I went to another location and they told me I have no cavities and they will do my basic cleaning. Clearly they wanted to take my money in Lake Highlands!! Definitely not worth it. Plus, they send regular reminders, which people like me need as I tend to "forget" I'm due for a cleaning. I was later told to get a second opinion, but no one ever informed me that if I didn't come back to have the crown "set," my insurance wouldn't pay. At the time, I was told the claim wasn't paid because my benefits were maxed out. Fast forward to this year...suddenly, they admitted the real reason was that I never returned for that final step, which was never communicated to me in the first place. Because of that mix-up, I had to pay again (another ~ $800) for a new crown. I was told that since insurance didn't cover last year's claim, the office would write off the old balance. Fine. I moved on. During my recent visit, I discussed Invisalign but didn't commit to anything. When I decided not to move forward and mentioned that another dentist closer to home offered in-house financing, the front desk's attitude completely changed. She raised her voice in front of other patients, said my insurance "didn't pay what they hoped," and then loudly commented about my credit, saying they were only going to write off the balance "because they felt bad for me." That is unprofessional, condescending, and frankly humiliating. No patient should ever be spoken to that way (especially about financial matters)and certainly not within earshot of a waiting room. When I asked her to lower her voice, she got sarcastic instead of apologizing. The dental staff themselves are great, but the front office is another story. The lack of honesty, the inconsistent explanations, and the complete disregard for patient privacy were enough for me to take my business elsewhere. If you value transparency, respect, and professionalism, I would not recommend this office.

Today was a classic example of why I do! I have a crown on a dental post that after many long years gave out on me on Sunday. I called them on Monday and they were able to get me in for a consult visit on this today. As we were scheduling me to come back for the repair tomorrow, the patient following my appointment cancelled. So, I was able to go right back in and have my crown repaired today! No pain! No issues. Since it is under a crown ($$) I was concerned about the tooth and how much it would be. They took an image of the tooth and then another to make sure and he found no reason to be concerned at this time. He suggested I do a fluoride paste for the sensitivity and I was out the door for $35 for the paste. Thank you Family Smiles....I came away smiling. I was so grateful for his caring treatment and his honesty. I was anticipating replacing the crown and would have agreed to do so. This is about my fourth time to be in the office and I come away grateful for their concern and care each time.
