    40. House Ramen

Let's begin by the sushi bar, well the makeshift sushi bar. The prep person did NOT practice safety. Cross contamination everywhere. Same gloves to touch and prepare different customers food, yuk. Also, I ordered Ramen soup and it was NOT what we I expected. It was prepared with what appeared to be prepackaged ramen noodles from the packet. It had veggies that one will use for stir free. The incorrect beef and no egg. The worst experience every. Please skip this place. To add, it was 93 degrees outside and it felt like 80 degrees inside. The air conditioning was not cool at all. Over priced soup!

Went in for lunch and ordered a 3 roll sushi lunch special. There was an ordering issue with their website and was quick to address it and take care of my order in 10 minutes. They were even kind enough to switch out my yellowtail roll to a tuna avocado roll. Place is pickup only and covid/sanitation compliance looks fantastic. I ordered a spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon roll, and tuna avocado roll which came with a salad. The salad dressing was a ginger soy sesame type of dressing that many sushi places utilize. It has a refreshing and clean taste. The salad consists only of lettuce and strips of carrots and purple stuff (forget the name of it). The sushi was large and had great portions of protein. There was significantly more rice than what I would normally prefer in my sushi rolls but the amount of protein compensates and the flavor profile of the sushi still stands. The rice was much more sticky than usual and did not have the consistency I am used to having at many other sushi restaurants but I would not say it detracted from the experience. If anything, it could make it easier for people who have difficulty dipping their sushi in soy sauce and having it fall apart. The spicy salmon and spicy tuna both had great flavor. It would be great if they added a spicy crunch tuna and salmon to their lineup. The tuna in the tuna avocado was much more darker than I usually see and it did not look as visually appealing. The flavor of the tuna avocado was slightly more muted than usual. I would assume that quality control of protein could be improved in the future. Overall my meal satisfied my sushi craving for the day and I would be interested in trying more food in the future.

    Hibachi combo

I don't know what kind of person packs vegetable hibachi with vegetable tempura so the tempura gets all soggy but ew. Besides packing the flavors we're just horrible. Not what I'd expect at all since I've ordered sushi a few times here. Told the girl who took my order "no meat" but look at the fried rice with a huge piece of chicken. Order here if you like bad food and wasting your money to get gross food.

This is a small, but cozy Japanese restaurant with about 5 small tables. Overall, my friend and I enjoyed our meal. However, please note that the food is not authentic Japanese food, and is more of the california roll and teriyaki variety. With that in mind, it was very filling and tasty. They also have very reasonable prices. If you come during lunch time, they have a teriyaki bento box that comes with a california roll and rice and salad. Or, you can go for the hibachi special with your choice of protein with rice. Both come with a small soup as well and are only around $10-$11. We ending up having one of each. This is definitely a great deal for the amount and quality of food that you get.

It's a pretty good sushi place at Bronx!!!! I'm surprised how good tastes and services! I ordered Party plates for 33 sushi and 4 rolls for 3 adults and a little girl.

Ordered the Crunchy Lobster Roll, a eel Tempura roll, and a Spicy Girl. All of the rolls were fresh and deliciously made. The spicy girl featured masego in vibrant colors and the other two rolls were equally as tasty with no complaints other than the wish that there was more!

My friend was craving sushi so we found a place in the area and this one was the closest. It wasn't busy for lunch but I bet they had a lot of take-out orders. These types of places are deceiving because they may not look busy but people generally are accustomed to order takeout from here. We went with the shrimp tempura and veggie tempura to start. The shrimp tempura had 3 shrimp on it. Not sure if that was a full order but they mixed them in with the veggies. For sushi I always like to keep it simple. I went with the spicy tuna and spicy salmon. Both solid. Overall, the meal was what I expected. 3 stars all the way.

Rice on the sushi roll is anemic, however it is very tasty. No complaints thus far! It is located in a neighborhood Business Improvement District so there after lunch/dinner dessert options nearby (PeachWave or Carvel). If you order edamame, its very lightly salted, so ask for an imcrease in the salt content it you want it saltier. Otherwise, its a nice spot.

Almost in 6 pieces? What do you mean "almost"? It's either 6 pieces or not! Hahaha.

I've eaten before and every time I have came here the waitress and people were nice to me. Very nice and I never had a problem. Also, I am a resident of the Bronx and besides Hawaiian Sea, there's not many great sushi spots in this borough, unfortunately. So I'm being generous and giving it a 3 when I should give it a 2. Food: I don't remember what I had but the times I have come here I hate my ass off with tons of different sushi and the stir fried rice. In short, it's nothing to write home about but if you live in the area and don't feel like going to far away to get really good sushi, then you won't go wrong here. It's not fantastic, its not great but I have experienced better...A lot better. Service: My experience with the people here like I mentioned, was always good. They were always nice and attentive and the service was always great. I have no complaints here. Decor: I would say this is my favorite part of this restaurant. It's dimly lit, pretty big, and has a nice intimate atmosphere. There used to be a nice little pagoda awning out in front but that's been taken down so it loses some points with me on that. The place still is very nice, has a "woods" like feel to it in a way and seems very clean. If you can imagine it, it looks like a discotque in the middle of a forest. The ceiling lights are multicolored and the rest of the decor has log paneling and all that stuff. Can't explain it. Overall, its not the best place to get sushi but not the worst and nothing you'll miss out on. One of my shorter reviews because I'm tired, very, very tired but felt the need to do a review.

I thought it was time to try the last sushi restaurant within reasonable driving distance. I wanted to see which was the best. Being adventurous is cool, too, but I have no desire to be as dorky as Rachael Ray (financially obese? Yes!). Of the three dine-in sushi restaurants (the other two are Yamada http://www.yelp.com/biz/yamada-bronx and Sushi Q http://www.yelp.com/biz/sushi-q-bronx) in the Bronx that I am aware of, Kiraku has the cutest decor. However, with a no alcohol (BYOB policy), it's difficult to wait for my food. Ever endure Chinese Water Torture? Ever watch "40 Days & 40 Nights?" Ok, the wait is not that bad, but there is no convenience store within a 1 block radius to pick up any beer. The sushi was fresh (see photos) and we enjoyed our sashimi plate and specialty rolls. However, parking in that area can be tricky and I don't live in walking distance. I will just request for a delivery in the future. There was one waitress and the service was slow. For those who live in Morris Park, this is your only bet for sushi. I guess it's better than nothing (there are a handful of Italian restaurants though). IFHTP 1

Overall, I really cannot wait to go back to Zhongzhong noodles and I hope that they open up more locations. I also enjoy the kitchen apps and entrées- the miso eggplant and agedashi tofu are great appetizers. The salmon teriyaki is always perfectly cooked and accompanied by fresh vegetables. As other reviewers have mentioned- the construction of the rolls can suffer at times- for me this usually looks like 1 at most 2 pieces losing their integrity when I pick them up. My friends and I agree that this is Riverdale, not A sushi hotspot desitation and we would rather sacrifice a point on the physical construction /proper sushi technique than go somewhere else that has beautiful perfectly rolled sushi- with less fresh fish or rolls that are more rice than filling. Also- the sushi IS good! I usually go for salmon, tuna and a sweet potato tempura roll The lunch specials (monday-saturday until 3:15 pm) are a really good deal and come with pretty good miso soup and a fresh side salad. I am appreciative that they run a little later in the day as well. Aoyu has always been very reasonable abt modifications- there is no upcharge for brown rice for lunch bento- easy to request veggie instead of pork gyoza, and I really don't like crab- imitation or otherwise- so they always let me sub a cucumber avocado roll instead. For my tapas options I went with some Arancini and Zucchini flowers. I didn't want too much to eat after having such a huge breakfast. The arancini was flavorless but really good with the marinara sauce it came with, and to my surprise the zucchini flowers were amazing. It was piping hot, crispy with the most intense cheese pull, served with some spicy sauce and marinara as well. I went back and forth with dipping them into each condiment. At the tail end of Covid they pivoted to include Seafood Boils as an option. Not a fan of boils so unsure how that option is going. Another option, Hibachi, which we also are not big fans of, unless forced upon us by friends or family. Is prepared on these red glowing tables and appears to appeal to the masses, so that's a good thing. During our visits, generally on the early side of dinner hours, service has always been attentive and our meals, most often than not are prepared as expected. There has been the occasional slight hiccup while dining in or when ordering for delivery, but nothing major. The aesthetics of this place continues to appeal with their colorful facade.
