This morning's mission on my "Eating My Way Through Morristown - Morning Edition" tour led me to Kirshen Bakery. My goal? Find the elusive powdered jelly donut with the perfect trifecta of jelly, fluffy dough, and powdered sugar. At 7:30 a.m., the donuts hadn't fully arrived--delivered later from another store--so the hunt continues. Instead, I went for the breakfast of champions: a peanut butter and chocolate cookie. It didn't disappoint. Soft yet slightly crunchy, gooey in the middle, and kissed with sea salt--it's a winner. To the Kirshen team: Please, get those donuts in early for the morning crowd--we're rooting for you! This cookie restored my faith in the bakery, and I'll be back this summer to give the donuts another shot. I eat. I judge. The fork stops with me. read more

Our first visit to this bakery cafe while in Morristown near their Court Complex. They offer great French style pastries that are delicious. We had the Almond Croissant which was delicious. Their coffees are nice local small batch roasted and very fresh flavor. A cool vibe ambiance and their service hits all high marks. A great cafe bakery in the heart of Morristown. read more

A cool cafe with tempting baked goods and beverages. I tried the pistachio bostock , carrot cake and key lime pie . Everything was fresh , perfectly baked & moderately sweet. Bostock is a transitional French pastry made with brioche topped with a pistachio almond cream, dried cherries and crumble.- Couldn't get enough of it Carrot cake had the needed sweetness from carrots richness from the brown butter and cream cheese frosting . Key lime pie was silky tart with the hint of sweetness from the fresh cream . Yet to try their beverages , but having tried the cakes & pastries eager to go back soon . read more

We are Sunday breakfast people. Church and then a search for something good to eat. We found this small bakery in MoTown and zipped over for a few treats. We tried their croissants ... plain (excellent) chocolate (very good ) and almond (loved it). The folks behind the counter are young, engaging and friendly. Helpful too, suggesting items to try. Price reflects quality. Visited twice in 7 days. Will add a visit to our regular Sunday food haunts. Recommended. read more

Tried this place close to when they first opened. I got a gluten free double chocolate cookie. They share a case with regular bakery items so I can't imagine this is at all celiac safe but I was ok and it tasted great. I haven't seen other offerings but could be mistaken. read more

This cafe is a hidden gem and a must-try! You can tell how much care goes into every item. The lemon strawberry cake is phenomenal, the donut is the best I've ever had, and the turkey cheddar croissant is to die for! I'm shocked every time I bite into something- because, how can it all be SO good? They also are one of the few cafes that will actually give you a LARGE coffee! This place outshines the (many) other coffee shop/bakeries in town and is worth the trip every time. read more

There's a real wave of good bakeries opening in Morristown and the Kirshenbaum Baking Company is the latest addition. This gorgeous little café in the new Schuyler Lofts building seats about a dozen. Pours every coffee drink you can imagine, bakes very interesting pastries and also makes savory sandwiches. Prices are about $5 for a pastry, $8-13 for a sandwich. I tried a pistachio cherry bostock, strawberry chocolate muffin and pumpkin cruffin. A bostock was new to me, basically a twice baked pastry that starts with brioche. All delicious! My favorite coffee place in Morristown by far!!! As a person that once bought an entry-level espresso machine, I can at least understand and appreciate the nuance to making a quality shot of espresso. Just for context, my coffee drink of choice is a flat white. More espresso content and less drowned out by the milk. At most other coffee places, they try to get fancy with the flavored syrups, but at the heart of it all, it's still the coffee. I drop in almost every weekend to start my day off at KB. Every employee no matter who it was, ALWAYS measured the weight of the coffee grounds before extracting the shot to make sure it was up to standard. As an engineer and coffee enthusiast, I can appreciate that level of detail and dedication. On top of that, the skill of the baristas (at least for sure on the weekend) is to be highly commended. I don't usually like taking pictures of my food/drinks, but the latte art he pulled today was awesome. It's almost a shame that I'm going to have to drink it. Given that most other places rarely even try to give me latte art goes to show how much of a higher level their coffee game is from a purist standpoint. Whether you want the fancy flavored coffee drinks (iced or cold) which they also have or you want the simplicity of a traditional coffee drink, KB is the place to go in town in my opinion. I can't praise this place enough. We met the owners on separate occasions and they are so nice. Each baked item looks like perfection on a plate. It's easy to see she puts her heart into it. The seasonal item like the thanksgiving panini has become one of my favorite items. We've purchased that each time we went. Great coffee as well- matcha latte is on point! The place is setup really nicely to accommodate small and large groups. The bright and open space with modern decor makes it a refreshing place to visit. I have been wanting to try this place since it opened, but parking has always been a challenge. Finally, on a Sunday, I was able to park right out front. I ordered a cappucino and an almond croissant. The cappucino was one of the best I have ever had outside of Italy and the almond croissant was divine (on a second visit the croissant was not as fresh). Visited the bake shop on Saturday. Bought a variety of cookies and pastries to share with friends. Rave reviews on the salted caramel chocolate chip cookies, passionfruit lemon bars, pistachio bostock, apple galette and chocolate chip cookies. My favorite was actually the almond croissant - so so good! Staff was friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back to try the savory items which looked good, too. read more

Every aspect is 5 stars EXCEPT for their hours. 8-3?!!! Can't grab coffee on the way to work or on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Drove by to get coffee at 8:02 this morning shut tight. Closed on X mas eve morning! I don't get it. 7-5 seven days a week would better serve the community. Their choice obviuosly but frustrating. Went there today for a late lunch. The place is small yet cozy. For some reason I thought it was going to be a bigger place. I had the Taylor ham and cheese hand pie. The crust was flaky good and the ham is high quality. Everything they make is done with care and use the best ingredients. The desserts are not overly sweet which is a hallmark of good pastry.
