The sourdough has a hearty crust and a soft and moist center. Absolutely loved it. Wished I could had time to buy a loaf to bring back with me. Guava and cheese danish: I wished I bought more. The guava tasted so good! The danish was flaky. The cheese wasn't cloying. I could have eaten at least two more. My next visit to the Bay I'm definitely coming back.

We split their zucchini and ricotta tart for a savory bite and the chocolate croissant as a baseline comparison vs. other bakeries we've tried. Both were super buttery and flakey, and I was quite impressed by the lamination on the croissant. My favorite bite had to be the tart, though -- the slightly sweet fresh zucchini went wonderfully with the buttery pastry and rich, creamy ricotta. The zucchini was tender but still had a bit of snap to it, which made for a fun combo of textures. There's not really any space to sit inside, but you can take your pastries out to one of the tables outside. It does get pretty crowded over the weekend, so you might have to get pretty lucky with your timing to snag a table.

There's not really seating here -- no tables and just a couple of uncomfortably high barstools, so this is the kind of spot you pop into to get your goods and then walk over to the nearby park. The sourdough samples were very tasty. All the baked items here seem to have a nice moisture level and developed flavor. We'll be back to try out some of their savory items next time!

Wildly know for the super cute jar cakes, GK Pastry is so much more than that. Here you can find both savory and sweet focaccias, artisan sourdough breads, and an assortment of pastries. A few things I have tried: * Olive & Parmesan Sourdough * Pesto & Mozzarella Focaccia * Shiitake Mushroom and Gruyere Cheese Focaccia * Artichoke & Goat Cheese Focaccia * Beef Samsa Everything is so damn good!! Let me emphasize on "EVERYTHING". This joint is a sourdough carb lovers dream!! GK prides themselves on using only the freshest, organic, & natural ingredients. And if that already wasn't enough, there is so much quality and love behind each and every product made. Pricing is high but it is 100% justified. 5/5 stars, I'd enjoy these baked goods on the daily if that was remotely possible! This place comes highly recommended and if these high remarks don't do it for you... I'm sure the generous samples will! You're welcome in advance!

They had a display of baked items at the window and a Chalkboard sign. I saw a ham and cheese croissant and was immediately sold. The young man worked at the window was polite and welcoming. I had time to kill but wasn't too hungry so naturally I ate something ‍ BEST HAM AND CHEESE CROISSANT I HAVE HAD IN SOMETIME! No, really. It's simple but easily messed up by most places that have them. Flaky, ham was thin and broke apart easily, the cheese and inner soft portion mixed together was superb. I sat quietly and munched! I overheard regulars saying it was unusually quiet and not the norm? Regardless it was peaceful! Shades triangles above the picnic table, the side under the tree was occupied but I was happy where I was. I'm going to have to return with my wife at some point and even when I'm in the area I'll make it a point to stop over.

The location was the farmer's market in palo alto. Everything, and i mean everything was old. We trust them so we only found out in the car the bread was at least a day old, the pastries were old. We went at 9am, there is simply no excuse. We had to do a detour through Manresa to save our brunch and had to buy everything again. Unless i hear back and get a compensation for our almost $40 spend our business with you guys is sadly over.

I finally had some free time this afternoon. I picked up the kouign amann, Paris Brest and the lemon tart from Barbara that were set aside for me. I couldn't wait to sink my teeth in the kouign amann and its laminated buttery layers with a hint of sweetness was perfect! You've made my day! It was airy and light. I'm waiting to share the other sweet treats with my parents later this evening. Thank you for surprising me with the lemon choice. Barbara - it was really wonderful to meet you! Service with a smile and happy to chat for a bit about Brazil! Muito obrigada! Daniel - you've been simply amazing! I can't thank you enough for being so gracious and kind. I actually like this store location over the Palo Alto store. Downtown Menlo Park is so very lucky to have you! I'll definitely come back here next time!

HEALTH CODE VIOLATIONS!!!…read more I am writing this review to both warn other customers and so that management sees this. I was at the MP location earlier this week and saw not one but TWO health code violations committed by employees. First, one of the ladies was drinking out of an open cup at the front where the food and beverages are prepared. This is against the health code! 113977. (a) Except as specified in subdivision (b), an employee shall eat or drink only in designated areas where contamination of nonprepackaged food; clean equipment, utensils, and linens; unwrapped single-use articles; or other items needing protection cannot result. (b) A food employee may drink from a closed beverage container if the container is handled to prevent contamination of the employee's hands, the container, nonprepackaged food, and food-contact surfaces. The employee (brown hair in a ponytail, wearing grey Adidas) was frequently drinking a pink drink from a clear open cup behind the counter where the pastries are! Also, I saw the male employee behind the counter sneeze and use his bare hand to cover his sneeze. He rubbed his nose and sniffed. I was watching him from my table to make sure that he washed his hands. He went over to the sink behind the cash register and I kid you not, he turned on the water and for literally ONE SECOND put his hands under it. He then wiped his hands together to dry them. HE DID NOT USE SOAP TO WASH HIS HANDS AFTER SNEEZING INTO THEM!!!! Article 4. Handwashing 113953.3. (a) (2) After touching bare human body parts other than clean hands and clean, exposed portions of arms. (5) After coughing, sneezing, using a handkerchief or disposable tissue, using tobacco, eating, or drinking. He then went back to work grabbing customers' pastries. I'd really love for management to please have a word with staff/review training and protocols - please don't respond to this review with the canned "Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have addressed this with our staff and we will take your comments into consideration." Please actually DO SOMETHING and ensure that all of your staff follow proper health code laws! Thank you!! :D

I had a tiny cup of pineapple-sweetened coleslaw for $6, not mind-blowing though. For dessert I had a flawless cherry crumble, heated with a scoop of ice cream. I paid about $50 for this lunch. We always ask for a table with chairs because I have back problems and can't sit in their totally worn booths and the host has never had a problem with that request. But yesterday the regular host wasn't there and we were told they were busy and we had to sit at the counter or in a booth because they didn't want to put us the two of us at a table for four (there were two tables available). We waited for nearly ten minutes and when I asked again if we could sit at one of the tables was almost rudely told no, they were busy. So we left and went to Joanie's on California Avenue. They were also busy but immediately seated us and we had a much better lunch. Sometimes it's good to change things up as we'd forgotten how kind and attentive all the of the staff are at Joanie's and how much better the food was. And both of our plates of food came out hot and perfectly cooked which doesn't always happen at the Creamery. I guess we just eat there for the memories. My husband said none of the staff at the Creamery seem happy except for the host so if we don't see him seating the guests, we'll just go to Joanie's.
