    Apricot almond brioche
    R W.

Was around the corner waiting waiting for my items from Rago Brothers (they are awesome for anything shoe or leather repair/ restoration) and needed a place to hang out and grab a bite, Morristown is really void of much yelp love except for this spot that's open for lunch... the place was quaint and filled with character. Started with the curried tuna melt, and I despise curry in general, but this was the best tuna melt I have ever had. Cheese crisped up around the edges and the bread was house made, all came together well. The desserts at the case were calling my name, the almond brioche with apricot jam was insane, the cappuccino was on point as well.

I picked up some baked goods to bring to a friend. This place looks very adorable! Even standing outside I knew I was in for a treat. I had to get a scone and some cookies that look like would be pies. I couldn't resist The loaf of zucchini bread at the register! I must say that the lady at the register was very very sweet and kind and helpful. I love the decor. I loved it cute little café area. I'd like to come in and enjoy a nice bowl of soup here sometime.

    Mushroom quiche

Came across this business on Yelp when looking up nearest bakeries. I'm staying at the Hyatt just down the street so I decided to drop in this morning. This bakery is so cute and quaint. Inside they have a few tables near the entrance and more in another room off to the left of the cashier/counter. First thing you see when entering is their glass display that contains their whole Quiche pies, and other delicious baked goods for purchase. I originally came because I wanted some cupcakes, but unfortunately this day they only had a small container with 4 mini cupcakes inside. I was hoping to get some of the ones I seen on yelp, oh well. I ended up deciding on the mushroom quiche, 2 lemon tarts (one for my husband). A frosted blueberry scone and a small coffee, totaling $34. Not including my tip. The quiche was delicious, light and fluffy and full of flavor. I'm not sure if the "salad" was supposed to be a actual salad or just garnish because it was very skimpy. Only enough for just 3 bites. I wish it was more because it too was pretty good. The scone was sweet and filling. I was only able to eat a third due to how full I was from the quiche ( don't worry I will eat the rest later). The coffee was very good and went well with the rest of my meal. I unfortunately haven't tried the tarts yet, but if their anything like the scone, it too will taste delicious. As for the staff, the lady at the counter greeted me upon arrival and took my order. Others on yelp complained about not feeling welcome or cashier being rude. I felt none of that. The cashier seemed friendly and welcoming enough. I don't know what others were looking for, but I felt she did her job well. I could see others working in the back and I seen the owner come out from the back to talk to the cashier. She looked very professional and just like the picture's on Yelp. As for me being a repeat customer, I will definitely be back. If you find yourself in Morristown NJ. I recommend you give this cute little bakery a try.

I loved the quiche and salad here. The quiche was unquestionably some of the best quiche I have ever eaten. The salad was fresh, with a delicious light and tangy dressing. The experience of dining here was off-putting for me. I was meeting a friend here. When I stepped in the front door, neither person behind the counter looked up or greeted me. One woman was scowling as she packed some bakery items. I knew my friend was already here, so after waiting a minute without being acknowledged, I explored thru the main room, down the steps to the second room and saw my friend seated at a table. I joined her, and a server promptly came over and asked if we had decided what we wanted. I politely said "We need menus please." The server definitely seemed irritated with me, and said impatiently, "look on the blackboard" pointing to a large menu board on the far side of the room. Even with my glasses on, I could not read the words from where I was sitting, because the chalk was so faint. If you look at my photo, you will see how hard to read the menu was, even after I had walked through the narrow and crowded room, and stood just a few feet away from the menu. The food came out quickly. The tables are very close together, and I was overhearing neighoring tables conversations, and I knew they were overhearing mine. At one point, I could tell from the reaction of the people next to me, but they were responding to something I had said that they were listening to. I never like it when that happens. After we finished eating, we would have liked to have sat and talked for a while, but we got the impression they wanted us to pay our bill and leave. As I left, I looked over to the same woman that had ignored me when I came in, and she was sitting in the corner on her phone, frowning and ignoring customers. The negative vibes here make me unsure if I would return, even though the food was delicious.

Wonderful bakery-cafe in what looks like the Morristown Diagon alley. Walking in, the rustic interior is very charming. I peek inside and see all these small two tops being used by ladies who lunch. There are a few tables in front but in the back is where all the action is happening. The back of the store has a beautiful brick patio and steps which lead to a courtyard. My mission is to get a salad to go and sit in the courtyard. I'm assuming the woman assisting me is the proprietor. I'm seeing all of the freshly made scones, cookies and baked goods. They have a nice looking espresso machine. The restaurant may look cute but their coffee game is all business. I read the chalkboard for specials and the pear salad is calling me. A few Yelpers have trashed this place regarding the staff. Have you ever been to New England? Don't have a thin skin Morristown, this woman is direct. She's accepting an order, there is no room for error. There were people talking and I didn't hear what she said. She repeated it slower but I can see there was no error on her part. Her face showed it. Goat cheese or blue cheese was said very slowly. Blue cheese please :D Now anyone can throw lettuce in a box, shake it up and say here ya go! My salad was meticulously prepared, from the blue cheese crumble to the thinly sliced pears. Bravo. I'm about to take my salad and dine on the patio. I'm told the tables do not belong to the bakery. Our customers were chased out of the area, its private property. Jersey.. Where's the Morristown hospitality?? Uncool neighbors of the bakery. I came back the next day and had coffee and a cookie to go. No sitting! Good baked goods in a cute setting, I highly recommend coming to The Artist Baker.

They were of the potato variety. Since they were made to order, they came out piping hot. My thoughts on each are below. The temperature really made a difference as I tried a few bites after they cooled down and it was not the same. All of the donuts were appropriate in size and somehow appeared very light. I wonder if that was attributed to the potato variety. I just could not believe how much the hot temperature made a difference in all four. Original Cinnamon Sugar - This was very good with plenty of sugar present. Raspberry Jam - There was a ton of raspberry jam here and it was great. Nutella - There was an excessive amount of Nutella here and it worked out well with the hot donut texture. It was unreal. Cannoli - This was great too. I really liked the melted chocolate chips in the cannoli cream. Will I go back? Oh, easily.

Verrilli is a charming, hole in the wall bakery with a cozy interior. Although seating is limited inside, they will have a lot of outdoor seating when summer rolls around. They also have other small desserts like cannoli, cookies, biscotti, and pizza, burgers, fries - all freshly homemade. Anyway, ordered the cinnamon sugar and butter glaze donut, (fresh and best enjoyed hot) and it was so light, fluffy, and not overly sweet!Looking to try their other donuts on the menu! Note: Owner mentioned this is BYOB! And can mix and match donut toppings!

The close proximity is one of the reasons I chose the Paris Baquette. The pastry shop is clean, brightly lit and most importantly quiet enough to have a conversation. They ended up not enjoying it, so that's why there's some missing and none of us wanted to eat it anymore! Spoke to Suzi when picking up the cake and explained to her that the cake would not be eaten on the day of, but instead two days later. The cake was for September 1st and that happened to be Labor Day so I had to pick it up earlier! She said, "That's fine," and it can be stored in the fridge for up to a week and in the freezer for up to three months. So, not sure why there's a sense of judgement, cakes should be able to be stored for longer periods of time! And we wanted to order from a bakery specifically, since it was a special occasion. Not sure what your reference to a "squished" cake has to do with it food will accumulate residue in containers overtime! 9/12/25 From seeing professional pictures online of the beautiful cakes on Google Reviews of Suzi Cakes and good reviews on Yelp, I genuinely thought that the red velvet cake I ordered over the phone with Suzi would be amazing. Boy, was I wrong. I had to throw out the cake after 6 days because no one wanted to eat it anymore. We gave some part of the cake away to a relative, so we didn't consume much...not sure if they enjoyed it either. There were 'red' flags that I noticed when placing an order with Suzi. I chose to ignore them because I needed a nicely catered cake for my sister's birthday. Suzi sounded very direct over the phone and sometimes dismissive, so I felt that I needed to truly know and prepare for how I wanted my cake each time I called. I could not go in person to explain or show pictures due to the distance from her business in East Hanover. Suzi gave me the listed price of $90, and I personally thought it was overpriced for a 7-inch, single-tiered cake. I originally did not want to place with Suzi, but I could not find a place around me that would do a red velvet cake legitimately, besides Coco Luxe Cakes in Peapack and Gladstone. Coco Luxe discontinued their red velvet cakes, unfortunately, which is the cake I truly needed, hence why I ordered here. Next, trying to find the suite number and building for this place was a nightmare, another red flag. It's very tight behind some train tracks and very easy to miss. Thank goodness for advanced technology and Google Maps/Street View for helping me navigate. I called Suzi on the phone so she could service me at the front desk to get the cake. I picked up the cake and truly believed that I would make my sister's birthday special, and I planned everything perfectly. I stored the cake in the fridge for 2 days before eating and followed all of Suzi's storage directions. We tried the cake and it was awful. It had a fermented-like taste, and we could not eat it. I saw a similar review on Yelp of someone having Suzi make their cake for their wedding, and their wedding guests could not eat it; it was that bad. I was hoping that would not happen to me, but it did, surely. The icing was hard, dry, and chunky; the cake itself lacked flavor. I got a red velvet cake from ShopRite in July for $16.99, and it tasted way better; just the cake was a little dry. I called Suzi to give her some feedback so she knows. She informed me to come back so she could examine the taste, but at that point, we threw the cake out. $90 truly wasted. Can't really ask for a refund, I guess, because I never came back to her about it, because her location is almost an hour from my house...not sustainable for me. Despite the good reviews, I will never go to Suzi Cakes again. I will stick with another recommendation I got from a relative for Coco Luxe in Peapack if I want a professionally made cake from a bakery. My sister's birthday was ruined, and no one in my family liked the cake. The price for the cake was outrageous, and compared to other local bakeries in the area, the price does not justify the taste. The presentation of the cake is good, but the taste is abysmal. Save yourself, your palate, and your wallet by looking elsewhere!
