I love their jambalaya and the fact they let Hogan tag along!

Not a fan of places that CHARGE customers to use their credit card ($0.50)!! Good food, but I won't be coming back.

Super rude waitress gave me attitude when I wandered in by mistake. Definitely won't be going back now.

Found this place on Yelp and it sounded good so a friend and I drove to Ballard to have a sandwich and a beer. We had picked up coffee on the way and had a few sips left in our sealed cups when entering. As soon as we sat down we were greeted by a server with "Um....we are a cafe so we probably don't want other coffee in here." Quite silly that they would refuse us a full meal and beers over a few sips of coffee. We left without a fuss and don't plan on heading back. A shame, as I really wanted to like this place but was given the cold shoulder before I could even order. Quite petty if you ask me. read more

I wish we had found this place earlier!! We were actually planning on trying Portage Cafe, but the wait was long, so we stopped in here. Lucky us! We didn't know anything about Kiss, but they had a lunch menu, so we thought we'd give it a shot. The place was pretty quiet and we got a nice table next to the window. The menu has tons of great sandwiches (my favorite!) and almost everything is local. Also, the fact that the napkins are black bandannas and they give you a jar of pickles is just great. The staff was really nice and polite, too. I ordered the Chipotle RB, which is a roast beef sandwich with cheddar cheese, red onions, green peppers, banana peppers, and chipotle mayo on a warm bun. It was fantastic!! I can't wait to come back again to try another sandwich offering and some of the eclectic beer selections. read more

They have an excellent bottle selection. This is a no draft beer, no liquor, and no whine bar. Like how I did that? Me neither. Bad pun. Very low key. I'd recommend their all day breakfasts or the monte cristo over the rest of their grub. It's a very great staff all the time. I am not related to any of them or dating any so I'm not just saying that. Feel free to walk up to the beer fridge to see what they have. Ask for the pickles. Pickles rule and they serve herkimer coffee which also rules. read more

You could easily drive by this place without knowing. Simple menu and the attention to detail made our visit an appealing one. Music volume, decor, cucumber infused water, and on.. The house made jumbalaya was spectacular and our pulled pork sammie and mac n cheese hit the spot. Tons of great beer and very pleasant service. We'll be back soon for sure. read more

The grilled sandwiches are good (not greasy, crisp, and generously stuffed) but the real reason we come here is so Phinney can sit under the table (indoors!) while we dine. They also have like 99 different beers to choose from. Service was very friendly, and my puppy was very happy. This is one of the best bars/cafes ever! Even though there is not one beer on tap, they have an unbeatable can & bottle selection. The place has a nice chill vibe, awesome and friendly staff, great sandwiches and a beer selection that will always have something new to offer you. I'd been meaning to try this place since it opened so I guess better late than never! It's a small place with a huge selection of sandwiches to choose from. I enjoyed seeing the art on the wall. There is even an option to build your own sandwich. I decided to order the Porgie's which was ham, brie, apple and Dijon. It was so good! The sandwich comes with a side of chips which you can choose between about five. After we ordered our server brought a jar of pickles to our table. I ate about five pieces! In all it was a good experience and I will definitely go back to try a new sandwich! read more

Was introduced to this place by a friend. The 99 bottles is going to put a good 15 lbs on me, but I'm going for it. Great soup and salad (the only thing I've eaten so far), the pickles rock, and I've never been to a place with so many different beers. We really enjoyed a recent visit to the Kiss Cafe. The service was very friendly (we were given a free jar of pickles!) and the Monte Cristo is oh-so-yummy. There are a few tables outside, so it's a great option for a sunny day, too. Great beer selection, as well. =) read more

Sandwiches are my love language and these are some of the best in Seattle, both hot and deli-style. They manage to pack the place all 12 hours a day they're open even though there's nothing trendy about their food. Their motto is "Keepin' it simple" and it's true. This place is just a cafe with sandwiches: it's not "localvore," it's not "artisan," nothing took three days to smoke in a handbuilt oven after being airlifted from Japan. However, sammiches are substantial, delish, creative and $9. Their muffuletta (the Hot Muff) is the best one I've had outside of New Orleans. Plus the cafe is open until 11pm every day. Risking deportations from Seattle, I admit that I don't drink beer, but the community atmosphere around the beer club admits root beer swiggers, too. I'm glad places like this still exist. Great sandwiches and lentil soup. This is one of those typical trendy cafes trying to capitalize on the Ballard hipster types. The Tom Waits artwork and music was nice (I am a huge TW fan). The thing keeping my review to three stars is the fact that there were SIX DOGS INSIDE!!! Not only that, one of the dags was loose and behind the counter! I'm sorry people, keep your frickin' dogs outside. Doubt I will go back because of the dog thing. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs and have two. I'm just not one of those people that let their dogs stick their tongues down their throat or sit at the table in a cafe. read more

I went to this place for lunch because I heard they had a good Monte Cristi sandwich. I guess I'll never know, because after being seated in the half empty restaurant and being served an iced tea, my server disappeared for 15 minutes. And by "disappeared" I mean stood six feet away from me, talking to his friend about his wedding, restocking beer, and eating a sandwich. I'm not impatient, but if you lack the self-awareness to know 'hey, that guy has been there for 15 min, maybe I should take his order' I'm not going to eat at your restaurant. read more

You cannot beat the beer selection or pickle quality of Kiss Cafe! The sandwiches are scrumptious and filling. Be sure to ask about the soup before you order. If you're lucky, you'll come in when they have jambalaya, which they pile so high over the soup cup you'll swear it has an endoskeleton. I also enjoy seeing the rotating art for sale on the walls, even if it never quite is my taste. read more

I have to say I thought the prior review indicating that the space was weird without any substantive explanation was not exactly an objective criticism and what is the deal with the other review giving the space -2 stars? I knew the place when it was Karma and although I liked the owner of Karma a lot, I thought the space too small and too bright. The place now seems twice the size it was before and it has a much higher quality finish (floors, tables, TVs etc). The space is attractive in a practical way. It doesn't have a tremendously unique or compelling decor but I think this is because it is just making the transition from new to lived in. I dug the use of black chain link fencing to separate the immediate bar from the front tables. I also liked the darker, cooler, more bar-like colors and lighting scheme creating a loft-like feel befitting the warehouse space they are in. All in all it really feels like a small homey sports bar rather than a deli, which it is strangely classified as. Being a beer lover I wish fervently that they had beer on tap rather than just by the bottle but the bottle selection (around 100 options) is pretty impressive. They also have a really fairly decent NW wine list. The sandwich menu is short but supplemented by a few additional specials. I thoroughly enjoyed the French dip, one of the best I have had for a long while and the Cuban was decent too. I did join the 99 bottle club. Basically you pay nothing to give it a shot -- just the cost of your beers. They mark your purchases on a list of all of the beers they carry and the list has some open slots for seasonal beers, special offerings etc. When you get 99 entries you get your own glass and a member number. One more thing. The people there are awesome. They definitely remember return customers (I have been twice now). They seem down to earth and have many interests. Anyway I will be going back ... I have 95 beers left to check off of my list. read more

The kiss cafe is a below average restaurant. This service is really, really bad. We ordered and weren't checked on for 30- 40 minutes. It took forever for our food to get to our table and when they took the food out of the kitchen they even served it to the wrong table. So if you like restaurants with bad service, This is the place to go. But if you don't like restaurants with bad service than I recommend that you never come here. The only thing that was actually a little good was the food. read more

We waited 40 minutes to get our food after ordering. The food was fine, but not worth that wait. Honestly it would have been better if one of the servers had approached us and asked us how we were doing. Instead, we waited for almost an hour and she barely spoke to us. We felt ignored and the food wasn't great. Go there for drinks maybe but don't eat there. read more

My husband was so excited to take me to Kiss after having a great lunch. The bartender was jovial and welcoming, food great, and he loved the atmosphere. We went last night and from the moment we walked in the waitress, Naomi, was the rudest person I've run into in many years. Halfway through the stomach turning smart-assed bitchiness, we wondered if we where on candid camera or something. Unfathomable to me that someone so spiteful and openly rude could be employed anywhere near customers. Even down to holding our forks out with a fist as if challenging us to take it - unreal. Perfect lunch spot! Rode the bus to walk around Ballard and stumbled upon the Kiss Cafe. Menu has all sorts of great sandwich combinations with unexpected ingredients. Had a sandwich with all the fixins for about $10 and I have 1/2 leftover for lunch today. Fresh ingredients. Great bread. Quirky atmosphere. Disclaimer: I have not been to this cafe. However... My husband was there last night and he got the hummus. Now our whole house smells like garlic, even the next day. I'm sure it was delicious hummus, but it should come with some kind of warning. "May cause extreme smelliness" or "For single people only." Or something like that. What a great little surprised this place was! While at working lunchtime came and we had no idea where we would stop and grab something, came across Kiss Cafe. While it is not super large the menu is, we had the Dagwood sandwich as well as a cup of jambalaya and tomato basil soup. Obviously the locals in the neighborhood know about this little gem, as it was pretty well packed for the lunch hour. Great great food! read more

Great spot! Look into the Ballard Drinking Club! Great friendly service that is always fun to chat with and very accommodating.

Stopped here after going to the Ballard Locks (which are pretty cool--check them out). It's a small space, but we only had to wait about 5-10 minutes after walking in for lunch. It's dog friendly, so there were dogs inside the restaurant, which is cool and all, but also a little concerning to have dogs inside a restaurant. And just FYI--I'm a big fan of dogs. Anyway. The food was good, service was friendly but INCREDIBLY slow. I'm talking almost a 30 minute wait for our food after we ordered. Which seems long. It's a cool and hip little place. read more

I have only been here once but so far I really like this place. Lots of sandwich and wraps options as well as beers available. I had the Johnny's Tight Whitey (turkey, bacon (mmm bacon!), pepper jack, LTO and thousand island dressing on white bread). So simple, yet so tasty! I also liked that this place is doggie friendly. If I lived in the Ballard area I would definitely frequent this place more often (with or without a doggie in company). read more
