I finally let him pull it, he threw it in the tray and walked away. The assistant picked it up and showed me the infection on the roots. I knew it was infected because the pain would go down when I took antibiotics for other conditions. I found a new dentist after that. He was able to save teeth that I thought were going to have to be pulled due to the poor work of a prior dentist (with only one needing a crown), and all the teeth he's worked on feel as though they've never needed a filling. If you dread getting the cleanings because of a combination of sensitive teeth and hygienists who seem sadistic, make sure you ask for Kim. She's willing to take the time to clean manually (sans sonic torture device), but very thoroughly. Even the office staff is so friendly and helpful that I've accidentally smiled while paying a bill!
