughout the trails. The tour feels like the perfect amount of time (though I could've driven all day long!), and the views were gorgeous and diverse, and we even enjoyed some mud following rain from the previous day. My wife and I had the great pleasure of trying out the individual ATV's for the first time under the tutelage of Mark and Marlin. The tour is labeled as intermediate, which I guess some parts are, but it is more like a guided tour rather than a full out ATV wild ride in HI. There is some initial training and a training hill to make sure you are comfortable on the ATV's. We did the 4 hour tour with the waterfall stops which was great even though the April water was a little chilly the experience and pictures were well worth it. The land, views, ride, and leadership were wonderful. I can't say enough great things about this excursion. Also, depending on timing, the coffee plantation is only 20 min away to get a great start to the day if you go in the morning. read more

Ryan and Mark were our Tour guides. Hats off to both of these young me. There attention to detail, safety presentation, training, and outgoing personalities set the tone for a stellar and fun adventure! From the time we left "the ranch," it was not only a tour, but a great history lesson on Kauai, the islands and Hawaiian culture. We did the 4 hour waterfall ATV tour and it was great. Our guides, Troy and Mana were wonderful! The ride itself was so much fun and the scenery is spectacular! A couple of "tips": 1. If you are a couple and would like to take pictures while riding (which I recommend) choose the Rhino, even the two seater 4 wheeler wont allow pics while moving. And the Rhino is a blast, no way you could have more fun on a 4-wheeler. 2. Where a brown shirt, I did this by accident, however it worked well, couldn't see the Red Dirt dust at all. 3. Bug spray is a must at the waterfall. I know that may sound like a negative but it's really not, just a fair warning. 4. Have a blast! 11/10 recommend the Kipu Ranch off road ATV tour. We enjoyed experiencing the beauty of the garden island by traversing trails in an ATV led by our guides Kipo and Kimo. (These guys are hilarious and so easy to talk to. You would have thought comedy was their primary job.) We loved learning the story and history of the land we were so fortunate to explore and hearing stories of the movies filmed on site. But most of all LOVED getting dirty and the feeling of the wind rushing by as we ripped through the trail system. Kipu Ranch provides bandanas (used to cover our mouth and nose), goggles, and helmets. There were plenty of picture ops and lots of laughs. The time absolutely flew by so make sure to savor every moment. read more

I took my sister and friend and we had a blast on the Signature Tour going to see the sites of Jurassic Park, Lilo and Stitch, Decedents and etc... Was super fun to drive and see all of the amazing and special places in on the ranch! Not only that our tour guides, James and Justin were so knowledgeable of the site and we got to learn some rich history and origin of the ranch itself. It truly is a breathtaking and special place to see and less than 2% of the locals really get to see it. You can tell these guys truly live and breath the passion and respect they have for the culture and the land. I am so happy they were able to share that with us on such a fun adventure. P.S. FUN for everyone!! Such a rare, wonderful and adventurous way to experience the beauty of the island, while learning fun movie facts, driving a 4x4, swimming in waterfalls, and providing a once In a lifetime adventure for the whole family!! We are a family of five, kids ages 12, 16 and 17 and while Mom and Dad were the drivers, about half way through two of our kids decided that it would be more fun and they would feel safer riding with one of the guides so they jumped in with Giggles and he provided the fun facts and experienced driving!! The location was stunning. Our guides were fantastic (Joshua and Marlin). Truly they were amazing, so I don't want that to be tainted by what I'm about to say, but the actual tour was very MEH. Like just above boring. Mostly because of the abundance of stoppage time. Out of a three hour tour, we were probably actually off-roading for maybe one hour of it. And often slow at that. Otherwise stopped for safety checks (which take a LONG LONG time in a big group, we had twelve vehicles), or sightseeing, movie locations, etc. We went on the "signature" tour, so maybe the VIP one would be more of the fun and adventure? But then again, it's double the price. read more

SOOOOOO FUN! Our guides were Ryan and his Brother, excellent guides with a great sense of humor and interesting information re. Kauai's history! You WILL get dirty so plan a shower after the tour...the orange dirt gets EVERYWHERE and we loved it - we had to take 2 showers. They give you bandanas and goggles you should use and the ride is bumpy which was my favorite part. The ranch is beautiful and they stop a few times for pictures and to give you some Kauai history. The last stop is a waterfall, use your bug spray prior to heading down...you can hop in if you want...just amazing! We left wanting more -in a good way. read more

My husband and I came to Kauai for our honeymoon and this was our first adventure, and by far, one of our favorites. Kipu Ranch Adventures made the process of booking seamless, informing us of exactly what we needed and what to expect. We did the waterfall tour and had Mona and Giggles as our guides. They made sure everyone was safe all while off-roading in locations many people will never experience. They're informative, educating and humor made the trip that much more special. This was our first ATV tour ever, and we couldn't have hoped for a better experience! Ryan and Moke were some of the best guides of our entire trip. They were knowledgeable and fun and made sure that everyone was having a safe and great time. We did the Ultimate 3-hour Ranch Tour, and it was just spectacular. The scenery was gorgeous, and it was such a privilege to visit some of those beautiful and difficult to access views. We would definitely recommend this to anyone, and we hope to visit Kauai again so we can do another of Kipu Ranch's tour, especially the BBQ tour! read more

This one I'm going to have to file under one of the hardest things I've done in my life! But I'm so…read moreproud we accomplished this and did this! So many people talk about kayaking the Wailua River and hiking to Secret Falls. We didn't get a chance to do this on our last trip, but my youngest and I tackled this on this trip! Our guide, Ronda, arrived a couple minutes after our tour start time at 1pm. The morning guide said she'd be along "in island time." Once she got there, she took the time to tell us a little about herself, went around our group and had us each introduce ourselves and share a few words. She took the time to memorize all of our names! She also explained to us as all the other tours were heading out, that she liked to hang back and let everyone go do their thing so we can experience the falls privately as just our group. This girl knows what she's doing! It was about a two mile kayaking journey up the Wailua River with stops intermittently along the way for our "kayak kisses" so Ronda could tell us about the history and other aspects of the island. We were almost in our own little version of Survivor, thinking up ways we could survive out there and what we would need. It was honestly very cool. Once we got the end of the kayaking journey, we were given walking sticks for the moderate 1 mile hike to Secret Falls. There are a couple of areas where you have to cross through water, but nothing higher than the knees, at that time. The hike was beautiful! Ronda pointed out the Hawaiian Woodrose, kukui nuts, which we got to crack open and have a small sample, we washed our hands with awapuhi from the awapuhi plant, etc. it was such a cool adventure. We met the local songbird and dug to find worms for him to eat. He ate right from our hands! He actually landed on my hand and looked at me for a couple seconds! We saw cows on the journey home as well. Secret Falls is amazing. We had a blast swimming around there and resting from the journey. We met a lot of great people in our tour. It was like we all became a little family. We packed up and hiked back to our kayaks and headed back down the Wailua for the journey home. This time the wind was against us, so it was literally like paddling upstream both ways lol! This was such an amazing experience. I'm sure I'm leaving some things out because there was so much! I would say, if you're doing the 1pm tour, don't have any other plans the rest of the day. You don't want to be in a rush to get out of there. Our 5 hour tour ended up being close to 7 hours. It was nice because on the way back the motorized vessels were no longer on the river, so we didn't have to worry about other traffic. I'd also recommend having dinner for that night figured out ahead of time because most places locally close at 8pm. We were able to grab dinner from a spot about 10 minutes prior to their closing. They recommend tennis shoes or hiking boots, but my daughter and I used our water socks/reef shoes and while there were a couple times when we were bouldering I would have liked to have better shoes, ultimately it wasn't an issue. Ronda gives you an opportunity to unplug from the world, get yourself on island time, and take in all the beauty Kauai has to offer. Take it!

Its a more budget friendly option but you don't need to drive your kayak to the river, its just a short walk. Before launching, the owner gave us a quick and helpful presentation on where to go and how to handle the kayaks. Just note there is an additional $5 per person river fee (or a state park fee). The trip involves about two miles of kayaking and a mile-long hike each way. Because the trail has lots of rocks, muddy areas, crossing a river and roots, I wouldn't recommend it for small kids or anyone who isn't relatively fit. Overall, the equipment was excellent, the staff was great and we highly recommend it!

Our guide for the day was "K-man". He was awesome! He had a great personality, was very knowledgeable and was funny. He was also great with names; he remembered everyone's, and he made it a point to make conversation with everyone single one of us. Our adventure started off by meeting at the office/pick up location. Then we loaded up into a van and made the short drive to the slipway. There we selected kayaks and were given oars and life jackets. Once we got situated, we hit the water. The weather that day was perfect; the sun was out with some clouds, and there was a light, constant breeze. Our journey on the water was a beautiful one. The water was cool, the scenery was green. I'll admit, the kayaking distance was a bit challenging. Maybe a bit more so as my husband and I are competitive and we were nearly racing with another couple. LOL! Once we reached shore, we gathered up and made our way to the hiking path. Honestly, the hike itself is not hard, with the exception of a few spots that may require teamwork/assistance. (**READ TIPS BELOW) Once we reached the waterfall, most of us went into the water. We stayed there for about 20-30 minutes. Our guide never rushed us. He sat back and let us enjoy ourselves. It was only when we all gathered up again that we headed back, same hike in reverse back to the kayaks. Once in the kayaks it was the same way back as well. The scenery was VERY beautiful. Several pictures were taken. Overall we had a great day. We would definitely recommend to anyone who has never been to Kauai and to anyone who is interested in being surrounded by beautiful scenery. TIPS: - [ ] Wear good shoes! The terrain can be unstable due to river rocks, tree roots, mud, and uneven ground. Your feet WILL get soaked and the ground is unstable. My husband and I both opted to wear sneakers that we were ready to retire. When we were done we threw them away. Another couple wore aqua shoes and they said they were extremely uncomfortable: good for water, bad for the rough terrain. Another couple wore brand new hiking boots and they became water logged. - [ ] Wear sunscreen!! Even if it's overcast, the harsh island sun will magnify through the clouds. - [ ] Sunglasses and a hat/visor is a wise choice. **if you wear a hat or visor, it may create a blind spot. Keep your head up! One person in our group hit their head twice on the same tree branch! - [ ] Wear clothing you can get wet. You will get wet from the waist down from the kayaking and hike. - [ ] Wear swimwear underneath your clothing. When you get to the waterfall, there is a pool of water you are able to swim in. - [ ] Bring a backpack/secure bag with water and snacks! You will need it! - [ ] Bring towels and leave them in the car. At the end of the day, when stripping off your wet shoes and socks the towels come in handy. *** For reference, our groups ages ranged from 52 to approximately early 70's.

Our guide Kyle was amazing! Since it was off season, he took about 8 persons, 2 tandam kayaks. One guide can take 12 persons maximum. It was great that our group was smaller. The Wailua River is really serene and calm, so both persons forward paddle, versus the back person back paddling in more rapids like Colorado or Sacramento River. We paddled 1 mile to the hiking, and 1 mile back. My arms were a little sore afterwards. The highlight is the hike to the water fall, which is about 0.2 mi in, 0.2 mi out, however it took about 30-40 min one way. Some areas are bush whacking, river crossing (bring water shoes like Teva), some very muddy so you have to slow down, some have wood planks built. When you the to the waterfall, it is gorgeous, and we packed our own lunch to enjoy for about 30-40 minutes at the falls. There were no bugs as we went in mid-January. Morning tours are more cold, so bring a light wind jacket or rain jacket. Afternoon tours are warmer, but you risk having bugs and sunburn. Our guide Kyle, has been feeding this bird along the hiking path for 8 years. He is tame and will come for photos. I'm a bird feeder and watcher, so major kudos to Kyle! The scenery of the hike and kayak trip was surreal and will blow your mind. The photos don't do it justice. You will take a van from kayak launch at Wailua River about 3 minutes back to base camp. Kayak Wailua provides you a water proof bag for your belongings, and a cooler bag for your lunch. They also have a locker for other stuff you don't want to bring along.
